I just googled them anyways, lol! Very interesting! Are they real expensive?

My doberman was like that and my boss’ dog that he had that just passed was like that too. I always thought that was weird too! Maybe they need an audience, lol!

What are Himalayan Dog Chews? I guess I could have googled it, but I’m lazy tonight.

Jude, I really don’t think you offended BCnut! Not sure that’s even possible, lol! You are not annoying anyone. We are all here to learn and welcome questions! It’s pretty much trial and error. While one dog may do awesome on any given food, it may not work for another dog. You’re right, you buy what you think is best and see how your dogs do. Unless there is some kind of intolerance to a certain protein or ingredient, I’m sure they’ll do fine.

Good luck!! & don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you happen to see the thread I started about starting my dog on raw from a year and a half ago, you’ll see I asked a TON of questions. & everyone here was more than happy to answer them. πŸ™‚

Awesome, good for you & your baby! & you can’t beat that price! I going to do titers on Bailey come spring when her shots would have been due, but I highly doubt it will be that cheap at my vets. Here’s hoping though!

I totally agree about the rabies. She is due for that in the spring and I so want to skip it. Damn laws!

    So happy for you! πŸ™‚

I’m so glad you commented on this BCnut! I was thinking about this all day and remembered she did write “Emaciated” in the title, so, or course, you are completely right.

Without seeing the dog, I was just picturing a regular pitbull, but, if she’s been starved, yes, I totally agree with what BCnut said…

If you click on the pic, it opens better. It doesn’t look so squished then.

I only have a sec, but to attach a photo, you need to use Photobucket, or a similar site & then just paste the link. Hope that helps! Would LOVE to see a pic of her. I love pitties. My girl is a pitbull/border collie mix.

Oh, well that explains it, lol! We’re not like that here, not usually anyways, lol! We all try to help each other because we all have the same goal…..making sure our pets are well cared for and loved.

Sounds like you’re offering excellent foods, is she just not eating them or just not putting weight on?

I would just suggest any kind of canned food along with some canned pure pumpkin for the runny poop. Poor thing! I hope you get her to eat.

Why would you think you’d get nasty comments? We’re a polite, helpful bunch here….most of the time! πŸ˜‰

    Good luck with her!

Thank you Nancy, regarding the compliments on my Bailey. She is quite the sweetheart. Speaking of border collies, Bailey is a border collie/pitbull mix, or so I’m told. I do see some traits from both breeds in her, so I think they may have been right. & Bailey’s best friend is a border collie. This is Bailey and Chase. πŸ™‚

Ha ha!! I got a kick out of those “recipes” too BCnut! I clicked on everyone, just to see if they said the same thing, lol!

Akari, you should ask Shawna on here if there is anything she’d like you to ask. She was recently blocked from one of Purina’s facebook pages for sharing her point of view. Too bad she doesn’t live near you, I’m sure she’d LOVE to sit in on that meeting. Lol!!

Nancy, just to let you know, you’ll probably have to brush your dog’s teeth as well as using RMB’s. My dog eats all homemade raw, but her front canine teeth still get tartar build up, so I brush them a couple times a week.

I believe you have to watch their bone intake because they can get too much calcium, if I’m not mistaken. I’m not sure what you’ve used already, but I think a good size turkey neck would be fine for your dog. I rotate between turkey necks, goat or rabbit pieces, chicken backs, duck necks, etc.

I know exactly what you mean about all the note taking. Last year, before I started raw, I researched and took notes and printed things out for 2 months straight before I started my dog on raw. It’s been a year and a half and I haven’t looked back…\

    Good Luck! πŸ™‚

C4C, I wouldn’t get those smoked bones sold in pet stores. My ex boyfriend used to get those for his pitbull and they break off into big shards of hard bone. I was horrified at the size of the pieces and the sharpness of them. Never again!

I agree with the others, buy a bag of food for them. The Pure Balance is good and doesn’t cost all that much more than the crap they’re buying now. Tell the owners to trust you and within a few weeks they will see a difference in their dogs. Also, they will be saving money on vet bills and all the meds. Once they can see a difference in their dogs, that will say it all. Unless they just don’t care that their dogs are miserable… Good luck!

Edit* Regarding the sardines. I give my 50lb. dog a tin of sardines in water twice a week. Make sure they are packed in water and no salt added.

I think there is a thread on here somewhere about that. I remember reading it a while back and I believe it was called “Reverse Sneezing”, if I’m not mistaken. Apparently it’s not that uncommon. I had never heard of it before I read that. So, you’re not alone Naturella, it happens to other dogs too. Glad Bruno is doing ok! πŸ™‚

Hi Dori, did you mean how am I able to “print” them or how do I “share” them? Those coupons I got were in an email. I took a screen shot of them, uploaded them to photobucket and posted them that way, like you have to do for pictures. It’s kind of confusing but I finally figured out how to do it. I don’t know if there is an easier way to do it or not. There probably is, that’s just the way I know.

& to print them, you can do it the way I explained above in my other post…

    Hope that helps! πŸ™‚

I’m on a Mac as well. For me, I can just drag the coupon to my desktop and print it from there. I don’t remember what to do on a regular pc, but I believe how Bobby dog explained should work. Or, you could always do a screen shot of it and print it like that. I’m not all that computer savy…

Kind of funny story about using peroxide. One time, my cat had eaten a little ball of thread. I had heard horror stories about thread or string getting wrapped around organs or something so I was freaking out. I took my cat into the bathroom and gave him a little bit of peroxide to try to get him to throw it up. I sat and waited and waited and waited, for like a half hour in the bathroom. Finally I gave him a little more peroxide and I waited and waited and waited, nothing. So, I went to call my vet, opened the bathroom door, my cat ran out and threw up 4 times all over my dining room rug. I found the thread in the first pile and the next piles was everything he has eaten that day. Lol!

Hope your baby is doing ok Zach! πŸ™‚ Fyi, milkduds are YUMMY!!!! πŸ™‚

I really don’t think you have too much to worry about. A dog I had a few years ago for a short time ate an entire bag of 100 Grand bars. I just kept an eye on him. He was completely fine, just had a few wrappers in his poop here and there, but other than that, he was fine. I think a dog would have to eat a whole lot of chocolate to have any ill effects.

I always stop my dog, because 100% of the time she rolls in something, it’s something nasty. Unless of course she’s just wanting a good old roll in the grass, then I let her, but I can tell the difference between just wanting a good roll or wanting to roll in something gross.

I don’t use those but think it’s a great idea for aggressive chewers or a dog that likes to swallow the end while it’s too big. Very ingenious idea. & you’re welcome Dori πŸ™‚

Awwww, that’s awesome about your mom. Mom’s can be pushovers sometimes. I remember when I was in high school I found a kitten. My mom used to hate cats. My mom wouldn’t let me bring her in, it was dead of winter. The kitty would climb on top of our fence and look in the window of the back door. Lol! That was all it took and my mom felt bad. She had that cat for 17 years and it was her baby! Lol! They are even buried together, at mom’s request.

Glad to hear Ginger (or whatever your mom renamed her to) is eating! Sounds like she is settling in nicely! Good for you!

Bailey is 50lbs. She is a Border Collie/Pit mix. She loves her bully sticks still, but has gotten bored with her elk antlers. I like to order big size antlers/horns for her, because things like that last her a long time.

Hi C4C, I didn’t realize you had already told Karen about that list of HDM’s. I just scrolled thru your first comment and missed it, so I apologize. & I also didn’t realized there was another updated list on page 33. I thought I had the right updated list, lol! You’re right, wish it was easier accessible for people. HDM sure did put alot of work into that, and yes, I do believe she in fact called every company on there.

Karen, you are very welcome. We are all here to try to help each other. πŸ™‚
