Thank you for the links, Sandy!
InkedMarieMemberI was a “late bloomer” in researching vaccinations. My older dog, who will be 7 next month, got titered for the first time 3.5yrs ago. The holistic vet has opted to NOT re-titer him, saying his levels are just fine.
My younger girl is 2.5yrs old. She came to me at almost 5mos of age…..she had had two or three sets of puppy shots by then. That was all she got, she was titered the first time a little over a year ago. She just went to the vets last week and like my older one, she opted to NOT re-titer him.
There is a chance that we may be getting a third dog, a puppy. I will have to call the vet to ask when she wants to do the first titers.
My dogs get rabies every 3yrs, which is law here.InkedMarieMemberWow. What’s next?
InkedMarieMemberI’ve tried coconut milk before, didn’t really like it, maybe I’ll give the water a shot!
InkedMarieMemberMike: Yep, I understand that as well. First time I called, he was kind of huffy, explaining why they ran out (daily special). What does that have to do with emailing the customer and telling them it’s on backorder? Second time I called, I wanted to cancel but he talked me into waiting, going on about the great deal.
InkedMarieMemberOohh Mike!
Let me tell you my Doggie food.com story. On November 27th, I ordered eleven 4 pound bags of Nutrisca, which was their special of the day. On December 1st, I get an email saying it’s been shipped, with a link to check the status, which says it’s arriving December 5th. It doesn’t arrive so on the 6th, I call. They tell me they “ran out” of the food because it was a special but two loads were due. Nothing showed up, then they tell me the following Friday. That was last Friday, I get no email saying it’s been shipped so I called last Saturday and they say it didn’t arrive. I cancelled the order and don’t think I’ll be dealing with them again.InkedMarieMemberI would really get him off the Royal Canin and no Science Diet. Your dog will thank you for it
InkedMarieMemberEles, what food are you currently using? A grain and potato food would be a good place to start. If you look under the dog food ingredients forum, I have a stickie there with a list of foods
InkedMarieMemberEles7: Brothers is a very good food. Read the reviews from actual Brothers customers on the dogfoodadvisor. There are many dogs who are doing exceptional on the food, one of my dogs included.
InkedMarieMemberEles: It’s a shame I feel this way but I don’t listen to my vets when it comes to nutrition, except my holistic vet. I wouldn’t use Science Diet or Royal Canin, there are so many good foods out there!
InkedMarieMemberI agree with HDM about spacing. My holistic vet, who we saw yesterday with Ginger, tells us to give it every 42-45 days, May thru October
InkedMarieMemberHi Honeybee, no, I’ve never heard of her but i will look, thank you. Valerie, I didn’t realize Thailand had such strict standards, that’s good to know.
Labs, no Costco around here do it’s not even an option.
I was at a pet store I like and got a case of Wellness 95% salmon, 30% off. Pretty good deal.InkedMarieMemberThe only thing I don’t like about Weruva is that it’s made in Taiwan (I think that’s where I read). I’d prefer USA made
InkedMarieMemberWhen I’m on my computer tomorrow I’ll try to find the link
InkedMarieMemberDowsky: awhile back, Evangers got caught: in some of their canned food, the protein listed on the label wasn’t in the can. So, it’s not a product i’m comfortable feeding. I may try the Merrick though, thanks!
InkedMarieMemberThanks HDM! I rarely use it but I think I want to add some to Gingers new food when it gets here
InkedMarieMemberLabs, I understand how you feel. Our two grandaughters go to preschool. One at a church, the other at a high school. That one scares me, you just never know. I had to turn off the news tonight because I just can’t watch any more.
InkedMarieMemberI agree with Patty on the Brothers Allergy
InkedMarieMemberMy dogs get puppy shots then get titered; we do rabies every 3yrs. Heartworm prevention is something I won’t take a chance on. Honeybeesmom, you know you have to have them tested for heartworm before putting them back on prevention, right?
December 15, 2012 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Choosing food for my overweight senior dog #10945 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI used Wellness Core’s reduced fat to help a dog we adopted lose weight but it’s above your price range. Good luck.
InkedMarieMemberI think it’s a good idea if only so you know what proteins your dog can eat without a problem. We never know when our usual dog food can’t be found.
InkedMarieMemberBeth, do you mean Dr Mike, the administrator of this site or Dr Tim from Dr Tim’s food?
InkedMarieMemberMike, thats why this list is here, it is potato free
InkedMarieMemberif you only knew how often I’ve typed most of that up….
InkedMarieMemberMike, I sent you an email in the “contact us” form, asking you to make the above a sticky. Thank you!
InkedMarieMemberToo bad HDM, i’d be posting your HB there tomorrow!
InkedMarieMemberHDM, you on FB? Thats how I knew about her birthday!
InkedMarieMemberwe all have such cute dogs!
InkedMarieMemberOk, so do you want me to type it up and email or message you or type it up here, then let you know via email or message?
December 13, 2012 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Help Choosing Dog Food for My 2 Swissies #10810 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberMelissa, glad you piped up….I didn’t realize you were feeding Abady til a few days ago. What Abady in particular are you feeding? To all your dogs?
December 12, 2012 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Help Choosing Dog Food for My 2 Swissies #10768 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWell, I could refuse the order but I’d have to be home and they will have already charged my card. If I have no email telling me it’s shipped by Monday, I’m going to just cancel it.
December 12, 2012 at 7:08 pm in reply to: Help Choosing Dog Food for My 2 Swissies #10757 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberHDM: it’ll be awhile. Two weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of Nutrisca (4lb bags) from Doggiefood.com; still waiting for it to arrive. I called today to cancel the order but they said it is due in on Friday. If I don’t have an email by Monday, telling me it’s been shipped, I am going to call and cancel.
Whenever I do put her on the Pursuit, I will let you knowInkedMarieMemberWe scoop in the kennel & yard with a spoon and put it into a grocery store plastic bag. During the cold weather, we leave a bag out for a day but in hot weather, right into the trash can it goes. When we walk, it goes in a poop bag that we buy, with handles. It goes home into the trash.
December 12, 2012 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Help Choosing Dog Food for My 2 Swissies #10746 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI do not yet have experience in this but take a look at Dr. Tim’s food. He (Dr Tim) actually called me on the phone today! I will be picking up some of his Pursuit. It’s rated very well here on the DFA. Look at PetFlow.com and Chewy.com to buy, unless you have a place close enough to you.
InkedMarieMemberI adopted a dog years back who came to us obese. We used Wellness Core’s Reduced fat to help her lose the weight.
InkedMarieMembershibasenji: I have portraits of three dogs but don’t know how to put them here. You’re welcome to email me at [email protected] and I will email to you!
December 11, 2012 at 8:33 pm in reply to: Any way to add a "Like" button to the comments #10688 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberYay, we have a like button!
InkedMarieMemberThank you, HDM! When my kids were born, my parents were Mimi and Pop Pop. When we had our first grandchild, nothing else sounded “right” so Mimi I am!
InkedMarieMemberShawna, when our youngest was 11 months old, it was Christmas time. We put the tree in the playpen.
InkedMarieMemberWelcome Brad! Daisy is adorable! I especially love the one of her with the pug, all curled up together!
InkedMarieMemberI’ve never had a problem with a dog trying to pull the tree down, only a kid (we put it in the playpen one year). We do have to make sure there are no wooden ornaments within reach or Boone finds a new chew toy:)
I have three trees. One in the breezeway and a small one on the dining room table (not decorated, only lit) and one in the living room. We have three mostly to piss off the neighbors, truth be told.
InkedMarieMemberI tried a few from Merrick but one of mine was very possessive of it so we didn’t fee them again.
InkedMarieMemberThe Whole Dog Journal did a series on home made diets for dogs, I think they had raw in there too but am not positive.
InkedMarieMemberA few years back, we adopted an obese dog. We used Wellness Core’s reduced fat to help her lose her weight. It worked. Green beans are a great idea too!
December 11, 2012 at 10:24 am in reply to: Pictures of Dogs Eating Raw & Raw Meals #10645 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberthats the one, Shibasenji!
InkedMarieMemberI’m not having any trouble posting but I am clicking the “notify me of follow-up replies via email” and it’s not “taking”
InkedMarieMemberI must make good dog food choices because nothing I’ve fed in the last few years is on Janus’ list
InkedMarieMemberYay, you figured out the pic thing, she looks great!
InkedMarieMemberMike,
So far, I like it! Hope we get more forums (such as an intro and an off topic one), this should make alot of people happy on DFA, the ones who are here strictly for information and no chit chat.InkedMarieMemberJanus, maybe I need to go back to sleep because i don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
