Thanks Aimee. I just talked to the verbactech and he said they would not be making it until next year. They were recommending patients talk to vets and prolly be switched over to the generic. Dori you might be interested in knowing this. I guess when ur vet runs out he will switch u over unless he has enough for a year.Oh well drug companies!

Dori this is who I get them from and their on back order until Aug. 18th. My vet only carries the generic and I wanted Soloxine but there’s another vet in town that carries them so my vet will fax them a prescription like he does Drs Fostersmith. They are so much cheaper this way than at the vets. I wonder why no one has them now. I hope nothing is wrong with them. I’m a worry wart!

Thanks SUsan for all the information. The vet (not my vet) put him on liquid Zantac syrup and it worked but It has sorbitol in it so I quit giving it. I use perfect form by THK which has slippery elm in it and it works great. We don’t have the glair ups too often. The weruva food is low in fats but high in protein which causes acid. He does well when I have him on boiled chicken and rice. I’m thinking of ordering one of the premises from THK and add my own cooked meat. He’s due for a check up in a few weeks so we’ll see. Thanks again, Deanna

My vet is not prescribing anything. I have cerenia tablets and Pepcid so I’ve been prescribing myself. Everything I read says probiotics and digestive enzymes are good to help a dog digest his food. Any other ideas anyone.

Pit love Heartgard plus does not have anything in it for fleas and ticks just for heartworms and other intestinal worms.

Thanks Dog obsessed it was a good article. I have cerenia tablets but I don’t use them unless he’s really nauseated. He burps after his meals so I was thinking Pepcid for reflux but I think I’m just going to stick with his probiotics and digestive enzymes. I don’t like to give drugs to him anyway.

Dori I hate like crazy to put frontline on them but they are my rescues and live behind our store. During the winter they stay in their condo but in the summer it’s too hot so they stay under the building. I can not have fleas back there. I never use anything on my yorkie. The only thing he gets is Heartgard because he had heartworms when I got him. I never use off brands from Walmart etc on my cats and I only do it for 3 months. I hated to worm them but I gave them Drontal because it covers hook, round and tape. I never give medicine like this to my home animals but I don’t have a choice with these babies. Hopefully one day I’ll get to bring them home(as outside cats)

I ordered drontal tablets for my cats. I decided to catch them put drontal Down their throat, frontline on them and mite medicine in their ears. I will probably have to go to the Dr. Myself afterwards for an antibiotic shot for my scratched up, bitten body! Wish me luck!

The college in Minnesota that most Drs send the stones to suggest a diet low in carbs for sturvite stones .A dog should be on canned food low in carbs with water added in. I would not feed my dog kibble if it had stone issues.

I have been giving my yorkie milk thistle 3 days after Heartgard but only once a day for a week. He weighs 7.3 lbs and I give the liquid from Swansons so how much should I give and should I do it twice a day. I think BCnut told me 5 drops but I thought she meant once a day.question twice a day and how much teaspoon wise? Thanks

My yorkie had a seizure. Did blood work and his t4 was 0.5 we did the thyroid panel test and he was hypothyroid so I give him Soloxine every day. I knew about all the usual signs for hypothyroid but couldn’t believe it could cause seizures. I got Dr. Dobbs book on the. Thyroid epidemic and it can cause them. She also said it causes behavior problems. She said so many dogs were returned to the shelter and when they started them on thyroid medicine their behavior problems disappeared. Great book!

Hi crazy4cats you will get this. My 8 rescue cats at our Subway had 2 visitors today. I found 2 kittens under the building. I’d say their 4 weeks old but they came out trying to eat the others food. My 8 soon to be a year old cats ran they were scared of the kittens. The fresh pet food is fresh pet select fresh from the kitchen. It is like homemade. It has shredded chicken, cranberries, carrots and spinach plus vitamins and minerals. It shows the girl on their website making it. It looks real good. I only feed canned and freezedried so I thought I might try this.I assume you have to refrigerate it but it didn’t mention how long it last or anything.

When my yorkie was like this I boiled chicken and cooked rice and added chicken broth. I had to do for about 2 weeks and gradually started adding her food back with it. What helped me more than anything was the supplement the perfect form fro the honest kitchen. It has slippery elm in it .Good luck

Oh Dori they are precious. little black one minds me of the dog that won at westminister last year. I love the small breeds. I can’t imagine not being able to pick up my baby. I thought I had another yorkie from United yorkie rescue. He was 3 and an owner surrender but everyone I apply for they kinda suggest I am too old for a young one. I’m only 65 in good health retired and stay with mine most of the day. I told my husband we’re being discriminated against because of age. I want to rescue but now I’m going to look aroun and see if I can buy one a little older than a puppy.

I have my yorkie on wellness core weight management canned when he gains a little weight but I also use the wellness stews, fromn gold, go fit, simply nourish, grandma lucys, and Dr. Harveys grain free oracle. I am lucky that I only have one small dog so the cost of food is not a problem. I am considering starting on raw. Since I switched him off kibble, I have had no problem with crystals. I truly believe the most important thing with crystals is WATER!

That sounds great my YORKIES went from 8 to 6.5 in a month. I also used the solid gold supplement. The canned foods that I use are wellness stews, go fit, simply nourish and all canned that are below average in carbs and below or near average in fat. They will do great with the diet change. Good luck

You need to get ur dogs off kibble and onto canned. They need moisture and low carbs. There’s an article from the college in Minnesota that specializes in the stones but I can’t find it. I remember in the article it was all about the diet. My yorkie had the crystals and no infection. I put him on canned food that was low in carbs and it work. I even added water to the canned. They need lots of water to wash them out. I would not use the science diet that my vet recommended. They need a diet with more acidity and less alkalinity.

Dori what freezedried foods do you use? I know your babies are small like Bailey. He did not like the honest kitchen. I tried him on the Zeal because it was low in fats and carbs and he wouldn’t eat it. One of the few foods he has refused. I like Dr. Harveys because it’s low in fat and carbs. He’s on the grain free chicken now and he’s had the tripe. Loves them both. Thanks

I just received an e mail from Dr. Harveys and they said it was normal to drink more water on a freezedried food. I just emailed them and they answered within a few hours. I had other questions and they said Dr. Harvey would like to talk to me so I’m to call him tomorrow. I am in shock. That is service. Now what are some of the things I should ask him?

My yorkie loves everybody but I don’t allow him around big dogs because u never know what a dog will do. My Bailey might start barking at them but so far he doesn’t but Istill don’t trust him or the bigger dog. My vet told me so many yorkies are hurt by big dogs so I just avoid them when I’m with him.

Get the book by Dr. Becker at Mercola products. I am reading it now. You have to have the right supplements and foods. She says if your not going to do it correctly your dog will be better off on commercial.

I have a yorkie and at my brothers for Christmas this year.my brother has a border collie golden mix who is 13. I love Honey,my brothers dog but she kept looking and acting strange toward my Bailey so I told my brother I didn’t feel my Bailey was safe. He said u know Honey is not going to hurt him but I decided to hold Bailey well Honey came over and tried to bite Bailey if I had not put my hand between them he would have hurt him but he bit my hand instead. What I’m trying to say if you have a small dog it is sometime frightening to be around a bigger dog because one bite from a big dog and a little yorkie would be hurt. I can’t believe Honey did this. usually I go without Bailey and Honey loves me. I think she was jealous but I sensed something and it did happen so maybe Astro’s parents sensed this.

No low protein has nothing to do with PH. when the ph is high it is to alkalinity and when it’s low it’s too acidity. So in my opinion it’s the ingredients in the food. I know that when my yorkies ph was 8 his diet was too high in carbs. He was on longevity by bb and it was high in carbs. He was also on kibble and when I switched to canned with low carbs his ph dropped. I personally would never use anything by Blue Buffalo again. To many people have had too much trouble with this brand. Good luck

Dori this is GREAT! I live in Vidalia,Ga. and my vet had mentioned something about working on accepting rabies titers. I gave Bailey his Rabies titer a few months ago and I had him tittered before the shot and it came back very high and that was without having one for 3 years. His other titers said very good. I will never give him another shot because I feel the titers will be high.I am super excited. Can’t wait to talk to my vet, Infact I think I will text him now.

My yorkies PH was 8 last year and he had sturvite crystals. I switched him to all canned with below average carbs and his PH this year was5.5 which was a little to acidity for me but it had dropped that much. I would definitely get him off the CD because that should just be short term not a year. It is not a very good food in my opinion. Maybe someone on hear that knows a lot more than I do can give u suggestions. I just know what worked for me.

Hi flowers I have only one small Dog so I use only canned. It is a lot better than kibble. I also use dehydrated and freezedried in my rotation. There are soo many great canned foods. Good luck with ur new baby.
