Cyndi,
I have Gem on a probiotic, that’s it. Not pumpkin. Tbh, I’d like to have her have normal stool without it. She ate kibble her whole life, crap kibble too, til we adopted her not even two years ago. I’m hoping she can scoop it up somehow, with some canned. She never seems to know what to do with her tongue.November 2, 2014 at 7:51 pm in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #56195 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberThe mom in me just wants to wrap you in a hug. I’m a huggy person so consider it done.
I went to a wake today for our friends 27 year old daughter. Tomorrows the funeral. Tell your parents that life is too short for this s**t.
InkedMarieMemberGlad it’s not just me, I cant understand it.
InkedMarieMemberI agree with the Nut; Annamaet is a good food, so is Fromm and Dr Tims.
Regarding Diamond, they’ve had a number of recalls. There’s time between them then bam, another. IMO, there are way too many other goods out there with better tract records to choose from.
November 2, 2014 at 4:34 pm in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #56172 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI came hoping for an update!
InkedMarieMemberIf you’re looking for canned, I have a thread “let’s talk canned” in the nutrition forum. Lots of good priced ideas there.
InkedMarieMemberThank you! I’m anxious for the Farmina to arrive; lotsa diarrhea, again. I appreciate the suggestions, will make a list!
November 2, 2014 at 12:44 pm in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #56155 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberHa, me too! I thought I was up at 5:30. Oops.
InkedMarieMemberI’ve used Brothers and the dogs did fine on it. I’ll likely use it again, in the future.

October 31, 2014 at 6:35 am in reply to: Choice : Nature's Logic OR Farmina N&D ! #56047 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI’d feed both. Buy one bag then buy the other. Rotate.
October 30, 2014 at 11:20 am in reply to: HOW TO PROVE KEDNEY FAILURE CAUSED BY PURCHASED DOG FOOD #56005 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberYes, that helps a lot but I’m still confused. Did you have a necropsy? If not then there is no way to know if the food was the problem. I’m not sure what you’re hoping for; are you thinking Diamond is going to admit wrong doing and pay you?
October 30, 2014 at 11:05 am in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #56000 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberAll I can say is wow! I don’t care what anyone looks like, it’s the person you are inside that counts, still least in my book. I hope it goes well, please let us go.
InkedMarieMemberI’m thankful Gemma is toothless because we’d have all been bitten.
InkedMarieMemberCyndi: I’ll always do rabies, even if nh changed the laws except for an old sick dog. If mine weren’t vaccinated for rabies and they bit someone, they’re dead. Jmo of course.
October 29, 2014 at 10:33 am in reply to: Rabies titer test results in soo upset #55886 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI don’t board my dogs either & it took awhile to find a groomer that accepted titers. Our former Sheltie was conveniently late on rabies….she was sick & I didn’t want her to have it. A local groomer took her as long as she was the last appointment. We had a former vet who had an issue with some disease in her practice & if dogs had to go out back for anything or were having surgery or a procedure, they had to be completely vaccinated. I didn’t stay at her practice long.
InkedMarieMemberDori,
Yes, mine are titered for parvo & distemper. Our rabies is every three years after the first. The first is a one year then it’s a three year after that. If your law is every three, do not let them talk you into anything other than that!October 29, 2014 at 8:19 am in reply to: HOW TO PROVE KEDNEY FAILURE CAUSED BY PURCHASED DOG FOOD #55874 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWith the all capitals I can’t follow what you’re writing. Your first sentence: are you saying you expected your vet to do a necropsy even though you couldn’t afford it?
InkedMarieMemberBoone doesn’t lick people but he grooms Ginger like a cat. She has the cleanest head, eyes and ears. He also licks our hardwood floors. He walks around the house & does it. He is the strangest dog but we love the little poop lol.
InkedMarieMemberIs a yearly rabies vaccine the law where you live?
I don’t bother titering for rabies because I have to do rabies every three years, by law. It’s a waste of money, for me.
InkedMarieMemberDavid,
Are you saying the Kirkland in Mexico has different ingredients and/or nutritional analysis? If yes then you must realize that the ratings are done by using the information provided under each food, information for foods available in the US.InkedMarieMemberA couple things….I assume you think your dog isn’t full; if yes, what makes you think that? Why do dogs need to feel full? We, as humans, don’t *need* to feel full, just satisfied.
October 21, 2014 at 7:29 am in reply to: Dog accidentally ate… So worried! Please help #55264 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberCrates, IMO, are a very good tool, especially with puppies. I found better prices online, I got my Vari kennels at Cherrybrook online. Look at craigslist. If you’re on facebook, join your local online sales groups, both for pets & general.
InkedMarieMemberI don’t know if they’re safe but considering there are hundreds of other dog treats out there without recalls, why feed them?
InkedMarieMemberHaving a dog with diabetes isn’t cheap, unfortunately. If food cost is an issue, can your friend afford to care for the dog? Sorry to have to ask…
InkedMarieMemberPoor Bruno. I agree with Dori, feed him his normal amount.
InkedMarieMemberI’m not Melissa but I believe she means Italian Greyhound.
InkedMarieMemberThe best way to get more water is to feed a raw, canned or dehydrated food. If you must feed dry, add some canned to it with water.
October 18, 2014 at 8:03 am in reply to: which would be the most "budget friendly" raw diet (already prepared) kf #55003 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberFor another prepared raw, I like Vital Essentials. I do ground raw that I get from Hare Today and Reel Raw. All you need is a scale, weigh & feed.
October 18, 2014 at 7:57 am in reply to: What dog food gives you the best "bang for your buck"? #55002 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberMelissa, if my iPad learns words from me, I’m in deep trouble lol!
October 17, 2014 at 1:04 pm in reply to: What dog food gives you the best "bang for your buck"? #54955 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberOmg Melissa, I was roaring reading your post!
For the OP, Dr Tims is a good prices food & some come in larger bags.
InkedMarieMemberHi Courtney,
I had a dog with frequent UTI’s and he was diagnosed with struvite crystals. My vet had me give him one 500 mg vitamin C a day but you don’t do this without your vets okay. It is extremely important to get enough liquid into your dog. Dry food is the worst you can feed. Best is a raw diet, canned or dehydrated. If you must feed dry, add canned & water to his food.
Don’t worry about low oxalate foods unless it’s needed. I would not use a prescription food at all. If your vet tells you to, I’d find a holistic vet to go to and get their advice. Keep us posted on how she is.October 14, 2014 at 3:17 pm in reply to: Suggestions for dogfood that helps firm up stool #54727 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberHi Karen,
It’s great or add canned but Little Cesar is not a good food. In the search above, search for recommended canned foods to try. I don’t think many of us care for Blue; how long have you been feeding it? How long have you been adding the canned? I agree with Sandy about NutriSource. Be careful not to over feed; that can cause loose stool. Have you tried probiotics?InkedMarieMemberFYI, it’s Bernese Mountain Dogs. Burmese are pythons, I believe or are those cats?
October 14, 2014 at 3:01 pm in reply to: New to rotational feeding: How am I doing? #54724 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI subscribe to online sites that I buy dog food from so I get emails, apprising me of what’s on sale. It’s a great way to buy dog food for less money. Chewy.com, wag.com, Petflow.com, SportDogFood.com and petfooddirect.com are ones I recommend.
InkedMarieMemberI use Farmina for one of mine and love the results! She is on the grainfree boar & the gf fish is next.
InkedMarieMemberGo to Chewy.com. In their sesrch, type in slow feeding bowls. We use the ones that are titled “dog games”.
InkedMarieMemberYou can use canned, dehydrated or ground raw (pre made or ground from hare today, reel raw or my pet carnivore)
October 8, 2014 at 5:44 am in reply to: HELP! Ratio of toppers to kibble and raw??? #54173 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWe have no schedule here but mine eat twice a day & it’s around 8-10 hours between meals.
InkedMarieMemberOthers have given great advice; I just wanted to say welcome from a fellow Brittany owner. My Ginger is four years old.
InkedMarieMemberI had great luck with Core reduced fat.
InkedMarieMemberFind a new vet! I only use Bug Off a Garlic for fleas & ticks.
InkedMarieMemberI love Panera! I’m steering clear of bread these days but bacon turkey bravo & turkey bacon avocado were two of my favorites!
Report back on the meeting.
InkedMarieMemberBuddy Biscuit itty bittys, SoJo’s, The Honest Kitchen are some I use.
September 29, 2014 at 3:16 pm in reply to: Need help selecting a dog food for 3 dogs-2 with ear issues #53328 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWill you order food online? A good amount of us here do.
InkedMarieMemberI used Wellness Core reduced fat with great luck. While I haven’t used it, I’ve heard good things about Annamaet lean.
September 29, 2014 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Where do I begin to start food eliminations? #53324 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWhat kind of ear infections does your dog have? If yeast, I suggest no grains and no potatoes. Definitely no grains and I’d keep away from chicken. I’d start with turkey. make sure you keep the bag so you know what the ingredients are.
InkedMarieMemberWhy only venison? You say allergies, what proteins exactly is he allergic to?
September 27, 2014 at 7:16 am in reply to: Vaccines and Over Vaccinating: Do You Agree? Did You Stop Vaccinating? #53135 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI wouldn’t have caved. Shame on the vet bringing up the expense; shows some are all about the money. Why did you take appointment with this vet, why not schedule it with the other one you mentioned? I’ve been yo practices with more than one vet & I schedule appointments with my choice if vet, unless I have a sick dog. If you had titered, it would show if the dog had enough immunity.
As far as cost, for some, titering IS more expensive but you don’t titer to save money, you do it do you don’t over vaccinate a dog.
InkedMarieMemberWell, I gave you options, from my experience with these crystals, which were helpful and worked for me. You don’t seem to want to use my suggestions do I’ll bow out and hope someone comes along with the answer you want to hear.
