pugmomsandyParticipantI have many dogs so I have 3 bags open at once. When I started rotating or offering variety, I would serve all three and when one bag would run out (not at the same time), I bought a different food. So they always had “old food” along with “new food” so they didn’t get a transition. I also use different canned food toppers. Now, I wouldn’t suggest making a big jump from 1-2 star food to a 5-star food. That’s too much change. Especially since you’ve only fed one food forever. Just go with the next level up and as he tolerates better food, keep increasing if you wish. I will say I keep my foster food around 3.5-4.5 stars and I give them probiotics and digestive enzymes.
pugmomsandyParticipantYes you can
April 4, 2014 at 2:06 am in reply to: need advice for low fat/low fiber dog food #37710 Report AbusepugmomsandyParticipantFYI, the canned foods I listed were in dry matter.
pugmomsandyParticipantAt one time, the USDA set the maximum allowable limit for salmonella in human grade chicken at 23%. I’m not sure what is now but there’s more salmonella allowed in human food than there is for dog food. Bravo tested positive for 2 fractions of salmonella, so they had to recall.

pugmomsandyParticipantI like Earthbath, too. I’ve been using the Mediterranean formula. Also picked up a gallon of Zymox shampoo which I haven’t used yet. I also have some Mercola pet shampoo and Dr Bronner’s.

pugmomsandyParticipantI have raw fed dogs too, but also feed kibble and canned and dehydrated. They eat Core, Nature’s Logic and Nutrisource grain free foods.
March 29, 2014 at 7:17 pm in reply to: Low fat, lower protein senior canned dog food out there? #37132 Report AbusepugmomsandyParticipantSojos Complete Beef is only 24% protein and 12% fat. This is a freeze dried food that you add water to before feeding and it absorbs liquid well. AvoDerm Weight Control Chicken and Rice 23/14. Canidae Life Stages Platinum 24/18. Wysong Senior 22/14.
March 29, 2014 at 6:12 pm in reply to: Distilled Water for Dogs on Commercial Raw Diets #37117 Report AbusepugmomsandyParticipantWhy is distilled water sometimes recommended for dogs who have urinary crystal issues? Due to the reduced minerals? Is this one of those situations where one must chose between the better of two evils, per se? LOL!
pugmomsandyParticipantI fed several cases of Addiction before I found out it was canned at Evangers. I do like it and the dogs didn’t have any issues. I want to try some Cocolicious too.

pugmomsandyParticipantYes, Human Style in Thailand, not Diamond. I haven’t looked into their Kobe line.
pugmomsandyParticipantWeruva Human Style is made in Thailand.
pugmomsandyParticipantPremium Edge and Country Value
pugmomsandyParticipantI’ve only had a few dogs not do well on Merrick. They’ve moved on to other foster homes or have been adopted out. But the remaining dogs have done fine with it. Both lines are high in protein so I have to adjust it for the fosters but my personal dogs have not had a problem with it. The 14 yr old here is still eating Merrick.
pugmomsandyParticipantWeezerweeks, if you break the chewables into four pieces, they are still about the size of small kibble. Since you feed canned food, I would just get the granules.
pugmomsandyParticipantDoes anyone know how to post pictures from shutterfly? Or from my desktop?
December 9, 2012 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Pictures of Dogs Eating Raw & Raw Meals #10459 Report AbusepugmomsandyParticipantHmmm…I’ll need to figure the picture thing out!
pugmomsandyParticipantThis is the one Dave’s Hounds posted: http://www.uniquelyemu.com/whyemuoil.htm
pugmomsandyParticipantI’m using grain free freeze dried foods as treats. They are small like cookies and can break apart easily to split between dogs if I want to. Currently using the ones from Instinct, Nutrisca and the Carnivore Crunch by Stella & Chewy’s. The Carnivore Crunch is small like regular size marshmallows. I also give Dr Becker Bites (liver treats). For teeth cleaning I just give them a marrow bone, or rib bone or other bone to gnaw on.
pugmomsandyParticipantIt’s me!
