My yorkie is doing great. Heā€™s eating veg to bowl premix with either boiled chicken and boiled lean turkey. Heā€™s on pancre plus prescription digestive enzyme.Heā€™s been on it 4 months and he does not have EPI. I have another problem now. Iā€™m afraid heā€™s in early renal. He drinks soo much and pees a lot. He is so hungry all the time. Any suggestions on renal and getting off pancre plus. Thank you. Heā€™s 14 and 4 months.

He licks the kitchen floor and was trying to eat his own stool.he lost from 8.2 to 7lbs. Why is he so hungry his over vaues weā€™re not good so weā€™ve been on Denamarin for 15 days. We are to go back to check his levels. Have no idea what caused his pancreatitis. Should I go back to vet now about the hungry problem

My yorkie takes Interceptor and I give him milk thistle after nine days for a week. Should I do this every month? He gets no other medications for fleas and ticks. Just seems like a lot to give him this every month for a week

I don’t buy anything from 1-800 meds because I had a friend who bought heartworm medicine from them and gave it every month and her dog got heartworms. They had to pay for the treatment because she proved it. I think it had something to do with storage. Susie I’ve heard that only the injections work. I’m going to see my vet tomorrow to see what he says.

Inked Marie my yorkie(little pig) sometimes weighs a little over 8 but usually 7.6lbs. The plus is 2-8 lbs and the interceptor is 2-10 lbs. do you think he’d still be safe with the plus?

InkedMarie I put Bailey on Interceptor 7 months ago and no problem except I give it with peanut butter and I think sometimes he swallows it. Does it have to be chewed? Another question: Interceptor plus has something for tapeworms would this be better? Thanks

I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for Bailey. It has been 6 months and he is owing great. He did have to have the 2nd surgery to remove dead skin but we cleaned his teeth also while he was under. No internal damages. My vet said we were both lucky. I scooped him up and the pit knocked me down and got on my back. Bailey got away from me and the pit got him but he got away and ran to my neighbors. My other neighbor saw it and beat him off with a stick. I still can’t walk him alone so I wait for my husband and I carry maze with me. We have a strict law in our city about pits and he was just loose in the front yard. The owner paid a hefty fine and they made her build a fence with electricity in it. She has not once contacted me so I have a lawyer. We are suing her insurance. I just want her to pay my vet bills. People like her should not own animals. Thanks for letting me talk about this and pray for me, Bailey is doing great still loves everyone even other dogs but I’m still traumatized. My vet said Bailey was the toughest yorkie he had ever seen and the sweetest!

Sorry anon but I think any medicine like metacam that can destroy liver and kidneys is not good for longer than 2 weeks. I found thesupplement from Mercola’s calledcurcumin and it helps. I think this is the ingredient in Tumeric. I take Tumeric for my arthritis and it really helps. I need suggestions for good digestive enzyme. Thanks

Anon he’s under a vets care. Susan thank u so much for your suggestions. Bailey is a 7 lb 9 year old rescued yorkie. I’ve had him for 7 years. I give him preference pre mix by THK and veg to bowl premix by Dr. Harvey. I rotate these 2 and I add the protein. I change the protein every week. Turkey, chicken, ground round, version, salmon, tuna etc. for treats he gets freeze dried tripe, the honest kitchen treats. One of these a day.I rotate them. I also add yogurt to his meal at night and a teaspoon of kefir at night. I add a joint supplement because he has luxating pettalar(not bad a 1) I was also giving him foriflora probiotic when he got sick. I also rotate them springtime, mercolas. He also gets Nordic natural fish oil and 3 times a week coconut oil.I also give him a digestive enzyme(prozyme) This is the first time he’s had direahea. He usually has nausea. My vet at this time does not want to do a scope but if needed he will send me to UGA vet school. He also walks a mile every morning with my husband and at night I walk around the block with him. He loves to walk and sniff. I know that he’s 9 1/2 now but that’s not old for a yorkie. Thanks for ur input. I will ask Dr. Mac about the losec and Zantac.

I’m still having trouble with Baileys digestive system. Thurs. night he started having diharea. Pacing and then loose mucus stools with blood. My vet x-rayed his whole body and found nothing. He gave him shot of cerenia and put him on clavamox, tyrosine andmetronidazole(flagella). Today is the 3rd day and he just had a big pile of bloody mucus(bright blood)He said it could be a hilateal hernia. I am frightened to see blood coming from him. He’s eating boiled chicken and rice.He has a fair appetite. The X-rays said his colon was empty(no duh)How long should I wait before I take him to UGA vet school. Er’re also still doing Pepcid. I am so worried about him. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree. With the Heartgard I give him half in morning after he eats and the other half that night after he eats. I wish they would make a chew for smaller dogs. The smallest is for dogs from 1 to 25 lbs.

Crazy for cats I must really be void of common sense because I think kibble is the worst food u can feed. I feed canned weruva, petcurean said go fit but mostly I use THK base mix preference and add my own protein.of course I have a small yorkie so the cost is a lot less.

Thanks everyone. Bobbydog I have 5 of my cats. I lost 3 this summer. I have looked every where for them. There has been a hawk flying over and I am o afraid he might have gotten them. I can’t understand why they are endangered. I keep a shotgun in my car now and the next time he flies over he’s a goner. I guess they’ll have to lock me up.jk I have one cat at home(he’s old) when he’s gone I’m bringing them home. Thanks for asking.

Red and Losul: Thanks for ur comments. I never give my dog otc human melds without checking with my vet. I have probably given Bailey Pepcid 3 times in his life. His condition is not bad I just don’t want it to get bad.Two years ago he was coughing and throwing up and we checked for mesoesopogus which he didn’t have. He had something in his throat(very small) my vet made him an appt. at UGA vet school for a scope test but when he xrayed it again it was gone so we cancelled. We think the test for mesoesopogus the food mixed with barium washed it off.I just had him groomed and I’m afraid she used the thing around his neck because I forgot to remind her. I am taking him to my vet tomorrow for a good check up. Thanks everyone.

Susan or anyone when I give my yorkie the Pepcid is it okay to give it with a little yogurt where I don’t have to put it down his throat? The vet that prescribed the Zantac syrup said not to give it with food but what does he know he prescribed something with sorbitol in it. When should I give it? He takes thyroid melds at 7a.m and 7p.m.

Hound dog mom I have a yorkie and their teeth have to be professionally clean every year or two. I brush mines teeth twice a day and give him bully sticks weekly. It has been 3 years since vet cleaned but I think he will have to go this year. I am seeing plaque on the back ones. It is so hard to brush their teeth because their mouth is soo small.I would not mind getting them cleaned every year but they have to go under anathesia and it scares me to death. I need a Xanax when I have his cleaned!
