Cindy, I give him honey for his allergies. It’s also good for itchiness. I just give him a little squirt. It’s 1 tablespoon twice a day for large dogs (50+ pounds), and he’s only 7 or 8 pounds. I don’t really put much science into it… Lol

Yes, the Sheba is on sale at Publix. Regular price is 59 cents a piece. On sale for 50 cents. I’m using the $3 off 24, as well as Publix coupons for B2G1 free. Came out right on target, 48 cans for $11 and change after tax. Gotta get my other 48 later lol

Going to be picking up 96 cans of Sheba up up here in the next few days. Should cost me about $20, plus tax >=3 I (conveniently lol) have it narrowed down to 8 flavors (no fish, and feeds at 1 can per 4 pounds), which means 12 of each flavor. That’ll fit right into my 30-ish day set up of food, with some extra, and I also plan on another 15 cans of price matched Wellness, which should cost me about $5. And that odd number will take care of that pesky extra can of tuna Wellness Grain Free I have laying around, since he gets two cans a day of the Wellness. Yay!

Also, I’m teaching him to shake. Because I apparently have nothing better to do with my life LOL He’s doing really good, and this is our first real try tonight. He could eat his weight in those Blue Buffalo cat treats if I let him. We must have went through about 20 tonight! LOL When he gets better at it I’ll share a video :3

The canned pedigree isn’t too bad. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a very good food, but It could be worse. LOL Not really much different than some of the Pro Plan, though. Since Haley can’t do just dry all the time, I just get what I can, and use the lower quality ones in moderation. My canned dog food collection would probably give you guys a heart attack LOL Since high quality dry food makes up the bulk of their diets, I tend to not worry about their canned. They’ve had much worse, believe me!

Mom calls him Gary or Kitty. I call him Kitty, but every night I’m “ok, tomorrow I’ll start calling him Alec!” Hasn’t happened yet…. LOL

I’ve yet to find decently priced coconut oil around here. I have tons of fish oil though, that I get with (what else??) coupons. Three a day between Haley and Dweezle means they go fast. I usually get paid for them though, so that’s ok :p Some day I’ll try them on coconut oil!

The only thing I worry about for the dogs canned is the expiration date. They only get one can split between them every week or so because my supply is running low and I’ve not seen any good deals on canned dog food lately. I do have some decent ones lined up for Pedigree and Purina One (yeah, yeah, I know. But it’s not a large part of their diet and Haley doesn’t like just dry– it’s too hard on her tummy) if I could ever get out to PetSmart to get them.

I don’t mind having a bathroom buddy lol He just freaks out if he can’t be in the same room with me. I dog sat over the weekend and stayed at the peoples house , and the neighbor said he was looking for me all weekend. He doesn’t like to be away from his mommy lol He just laid on my chest for like 15 minutes getting snuggles and scratches because he was playing with a hair tie when I went into my room to get my PJs on and he didn’t come in when I called him, so he had to make sure his mommy have him all her love before she locked him out of the room for the night lol he’s such a baby lol

Haha, my CDO (get it?? Alphabetical order?? Ha! Ha ha! *eye twitch*) kicks in when fish is involved. I want to spread it out as much as possible so he doesn’t get hooked on it or develop any medical problems from it. I can’t help it lol

They raised the price?? Rude! I noticed SAMs Club raised the price of theirs from $31 to $34 for the 30 lb bag. That’s not too bad, but it’s still the old packaging. I wonder if they’ll raise it any more when the new ones get in….?

It depends on the store. The manager here said that wellness has not told them not to accept more than one per order, so he just takes them. Their check out system is already complicated enough, so he sure doesn’t want to make life harder on himself and his staff by making it only one kind of manufacturer coupon per order. I’m perfectly ok with that lol

Most store do price match, but not many will price match sales. Just check with whatever store you shop at. They are usually cool about it.

Got another one for you guys! PetSmart has Wellness Complete Health on sale for $1.50 a can! Even better than last time!!!!! Went to Pet Supermarket again for price matching.

17x 5.5 oz cans of Wellness Grain Free Tuna– on clearance for 97 cents a can
10x 5.5 oz cans of Wellness Complete Health– price matched $1.50 a can

$4 off $20 Pet Supermarket coupon
27x $1 off any Wellness can

Now here’s where it gets fun. I usually have the manager do it, but he had the new cashier do it this time. At first, I only had 3 cans of the CH, and I did my math wrong and ended up where I would have gone in the negative if he continued on with all the coupons. So after he voided off all the coupons he rang up (almost all of them at that point– felt really bad), so I grabbed 7 more cans of CH, to get my total up where it should have been in the first place. Everything got scanned in, but it came out to $7.09, which I knew wasn’t right. I paid, then went out to the car to figure out what happened. Turns out, one of the $1 off couple didn’t get rung up, and my additional 7 cans were not price matched. Oops!

So I went back in, showed them what happened, the manager was reply cool about it, and voided the order and had the cashier do it all again. After we got it all fixed, it came out to. $2.8-something. Much better! But I still was not given my money back from the first order. The manager was going to give me the difference in cash rather than me paying the second bill, but forgot to tell the cashier that, and then got all confused. He went back and forth with himself and his calculator for a few minutes before I figure out what it was he was doing. The cashier gave me 65 cents back after some instruction from the manager, then he counted his till, then the manager counted his till again, and then the manager figured some how that I should be getting $6 and change back (the till was over by that much). So all in all, I have no idea what happened, and I don’t think the manager has any idea what happened and I have no idea how much I paid. I think I ended up making money because someone got screwed up…. Our best guess is that the cashier actually didn’t give someone the right change, so I got the extra LOL I tried to tell the manager that I didn’t want to take the money if they were going to get in trouble or screw up their till or anything, but he insisted. I feel terrible that that poor cashier had to ring that order and all those coupons up so many times!

I went in for all price matched 1.50 cans, but came out with the clearance cans, so it was a little my fault got having no idea how to do math (apparently math on the fly just doesn’t work out for me lol), and a little the cashiers for not knowing what he was doing, and a little the managers for not just refunding the first order for me to pay with the refunded money. But he was (and always is) great and we figured it out after a while lol I’ll be writing to corporate about him. This dude needs a raise or something (so long as he stays at this store!) lol

Don’t worry Sharon, I’m right there with you! Took me like an hour to sort out the cat food tonight after a great haul of coupons πŸ™‚ Most of it was fish based foods, so I had to work it out so that he only got the fish ones as less often as possible while still making the rest of the menu as fun as possible LOL I don’t have OCD issues or anything. Why would anyone say that *rolls eyes*

New cat food (all the purple cans here are tuna….)

Finally got it all worked out, on a four day rotation. Day one, Wellness Complete Health. Day Two, Friskies, and/or Wellness Grain Free Chicken and/or Turkey. Day three, Wellness Complete Health. Day four, Wellness Grain Free Tuna (with the exception of the first row, with those little 3 oz cans). Then it starts all over again.

Oh, and this cat does finally have a name! Gary Alec Jasper (then our last name). To understand this, Bentleys full name is Bentley Henry Eddie The Biebs (then our last name). I was sticking to the theme mom created lol Now it’s just a matter of breaking the habit of calling him “Here Kittyyy” and calling him Alec LOL

Also, I’ve created separation anxiety cat. When I make it into the bathroom alone, he sits outside the door and cries and scratches. If I leave the bathroom door open (or don’t close it all the way, and he gets in), he sits in the bathtub and hunts me till I call him out. If I’m in the shower and gets in, he sits on the counter and stares a hole through the curtain till I come out. When I go in my bedroom and start to close the door, he runs full speed to come in with me. When I try to get out the front door, he tries to slip out with me (he doesn’t do this with anyone else). He comes to me to for attention, comes when called (when I call him, anyways), let’s me do whatever I want to him (my favorite game is Shaken Kitty Syndrome :p lol). He’s bonded with me very strongly. Not that I’m complaining πŸ™‚

I keep my lab mix on almost exclusively on high protein (30+ %), grain free foods because she does terrible on most grain inclusive foods (drops weight, poor coat). Every dog is different, and not all grain free are created equally. Saying that all labs must have a certain type food (or all of any breed, for that matter) is like saying a certain diet is appropriate for all people, regardless of their individual needs.

Definitely check out the large breed puppy thread. I’m not sure of it’s on there, but I’m partial to Wellness CORE. My dogs do great on all the ones I’ve tried, and with local sales and Wellness’s $5 off any size bag coupons, I get it for about $2 usually. I also like the looks of NutriSource. I’m just now venturing into the brand, with Super Performance, a high calorie, grain inclusive food, but they have something for everyone. The dogs are just now about 50/50 into that, so I don’t have much to say about it in action yet, but many people use the brand and love it on here. I’m not sure if any of their foods are appropriate for a LBP, but it could be something to look into later on when your guy is an adult, if not. πŸ™‚

He eats it anyways, but he doesn’t like to work too hard for his food lol He could eat and eat if we let him, but I guess this stuff mixed with his dry food is just too hard to get out of the corners of the bowl, and he gets lazy LOL The cat has no problems coming over and finishing it off for him *rolls eyes* at least they both know to eat what you get or you don’t eat lol

Bentley actually isn’t too pleased with it. Especially when it’s really thick and he has to work too hard to get it all out of his bowl (I always mix with kibble so he’s got something to chew on) LOL He’s actually left it a few times, and then the cat comes in behind him to finish it off :p

Hey guys! I’m about to try something out….

Pet Supermarket just got in 2 lb bags of Wellness Toy Complete Health, in various life stages and whatnots. They are regularly priced at $8.99, but since they’re new, they are $3 off (all 2-4 pound bag of the toy foods are), which makes them a whopping $5.99 a bag. Combine that with their $5 off any size bag coupon, and you have yourself Wellness for $0.50 a pound! I’m going to go further than that and combine them all with a $2 off $10 purchase coupon, so I’ll be about $8 plus tax for 20 pounds of Wellness! It’s not grain free, so thats something to keep in mind if that matters to you. My dogs don’t care, so I don’t care! Need less to say I’ll be stocking up on this. I try to do grain free, grain inclusive, grain free, and so on, and the dogs are currently on NutriSource Super Performance, which is grain inclusive and chicken based, like the Wellness, but I’m sure they’ll live. Mommy ain’t made o’ money, you know! lol So I plan on doing that for the next couple days until the $2 off $10 coupon expires the end of the month. Gotta feed them puppies! :3 Pictures to come of how I make out πŸ™‚

(Side note, I could do the deal with the $4 off $20 coupon, but I’m pretty sure they’d hate me for clearing their shelves in one go LOL).

He tucks himself in under the covers, too. He never grew out of his sleepy puppy habits lol Play hard, sleep harder! :p

Not sure what his allergies are to, but NutriSource Super Performance is extremely high calorie (529 per cup, I want to say?). It is chicken and grain based, though. NutriSource also makes grain free foods that have various protein sources, that are also high calorie (just not quite as high).

When I needed to get weight on my 11 year old lab mix, I used Wellness CORE puppy with really great results.

We came home today to the strong smell of cat poop. Granted, I’ve not changed the litter in about 2 weeks (I was testing the fancy black box of Arm and Hammer– works great for a week, then works ok for another couple days, but I’ve used better, so I’ll only get that when I get a good deal on it). Usually he gets smelly when he gets something new, so I’ll just give him Friskies tonight.

Anyways, I went to change the litter (cause who wants to smell poop smell till garbage day??), and of course he hopped right in as soon as I took the top off the box. Then he sat there about a minute, so I stood there to see how much pee he put out, to see if it was comparable to how long he was sitting there. All he put out was this much:

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/63F5B7F4-688E-4BEA-BEB1-55ED935214B9_zpsvvqvkybl.jpg

That doesn’t seem like very much for how long he was in there. He also started breathing heavy about half way through. Both me and Bentley were standing over him, but that shouldn’t really have bothered him. When he got out, I also noticed another spot that was still really fresh, and much smaller, in the back corner.

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/C0E06715-17FC-49D7-A531-63CEB7D5D448_zpsipx9kptv.jpg

So I’ll be getting on that urine sample now for sure.

I haven seen anything for Purina, either. Oh well. I do still have my BOGO Pro Plan cans, if they’re still good.

Btw, I tried out the Wellness Complete Health this morning, and he loved it. Ate every last bit, after a trip to the litter box about 3/4 of the way through. I gave him a whole 5.5 oz can because I knew I’d be out most of the day, and couldn’t do three feedings. I’m debating on whether or not I should give him a can of a Friskies for dinner, so that he has something he’s used to having in his tummy after all that new food, but at the same time, he gets a good about of the other Wellness (slices, and minced, and whatever’s), so it’s shouldn’t be too different than what he’s used to. I’ll see how his poops are when I clean the litter box later. If they’re yucky, I’ll give him Friskies, if they’re good I’ll give him the other can of Wellness CH.

The trick with the Wellness coupons is that you can only access the printing page twice per month, but you can tell it to print however many you want when are on the printing page. At least on my computers it always does. And it does track by your IP address, so you could use several computers if you already accessed the printing page twice on one computer. I’ll be printing more here soon. I’ll try and remember to take a screen shot when I do to show you what I mean.

    Today’s haul!

34 cans of Wellness Complete Health, 5.5 oz cans, for $19.93!

PetSmart has them on sale for $1.60 a can. Since they are crap heads and won’t take more than one like Manufacturer coupon at a time, I said screw you, and skilled them all together and went to Pet Supermarket. The manager is much nicer there, anyways. He even saved me from the scary stalker-nerd cashier to ring me up lol

Anyways, he price matched all the cans for $1.60, then took my $4 off $20 store coupon, and I have him 34 $1 off any size can of Wellness dog or cat food. $20 for 34 cans of wellness is a steal!

There are some clearance tuna ones that I tempted to go back and get, but I really just want to avoid fish, as much as an even better deal calls to me LOL

Hey guys! I had a big long post written out last night but my computer decided it didn’t want to internet any more. Basically, we don’t think he has a UTI, we are leaning more toward the flea dirt catching moisture in the bathroom, since it’s the only place we’ve seen any blood on the floor. Vet still wants a urine sample, and told me to try packing peanuts in a clean litter box. Just gotta to buy a cheap litter box now lol But I’m glad I paid for the office visit, rather than siting around worrying if he had one or not. It sure beats the $100+ if he did!

Mom bought him a nice cat tree last night for $112 at PetSmart (they’re all on sale!!). We split it, actually. I’d been asking her if we could build one, and by the time we have all the stuff and work put into it, $112 seems fair not to have to plan and cut stuff :p

I also picked up 34 cans of Wellness Complete Health Grain free (Beef and Chicken, Turkey, and Chicken flavors). I’m surprised to see these have considerably less carbs than most of the CORE. I emailed wellness and asked for the as fed carb values of the cans, and was amazed at how high some of the COREs are! Anyways, for $19.93, I got 17 days of food. I’d have paid that for Friskies, just about, so for a couple more dollars than Friskies, I think I did good! Details will be in my coupon thread πŸ˜‰

I also got his food all planned out for the next 29 1/2 days. I think I need something else to do with my life LOL Just wait till I use my Sheba coupons! I get to rearrange them all again!

These 2 pound boxes are samples. Says so right on the box. I’ve never seen them on the site before, so my guess is they buddied up with HK and did a promo for them. Once samples are gone, they’re gone.

Danni, yes my goldfish adventure started with Magikarp, then later Feebas and Seeking. I actually just lost Seeking last year (tried moving them from one pond to the other and couldn’t catch Feebas) but he jumped because he couldn’t find his buddy. Him and Feebas were very closely bonded. And just last week, Feebas died. She hadn’t been the same with out Seeking. It’s weird how bonded they can become to other goldfish.

I also forgot to say that I also use undersized ones for Haley. She’s 60 pounds. I use the 16ft leashes for her. Those are typically used for small dogs up to like 20 pounds or something. Like I said, she’s extremely well behaved, and mindful of commands.

I would try a 6ft flexi city leash first, and see how they do on those first. Maybe use easy walk harnesses if any of your guys are a little stubborn, and bring back up leashes just in case.

It takes a very special dog and handler to be able safely use a retractable leash. I use one for my oldest dog, but she doesn’t react to people and dogs passing by and needs only a quiet verbal command to listen. I even go so far to use a cheap off brand one. With out seeig the dog in action, I can’t reccomend a retranle leash to just anyone, either.

Goldfish are just silly little puppies! I love them πŸ™‚ I’m getting pretty discouraged with them though because the stock is so terrible, and like you said, they’re all sick! I’ve lost one to swim bladder, another is right behind her, one that I rescued from PetCo with one eye is about to loose her other eye because she smacked it on something and it’s filled up with blood (she’s a telescope), and countless fish have just up and died for no reason, both right after bringing them home and even after having them for a year or more.

And then there’s gill flukes. God I hate gill flukes!!! Nasty little things are hard to kill and every goldfish you buy down here are infested in them. I’ve got a good strategy down for killing them though. ParaGuard the crap out of them for the first week the fish is in quarantine, and watch real close the second week. ParaGuard is a great full spectrum med for parasites, fungus and bacterial infections. I love it! Just wish it was more concentrated though lol

I must say, I really love my good old fashioned Neon tetras. They are so awesome! And I’m having surprisingly good luck with PetSmart stock. I used to buy Floirda raised neons up in Pensacola from a little shop called Water Wonders, and they were hands down the best looking and healthiest neons I’ve ever seen. They were breeding the day after I brought them home! But these PetSmart guys are doing pretty good! My school of 12 has only dropped down to 10, and some were old anyways (had a school of 6 and bought more).

Oh! I just realized! My HK should be here today!!!!!

Hey! Yes, I do still have my babies πŸ™‚ And Patty is right, I have a horrible goldfish problem LOL

I’ve got 13 goldfish (I think….? I have a lot lol) between two ponds, 125 and 150 gallons, and one aquarium, 50 gallons. The 50 gallon also has some platies and swords, and swamp darters and a goldspot pleco. I also have a 29 gallon all planted up with a male GBR, 10 neon tetras, a couple guppies (the stock here sucks and they keep dying on me) and a breeding pair of albino Bristlenose plecos. The male is long finned, and I have a ton of babies too! πŸ™‚ Then I have two 6 gallons, one a QT (which is currently holding my new Goldie guy :p), and one split in half for two bettas. Normally I would feel bad about that, but one is really old and spends all his time in the gravel these days, and the other is lazy, so it works out alright lol

And actually, my uncle texted me today and asked if I wanted his Jack Dempsey because his gold snook was picking on it. So I’ll be putting the stock in the 29 in the 50, and setting up the 40 breeder for the JD, and I’ll move the sailfin over to the 40 breeder so she doesn’t bother my BNs. I’ve got some work to do tomorrow!

I’m sure it’s not flea dirt. It’s like blood dried to the floor. Even if it isn’t blood, and he doesn’t have a UTI or anything like that, I’d like the vet to check out his tail. That greasy stud tail is getting old lol

I forgot about the empty litter box idea! I have a couple laying around. Maybe I’ll lock him in the bathroom (wow, this cats gets locked in the bathroom a lot LOL) with one and see what happens.

Ooooh fun times -_- cats got another suspected UTI. Vet appointment for tomorrow at 3;30. I’m glad I got my tax check, and that I only need about $160 of it for something else so we have some wiggle room for th vet, because I wouldn’t have been able to afford this otherwise! I’m going to stop dry food completely, even though I’m adding water and not even feeding him a full serving. Maybe he’s just one of those cats that can’t handle it? If it’s not a UTI, then we still need to figure out what’s going on and why he keeps leaving little blood specks all over the tile when he sits in one spot for a while. He still doesn’t really drink water, but I add to his food so that’s probably not too big of a deal. So, we’ll see. I’ve been instructed to try and get a urine sample, but he backs up to the front corner of the litter box to pee, so I dunno how well that’ll work out lol

Thanks Cyndi! That’s one of the sites I found. Glad I found a good one!

Marie, I think it’s the same for ticks as it is for fleas. Just rub it in to the fur.

Thanks Bobby Dog! I found a few last night, but I still want to see how you guys are doing it rather then reading how people I can ask questions to are doing it.

You’re welcome! I was going through some other, much smaller and normal sized bags and jugs, and to have them shipped, it averaged about $30-$60 for a 1-4 pound container!! Heck no!!!!! I’ll buy that crap at Home Depot for that lol Home Depot does actually sell a small shiny yellow bag, but I don’t think it’s food grade. Once I found this, I didn’t care any more lol

And just think! It’s for bugs! You can say you saw ants in the kitchen or something LOL

Ok. I can always start with a little and then add more if it’s too thick, right? (I wouldn’t see why not, but you know).

To you guys who have it already, or have used it, how much water should I put in the food to make it more like oatmeal/porridge? He wouldn’t enjoy having to work too hard for his food (lapping it up) lol He’s going to be getting about 1/2 cup dry.

Here’s a link on Stud Tail. Looks like it’s more a long haired cat thing.
