Why don’t u try nutrisource. People on here have good luck with it. When my Bailey has digestive issues like diarrhea I use Perfect Form and it is wonderful. I think it’s made by the honest kitchen. I also order my food from cheweys and it’s a lot cheaper and u receive it super fast. Good luck.

I just started him on the wellness core weight management canned. It has 318 calories in a can. My vet said for him if he weighs 6 lbs and neutered for obesity he should get 154 calories a day. He weighs 7.3 lbs and I only feed him 4ozs a day and he does not lose weight. I have been feeding the cans suggested for weight loss on here.If I feed him 6ozs a day he will be a little butter ball. He’s hypothyroid but he’s on soloxine and his test results are perfect for his thyroid. I don’t know what to do.I think he’s like me just can’t lose weight.Another question when I give him Dr. Harveys oracle and I want a half cup a day is that measured to eat after the water is added? We walk a mile in morning and evening so he gets 2 miles a day plus playing in backyard but he also sleeps a lot. He’ll be 7 Mar. 22. Thanks for all your help. Between my 8 cats at Subway and my cat at home and Bailey I’m a basket case!

My yorkie had sturvite crystals but no uti’s so I switched him to low carb canned food with water even added to it and we have been clear since. I would think u would have to get rid of the Uti and crystals before the supplements would help.

Thanks for all ur advice and info. Deanna

Hi Dori. I have thought about it but for some reason I can’t do it. How much do u feed your 7 lb baby? I give my Bailey Fruits and whole green foods too. I am thinking about getting a yorkie puppy. My Bailey is a rescue and my second yorkie. I’ve been trying to find another rescue but yorkies are so hard to find. I’m 65 so the thoughts of a puppy is scary. I support United yorkie rescue but most of them are too old. My Bailey was 2 when I got him.He was an owner surrender with heart worms. Oh well didn’t mean to give u my life’s story but I am going to talk with my vet about the raw feeding. He’s all for it. He’s the best Vet. Thanks, Deanna

I have been using the suggested foods for weight loss on this site(article written by Dr. mike.not th suggested low fats. I have to watch out for carbs because Bailey got sturvite crystals when he was on kibble high in carbs.

Crazy4Cats I only give him about 1/2 egg once a week. I was adding Teaspoon of cottage cheese daily but I’ve cut that out.My husband gives him a little round slice of banana every morning. So with all his add ons do you think 1/4 cup in morning and night is enough canned?

DogFoodie Isn’t that kibble? I don’t feed him kibble. All the other wellness cans are higher in fat than the wellness stews.

Crazy4cats yes that’s the calories from most of the food sometimes the cans are more. I only feed him canned or freeze dried. I add different things to his food but it still doesn’t add up to about 130 calories. He hasn’t lost any weight if anything he gains.I feed him the canned food that is above average protein and below or near average fat and carbs. His main canned food is the wellness stews but I also feed him Go Fit, Frommn gold,Weruva, dr Harveys oracle. I’ve tried HK but he hates that. I’m thinking about putting lotus in his rotation. It’s hard to find the 4 or 5 star canned that has the protein, fat, and carb count I like.I guess he’s ok but just wish he didn’t act hungry so much. Thanks for commenting.

I fed earthborn canned tubs to my yorkie or at least a couple of cans and all he did was go to the bathroom. It was too high in fiber for me but I’ve never used the kibble but I don’t use kibble.

Susan why do u worm ur dog every 4 to 6 months. I always thought worming medicine was bad unless they had worms. Tammy C I would have him tested first. That might not be the reason he’s losing weight.

My yorkie had crystals and I switched him to a canned, freezedried diet and he’s been crystal clear. I also think high carbs contribute to this.

It’s me again the crazy cat lady with the 8 rescues at our Subway. Lucy who has been fixed for about 2 months now is stressing me out. She limps on her back leg. Sometimes it even gives with her and she wobbles sideways. This happen during her surgery or from her vaccine shots. My vet says that sometime they will jerk their leg during surgery and it causes this. It looks like they got a nerve to me. I’ve had soo many cats fixed and this has never happened before. The female vet in his office fixed her. She’s a first year vet but spaying and neutering should be one of the easiest procedures to do. I am so upset she walks like she’s lame. These cats have a rough time as it is and now this. I am going to take her back and let him check her. Have any of you ever heard of this?

You people are so good with ur kitties and I’m feeling bad. I’m the crazy lady with the 8 strays behind Subway. I’ve now had them all fixed, they have a 300 lb cat condo(had to make it heavy where no one would steal it) I feed them twice a day . I mix the canned and dry together and then at night we leave out the dry. I worry about them everyday because I live 10 miles from the subway so I don’t get to spend but an hour a day with them.my manager loves cats so she feeds them when she gets to work every morning. We have a lot of delivery trucks so I’m constantly worrying. I wish I could find them inside homes but no one wants a cat.I’ve had offers from people to make them barn cats but I’m not going to do it. My vet says they are taken care of better than most of his other cat patients.I want to bring them home. They would still have to live outside but I have a 10 year old outside cat who fights any cat that comes in my yard.So all u sweet cat people please say a prayer for my sweet little rescues. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Dori get ur vet to do the titers on the distemper and parvo. It had been 3 years since my yorkie’s and the titers were very good. I did not have the shots. He sent the blood to Hemopet,Jean Dobbs lab, the cost for her test was only $52. Then u have to pay the vet for drawing blood and sending. I received the results in a few days. Well worth the money!

Rabies is the only one required by law the others u don’t have to get. I remember growing up our dogs never had anything but rabies shot and they lived to be old.Table scraps and no shots.

Crazy4cats if ur dog bites or gets bitten by a dog and is not up to date on shots they can quarantine him or even euthanize him. Also when mine was referred to UGA they would not see him without being up to date on shots. Also grooming, daycare, etc.

Vicky if I were u I would titer him and if their high don’t give it. I wish I had waited for the results but it took 28 days to get the rabies titer back. I received the others in a few days. At least the rabies vaccine is the only one I got because the titers were good for the distemper and parvo and I waited on them. I think if ur dog has health issues he can be exempt from the rabies vaccine with a good titer. Good luck

When my yorkie was diagnosed with sturvites without uti, I switched him to canned food that was low in carbs and even added water to this. My vet says that it makes the urine more alkalinity and with sturvites u need more acidity. I personally think water is the key. I could see the crystals when he tee tee and they looked like diamonds.since I’ve been using canned wellness stews, go fit foods like this that are below average in carbs we have been struvite free. Good luck.

Naturella– anyone can send to Hemopet. Just go on the website Hemopet labs and u fill out the form, send ur money(I used a credit card) They will email u what to do. My vet did this and took the blood and sent it on Mon. They received it Friday and e-mailed me the results. The test is $52 and whatever ur vet charges u to draw blood and send off. I have a great vet so he was cheap. I will receive the results of the rabies titer later. I was very impressed with this lab.

I also did the rabies but it takes longer for the results. I had to give him the rabies vaccine because of law and it had been over 3 years but hopefully they will okay the rabies titer in another 3 years since they are working on it. It killed me to watch that vaccine go in him but so far he has been good. I don’t think I’m ever giving him another one I don’t care what the law says!

Yes I have heard of it in one of my dog magazines. This fixes them from having puppies but they keep their hormones since a lot of holistic and natural people are saying removing these cause problems. It is an FDA approved non-surgical way to neuter ur male without anesthesia while leaving the testicles intact.

Yorkieville there 6 different kinds of the wellness stews beef stew, chicken stew, lamb and beef, turkey, turkey and duck, and venison and salmon. My yorkie loves all of these. I think if he loves wellness he will love Go Fit by petcurean my yorkie loves them and they have similar protein, fat, and carb levels. They are only 2 different kinds. I also love yorkies. This is my second one. I lost my first one in 2000. He was my heart but I have fallen in love with this one too. They have so many of the same characteristics. Both of mine have been males and I’m trying to talk my husband into a female. I’ve heard the girls bond better with the dads.I think it’s healthier if u also rotate brands. Right now we are on wellness stew, go fit and fromn gold. It takes 2 or 3 days to use a can so I finish one can then go to the next and so forth. I wish I could do different morning and evening but I don’t want to waste the cans. I’m thinking about trying him on Dr. Harveys oracle. I want to add to his rotation. Good luck with ur precious baby. Yorkies Rule!(ha ha)
