Here is the 43 lb (originally) on the left. He was 39 lbs in this picture, then the 28 lb pug and then my 23 lb pug.

It can be done (pug weight loss without diet food). One of mine gained 10 lbs (to be 38 lbs) the year after neutering then lost it all the next couple of years.

Also, the pugs gained muscle weight when fed the mod-high protein foods but they lost in size that’s why I usually suggest that people take body measurements. My fawn in the first photo has a 22 inch chest and 17 inch waist and 13 inch back but he is 22-23 lbs not 18 like a similarly sized foster pug is. I had one small foster who weighed only 13 lbs and I swear the wind blew her over several times! She was fragile, no muscle mass.

It depends on the size of the pug. They come in so many sizes now. I don’t have “standard” sized pugs, lol! My “normal size” pugs at age 6 eat 2/3 cup a day and weigh 22-24 lbs. My 10 yr old large pug eats a rounded 2/3 cup a day with treats and weighs 28-29 lbs. I’ve fed my “standard” sized fosters 2/3 cups a day. My 15 yr old xlarge (and I mean tall and long – showing some Mastiff traits) pug eats 1 cup day. I had a large female who looked optimal at 27-28 lbs as she was wideset – big head, chest and hips and short legs like a bulldog. And sometimes they get a little wet food on top of the kibble. If they were only eating kibble and canned regulary, they would get 1/3 can and 1/4 cup kibble. The younger ones I might feed 1 cup a day. For my personal ones, they eat such a variety. Dry and wet, raw and wet, just raw, just RMB.

This is one of my standard ones: looks great, but technically overweight (that’s why I don’t go by weight, I use body condition)

    http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u651/pugmomsandy/pictures%20for%20posting/plutoharness2_zps6d5c006c.jpg

This is a regular and large pug:

    http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u651/pugmomsandy/pictures%20for%20posting/0bd6f2d9-225c-454e-9521-122834da060d_zps44b288af.jpg

Here’s what I mean when I say they aren’t just “standard” size anymore! These are both adults:

    http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u651/pugmomsandy/pictures%20for%20posting/dooceyboss_zps22223e38.jpg

I’ve had obese ones here. And guess what – I fed them 2/3 cup of kibble to get them down. I’ve had a 43 lb pug before too. Down here in my area, it’s too hot now for outdoor fun. No walking or dog parks until October.

Awww, and here is her sad “intake photo” at the rescue. She is so full of joy and happiness. It is hard to understand why her old owners let her get into this shape.

Peachy is our newest addition to the family! Prince is not sure what to think of his new sister yet. Both are rescued mini poodles and both were unclaimed stray dogs. Seeking out a good food for Prince (who we adopted in 2011) is what led me to DFA!

Don’t worry Sharon, I’m right there with you! Took me like an hour to sort out the cat food tonight after a great haul of coupons 🙂 Most of it was fish based foods, so I had to work it out so that he only got the fish ones as less often as possible while still making the rest of the menu as fun as possible LOL I don’t have OCD issues or anything. Why would anyone say that *rolls eyes*

New cat food (all the purple cans here are tuna….)

Finally got it all worked out, on a four day rotation. Day one, Wellness Complete Health. Day Two, Friskies, and/or Wellness Grain Free Chicken and/or Turkey. Day three, Wellness Complete Health. Day four, Wellness Grain Free Tuna (with the exception of the first row, with those little 3 oz cans). Then it starts all over again.

For the full breakdown of my coupon trip, see the coupon thread 🙂

Oh, and this cat does finally have a name! Gary Alec Jasper (then our last name). To understand this, Bentleys full name is Bentley Henry Eddie The Biebs (then our last name). I was sticking to the theme mom created lol Now it’s just a matter of breaking the habit of calling him “Here Kittyyy” and calling him Alec LOL

Also, I’ve created separation anxiety cat. When I make it into the bathroom alone, he sits outside the door and cries and scratches. If I leave the bathroom door open (or don’t close it all the way, and he gets in), he sits in the bathtub and hunts me till I call him out. If I’m in the shower and gets in, he sits on the counter and stares a hole through the curtain till I come out. When I go in my bedroom and start to close the door, he runs full speed to come in with me. When I try to get out the front door, he tries to slip out with me (he doesn’t do this with anyone else). He comes to me to for attention, comes when called (when I call him, anyways), let’s me do whatever I want to him (my favorite game is Shaken Kitty Syndrome :p lol). He’s bonded with me very strongly. Not that I’m complaining 🙂

This dog has the strangest sleeping habits. How is he comfortable like this??

We came home today to the strong smell of cat poop. Granted, I’ve not changed the litter in about 2 weeks (I was testing the fancy black box of Arm and Hammer– works great for a week, then works ok for another couple days, but I’ve used better, so I’ll only get that when I get a good deal on it). Usually he gets smelly when he gets something new, so I’ll just give him Friskies tonight.

Anyways, I went to change the litter (cause who wants to smell poop smell till garbage day??), and of course he hopped right in as soon as I took the top off the box. Then he sat there about a minute, so I stood there to see how much pee he put out, to see if it was comparable to how long he was sitting there. All he put out was this much:

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/63F5B7F4-688E-4BEA-BEB1-55ED935214B9_zpsvvqvkybl.jpg

That doesn’t seem like very much for how long he was in there. He also started breathing heavy about half way through. Both me and Bentley were standing over him, but that shouldn’t really have bothered him. When he got out, I also noticed another spot that was still really fresh, and much smaller, in the back corner.

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/C0E06715-17FC-49D7-A531-63CEB7D5D448_zpsipx9kptv.jpg

So I’ll be getting on that urine sample now for sure.

the wellness newsletter I get allows me to print each coupon (the $1/can and $3/dry) two separate times, but it says that each coupon is uniquely coded and cannot be used more than once and that “photocopies, additional prints, or alterations constitute fraud”. My local pet stores just raised the price of Wellness cans again to $1.89/can of the 5.5oz. One increased the price first but another was holding out at $1.59/can for awhile, so I would use my coupons and buy a few extra cans there from time to time, but last week they went up to $1.89 too so from now on I am just going to buy all of my wellness online I think. I have been buying a case of 12 of the 12.5oz size from Chewy.com for $23.40 and that has been working out well for me. That works out to be $1.95/can which is a good deal, and I am not having to throw any away so far. I get 2 cases of the Turkey(green can) and one Turkey and Salmon (purple) because my cats do not seem to like the chicken formula as much and when I get the large cans of that variety I do wind up throwing some away.

It’s been going away with the brewers yeast pills. I don’t know if it happened to just be starting to go away anyways, or if the pills are helping it, but as long as it’s going away, I’m good! Lol

Here’s the email wellness sent me.

I’m surprised how high the C/S/M ones are too. He’s been eating on those since I got him pretty much! Yeesh!

Good luck with your stocking up! If you get any good deals with coupons, you know where to put them 😉

    Today’s haul!

34 cans of Wellness Complete Health, 5.5 oz cans, for $19.93!

PetSmart has them on sale for $1.60 a can. Since they are crap heads and won’t take more than one like Manufacturer coupon at a time, I said screw you, and skilled them all together and went to Pet Supermarket. The manager is much nicer there, anyways. He even saved me from the scary stalker-nerd cashier to ring me up lol

Anyways, he price matched all the cans for $1.60, then took my $4 off $20 store coupon, and I have him 34 $1 off any size can of Wellness dog or cat food. $20 for 34 cans of wellness is a steal!

There are some clearance tuna ones that I tempted to go back and get, but I really just want to avoid fish, as much as an even better deal calls to me LOL

Here’s a pic of my score today 🙂

Works out to .59 cents a can! 🙂

Hey guys! I had a big long post written out last night but my computer decided it didn’t want to internet any more. Basically, we don’t think he has a UTI, we are leaning more toward the flea dirt catching moisture in the bathroom, since it’s the only place we’ve seen any blood on the floor. Vet still wants a urine sample, and told me to try packing peanuts in a clean litter box. Just gotta to buy a cheap litter box now lol But I’m glad I paid for the office visit, rather than siting around worrying if he had one or not. It sure beats the $100+ if he did!

Mom bought him a nice cat tree last night for $112 at PetSmart (they’re all on sale!!). We split it, actually. I’d been asking her if we could build one, and by the time we have all the stuff and work put into it, $112 seems fair not to have to plan and cut stuff :p

I also picked up 34 cans of Wellness Complete Health Grain free (Beef and Chicken, Turkey, and Chicken flavors). I’m surprised to see these have considerably less carbs than most of the CORE. I emailed wellness and asked for the as fed carb values of the cans, and was amazed at how high some of the COREs are! Anyways, for $19.93, I got 17 days of food. I’d have paid that for Friskies, just about, so for a couple more dollars than Friskies, I think I did good! Details will be in my coupon thread 😉

I also got his food all planned out for the next 29 1/2 days. I think I need something else to do with my life LOL Just wait till I use my Sheba coupons! I get to rearrange them all again!

Hi, I would like to suggest review of Magnusson. It is small Swedish family factory producing oven-baked dog food and it is first and as I know only organisation to produce dog food monitored and approved by KRAV – a controlling body accredited by IFOAM.

I am always looking for products with the highest possible quality, so I am interested about your opinion on this dog food.

I appreciate the fact that it is a small family company with minimum advertising. Even the bags are made from recycled paper without attractive color or photo design. And even English (or my native Czech 🙂 home website is missing. Just a small family business…

What i like: no ads, KRAV certified, 100% fresh meat, no meal, no artificial additives, hormone free, slow baking, organic product quality, no GMO, Environmental Policy

Thank you for the condolences. Yes the disease that took Kimi was devastating and terrible, the worst part was that it came so unexpectedly out of the blue and took her so quickly, within a matter of months from the first signs of it she was gone from my life forever. While nothing will ever replace Kimi in my heart, while she was the most special animal i’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, we have found a way to try and move forward from this experience. In Kimi’s memory we have opened up our hearts and home again to another akita:

    http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx118/Kimi_forever/IMG_7071_zps9181fecd.jpg

Nothing will ever be the same, but hopefully our new girl will bring us some of joy in our lives that kimi showed us akitas are capable of.

Again thanks everyone for being so kind..

Ok, so a little thing I noticed…. You guys may remember me saying I got a flea collar for the cat a while back. Well, I took it off about a week ago. It hit me that his face wasn’t as fluffy as it used to be, and that he was really scratching at the collar a lot. After a closer look, he also has a scab on the side of his neck, and a bald ring where the collar sat.

Here’s a picture from before the collar:

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/2A46772B-40BA-4DE5-890C-83F400CFB78C_zpsqi1schna.jpg

And a week after having it off.

    And here’s his neck

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/323CF7A5-64CB-4808-BECB-C08A9B425C3E_zpsj9r1n2hx.jpg

And him snuggling on the couch with Bentley 🙂 (you can also see his neck his bald here)

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/F3BB3F31-18E7-46A4-9B5B-E3DF56ECA471_zps6vyuo6um.jpg

I did some googling and it seems this is a pretty common problem. Some cats have even died from these collars! Why are they still selling these?? Is there anything I can do to help the fur grow back?

Anyway, I’ve been doing brewers yeast and garlic pills every day for the fleas for the last week or so (when ever they came in the mail, I took the collar off and started those instead). Whatever fleas are on him are sluggish and don’t seem too happy, so maybe it’s working? Even if it’s not doing anything for fleas, it’s helping his greasy tail, which I figured out is called stud tail and can get pretty nasty when not treated.

    Hey Naturella:
I was just going to suggest what Akari suggested, freeze them or some of it, if you are able to. I know not everyone has freezer space. I have some freezer space, not much, and when I began rotating I didn’t take the large bag-lack of variety-thing into consideration for a medium sized dog. So I did buy some large bags at first because of course it is more economical. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a big bag if my budget called for it now either, but with sales/coupons I have been doing pretty well. I do have part of a large bag of food in the freezer now that I will finish soon.

I am on a very tight budget too so I know how it is. With Akari’s tips on sales/couponing I have been able to buy small bags at just a little more per pound than I would pay for large bags.

Eventually when I settle into more of a steady rotation, depending on how my finances are, I will probably buy a few large bags of food (more economical) he does well on and then throw in some small bags of other brands for a rotation. Who knows, it all depends on what Bobby needs and does well on.

Not that I am encouraging you to buy more food or anything….lol Anyway, Bruno looks great from the photos you share! His dark fur looks nice & shiny and he looks like he is a perfect weight.

I was getting the dogs set up on their new Pet Botanics food last night, and found two impostor pieces that were very different from the little round “cocoa puffs” that the food is supposed to be. Any idea on what they might be? What else does Cardinal Pet Care make?

Thank you, very much, i truly appreciate it. I miss her everyday, she touched my whole family’s lives. I couldn’t believe what was going on with her, i still cant believe she’s gone. I truly believe if it wasnt for the cancer she would have lived to be 14 or so years old. She was the sweetest girl to all people (but still an akita) and she truly loved children. She loved going on walks and just being a lazy akita. She lived and died for her family, i was just so sorry we couldnt do more for her. It truly broke my heart, i lost a family member and my best friend, and nothing will ever replace her in my heart. She taught me and my family so much. In the end i just view myself as lucky for having her for the time i did, she was a fantastic dog.

Here is one more picture of her full grown playing with GSD friend:

I lost my girl Kimi after 9 1/2 years this december. She was always a healthy dog until she was taken from us by a terrible cancer, hemangiosarcoma. She was a huge part of our family and will be truly missed. I cant wait to meet her again at the rainbow bridge…

Here are some pictures of her:

Gizmo is my only dog. He’s a 7-year-old classic tri-color papillon. I adopted him from PapAdopters and Placement Services on February 16th of this year. He was relinquished to a local shelter because his owner just didn’t have the time for him (she was a business executive that did a lot of travelling and boarded him every time she travelled). He was at the shelter for an entire year before breed rescue got him. He spent a month in a foster home until his adoption.

I have 2 cockatiels, Riley, a 5-year-old pied tiel, and Bailey, a 3-year-old pearl tiel. These are my first birds. Riley was acquired from the now defunct Petfinder Classifieds from a couple who ran a photography studio out of their own home. They claimed he was too noisy and distracting so they had no choice in re-homing him. Bailey was purchased from a local breeder. Gizmo has been learning to co-exist with the birds since his adoption.

In addition, I have a turquoise male Crown Tail betta named Victor who calls a 5-gallon tank home. (I’ve been keeping betta since high school.)

Since everyone is so in awe of my couponing, I figured I’d make a thread where everyone can post their couponing trips, and ask coupon questions 🙂

Heres what I did today at PetSmart 🙂

1x 3lb bag of Simply Nourish Source Rabbit and Chicken cat food– reg. price $9.99
2x 5lb bags of Pet Botanics Grain Free Dog food (one Lamb, one Salmon)– reg. price $14.99 each, on sale for $9.99 each
2x 18 count (12oz) bags of Petit size Greenies– reg. price $16.99 each, on sale for $13.99 each
2x 3oz cans of Simply Nourish Source cat food (one Beef, one Venison)– reg. price $1.19 each, on sale for $1 each

Total regular price is $76.33, without tax (which is 7% here).
After Pet Perks sales are applied, $59.95, without tax. To the non-couponer, that would sound great, but to me, thats terrible! Thats like a quarter of my paycheck LOL

    So my coupons were:

$5 off off any Natural or Specialty Dog or Cat Food (prints on the receipt of a previous purchase, and gives you a specific list of foods to choose from).
2x $5 off any 5lb or larger bag of Pet Botanics Grain Free Dog Food (found in a pamphlet by the food)
2x $10 off any 12oz or larger package of Greenies (Pet Supermarket coupon, received in an email. I will share that below)– These are pure gold!
2 cans free of any brand stated on the coupon (prints on the receipt of a previous purchase)
$4 off $20 Pet Supermarket Coupon (reveived in an email, and will share below)
$3 off any purchase $3 or more PetSmart coupon (prints on the receipt of a previous purchase)

After coupons and tax were applied, I scooted on out of there for just $17.07! And mom owes me $8 for the Greenies for her dog (Bentley) lol So really, I only paid $9.07 >=D

Here are those Pet Supermarket coupons!

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/april2014_Petscoop-4-off-20-April-2014_zps342f6f12.jpg

Remember when using competitors coupons at *any* store, that you check and make sure what stores they even take. My PetSmart will take PetCo, Pet Supermarket and PetLand coupons. They should take whatever is directly around them. And always follow any coupon, either manufacturer or competitor, to the tee. Manufactures pay the store back the face value of the coupon, PLUS 8 cents (sometimes more, its stated on the coupon). So they make money on these. If you continually screw them out of their 8 cents, even on accident, they’ll hate you forever. And they aren’t payed back for the competitor coupons, so use them well, or they can refuse to take them all together.

I have more to share! I just have to find them in my various dog and cat food threads LOL If anyone has any to share, post away! I love hearing about good deals 🙂

    Hello All:
Happy Easter to all who celebrate!! 🙂 Does anyone know who cans Chicken Soup, Natural Balance, or TOTW? You both (C4c & Jakes mom) mention you feed them and I have not tried those yet.

    C4c:
Love the Easter photos, they are precious!
I think the Pro Plan and One are overpriced as well, but if you catch a sale or have coupons the prices are okay. Their ingredients are a little better than Friskies and my cats certainly eat it like it’s Friskies. Gives me a few more choices for their rotation.

There are several lines under Pro Plan, One, Fancy Feast, and Sheba. I chose the recipes below based on having a named meat as the first ingredient, ingredients, and low carbohydrate content; no recipes contain wheat, corn, soy, glutens, or starches. Of course Friskies Poultry Platter is listed! 🙂 I have fed everything listed except the Pro Plan Savor and Focus lines, and my cats loved it all. I listed the undesirable ingredients included in each brand or noted if a recipe did not include them. Most of the Purina lines contain fish; Sheba doesn’t unless it is in the name of the flavor. Here’s my “grocery store” list of cat food:
    Pro Plan –
    • Finesse – K3, artificial flavors, meat by-products
    • Chic & Liver Entree Classic
    • Savor – K3, artificial flavors, fish, meat by-products:
    • Beef & Carrots Entrée Classic
    • Chic & Spinach Entrée Classic
    • Salmon & Wild Rice Entrée Classic
    • Turkey & Veg Entrée Classic
    • Focus – K3, artificial flavor, fish, meat by-products, added color:
    • Chic & Beef Entrée Classic
    • Kitten Chic & Liver Entrée Classic

One – K3, artificial flavor, fish, meat by-products, poultry by-products, added color, corn oil, sodium nitrate
    • Classic Turkey (no fish)
    • Classic Beef
    • Classic Chic

Fancy Feast – K3, artificial flavors, meat-by products, poultry by-products, added color, and fish
    • Turkey and Giblets Feast Classic (no added poultry by-products or color)
    • Tender Liver & Chicken Feast Classic (no added color or fish)
    • Kitten Tender Turkey Feast (no added poultry by-products or fish)
    • Fish & Shrimp Feast Flaked (no added poultry/meat by-products or color and contains sodium nitrate)
    • Kitten Tender Ocean Whitefish Feast (no poultry by-products)

Friskies – K3, meat-by products, poultry by-products, artificial flavors, and fish
    • Poultry Platter

Sheba – K3, meat by-products, poultry by-products, added color, Sodium Tripolyphosphate
    • Beef entrée
    • Beef & Chicken entrée
    • Chicken entrée
    • Chicken & Liver entrée
    • Cod & Shrimp entrée
    • Salmon entrée
    • Salmon & Shrimp entrée
    • Turkey entrée

The one picture up there is closer to how big they were inbetween his UTI treatment and me changing the litter to the BB walnut stuff. Still not quite as big as they were, but better than the teeny little ones he was doing after I changed the litter.

I took some more pictures last night, but they are all bigger again, which is good. One was still sorta small, but not too bad.

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/CA2A422E-802E-43E4-9493-E52B3009C10C_zpszwoevvps.jpg

The bigger two not in the scoop are bigger than they look, but whatever lol The smaller one is in the scoop. I think he was just on litter strike, because once I started adding normal litter back in there, he started peeing more. I dumped that litter last night (was waiting for garbage day, since he was doing better), and as soon as I got clay litter back in there, he was in the box doing his thing (I haven’t dug around in there yet, though). I guess I’ll just use this walnut stuff to spread out the clay a little bit.

I’ve been looking at Natures Variety for him, actually. The canned, and sort of the raw lol About how much do the different raw diets cost? I’ve got three or so of those $3 off coupons they just mailed me, so that’s a possibility.

Here’s a picture of one of the things of pee I pulled out tonight. This one is how big they usually are, much larger than how they’ve been the last few days.

Does this mean that maybe he doesn’t have a UTI, since he’s apparently able to produce this amount of urine?

I bought from a reputable petstore which specializes in organic and holistic dog food. I called them immediately of course. He told me he buys his ‘pizzles’ and bullies from a meat company in Wisconsin. It was the opinion of my veterinarian that something must have gotten into the machines which process these pizzles because he does not believe those were edible product pieces. Of course, how does one PROVE such a thing; I simply KNOW what I gave them and I know that is what it was, which is even more disturbing. Yes, thank you, also praying tomorrow brings better results and his GI tract will calm down and go back to normal without problems. Yes, I have photos of what ‘came up’ and what ‘came out’, as well as bags of the items in my freezer for proof. SIGH.

These are a couple months old (I think from February), but I thought the ordering of the pictures was funny. Loki is my silly lil man. I know his herding breeds are known for grace and focus, but he knows neither very well LOL!

Two ears! “You have my full attention, mommy!”
     photo imagejpg2_zps40856d29.jpg

One ear: “Half attention…that chew toy looks nice…”
     photo imagejpg1_zps0a7de9b3.jpg

No ears: “Did you say something? I was just staring at that toy…that is a really nice toy!”
     photo imagejpg4_zps36ccf9d2.jpg

No ears AND a tongue! “Mmmm… I’m bored. Let’s go attack that chew toy now! Bye bye!”
     photo imagejpg3_zps1a5f26d7.jpg

(No, his ears/tongue don’t really indicate his attention amount, his wiggle-butt and slowly pulling it up off the ground does though!)

Isn’t Loki such a cutie pie? And to think, he was a rescue dog possibly on death-row!

Yep. That’s Shasta. A very small amount of his black is truly black. All of the black hairs have either tan tips, or a steel-gray undercoat.
Here’s w better recent pic: I know, it’s hard to believe, but he’s got little to no GSD in him. Evvvvryone looks at his color and automatically says “Look at that GSD!” But his personality doesn’t resemble one at all, and he was the only pup in the litter to be black/tan, so color doesn’t say too much when it comes to mutts. His dad was a lab/wolf, and his mom’s line was mutts (I knew his grandma, and even she was an absolute mix lol)

I think the reason is because they can also go to they can easily get to a store for something that /is/ made by Hartz. Spreading the word via internet doesn’t seem to help, as (sorry for being rude) people are idiots. They can’t decipher truth from lies – they see a story that’s obviously fake, and believe it. They see one that is just as obviously real, and they disbelieve it.

Sorry for random vent: but they once laughed and disbelieved a picture that I posted of Shasta and me when he was a puppy. It was because he did something called changing colors and growing up – pretty common with a /lot/ of dogs/breeds. I even added a pic of him and me at 6mo (in the transition period) and they still laughed and cussed me out for having a different dog. Smh.

Ah, here’s that pic: believe it or not, he’s got little-to-no GSD in him. That coloration comes from his hound, he was the only black/tan pup in the litter (others were tricolor, gray, or black)

    Topic: Best Name?

As some of you know, I’m starting a little treat-making business to sell at farmers markets.

I am horrible at coming up with catchy names, so I’d like your help! The name needs to be:
No more than 3-5 words long
Something to let people know they’re healthy, holistic, organic, etc but not necessarily using those words
May include a name: Shasta, Cassy, or Loki (I’d rather no name unless it just sounds so darn good)
If you have several name suggestions, please post!

To further give you an idea, here are some of my flavor names:
-Lucky Loki’s Lifesavers (promotes fresh breath and digestive health w herbs, chlorophyll, and charcoal)
-Coat Care (with coconut oil, flax, fish oil, etc.)
-Green Goodness (with various green veggies)
    -Pumpkin Flax
    -Classic Peanut Butter
    -Apple n’ Oat

Not too motivated to help me? I’m offering a prize to the winner! Whoever makes the best name will win a free pet-drawing! Sorry, I won’t mail you one, but I will draw it and post the drawing for you. Here are a few of my pet portraits (I only do dogs. No cats, birds, reptiles, etc)

Yes, I think he may have Heeler in him. The color resembles blue Merle much much more than it does the blue color of heelers though. He had a very soft double-coat (only double during winter months).

I’ve narrowed it down to 4 breeds that he has at least two of: Australian Kelpie (he has a frame much like one), Heeler (veeeery strong jaws, and attempts to snap at the feet of anything moving), Aussie (blue Merle color is the only reason, really.), and border collie (he also has a natural tenancy to do the crouch-and-stare when he sees something to potentially herd). I’ve done research on all four of those breeds. He has certain characteristics of all of them, in my opinion.

I don’t think there’s anything outside of those four herding breeds….who knows? Maybe he came from someone who was trying to invent a new herding hybrid with traits of all those! XD pics don’t do much justice….always seems different in real life, but here are a few more..

If Loki is the dog lying down next to the dog with the blue collar sitting in ur photo from the post “What part of the world is everyone from” I can see Australian Blue Cattle dog in him, he has the white grey & black on his head & white & sholders & the white front legs a colour that is very Cattle dog, These dogs are used in Australia as farm dogs & very smart. We call them Blue Heelers …I cant add a photo of the Australian Cattle dog, but if you google Australian Cattle dog or Blue Heeler u’ll see what I mean…

Took the kitty outside this morning, and he had lots of fun!

I did, at one point, have to pick him up off of the porch and drop him in the middle of the yard. Once he realized he could actually walk in the harness, he scooted around the front yard and ate grass, and tried to hunt an egret, and learned about fire ants, and how if you lay in their hill or in their path, they bite the crap out of you LOL Poor guy XD He is still unsure about the harness, and tries to back out of it randomly when walking around (thats pretty funny lol), but once he has it on for a few minutes, he’s ok with it, and figures out that he can actually walk around in it. He also likes to hunt the plastic piece on the Flexi Leash :p

    LOL

So far we haven’t coned him yet. He’s getting a little better about always licking his incision, but I still catch him every now and then. He’s feeling better though, and jumped the baby gate to get into moms room last night (and ran around my room meowing all night). He was hunting the dogs last night too lol He doesn’t like anyone touching around his “private area” even before he was fixed (took and the vet to hold him down to check and see if he was neutered or not), so I don’t see anything that’s not in spray form working out very well LOL

    Hi Brandy –

Just because a dog gulps kibble doesn’t necessarily mean that they will gulp RMB’s. The goal is to only feed RMB’s large enough that they have to chew (the RMB should be bigger than their mough). For example, I’d never give my two girls (large bloodhounds) small chicken necks or wings because they would just swallow them, instead I give turkey necks, chicken quarters, chicken backs etc. I’ve also heard of people putting clamps on the end of RMB’s if their dog still gulps. My suggestion would be to try giving your small dogs bones that are obviously much too large for a meal (i.e. a turkey neck) and when they’ve eaten an appropriate amount take it away and refrigerate for the next meal. When it’s eaten to the point that it’s small enough to swallow, remove it and dispose of the bit that’s left.

With that said, if it turns out that your dog can’t eat RMB’s safely it’s certainly okay to not include RMB’s in the diet – of course you will then need to add supplemental calcium and be very proactive about dental care because your dog won’t be getting the calcium and dental benefits that RMB’s provide. Good luck and come back if you have any more questions! 🙂

He’s approached me several times again tonight! He tends to hang around for a minute or two, then go off a short distance (like the back of the couch behind my head), and keep “guard” or watch the dog. He’s also hitting off a bit better with Bentley. He likes the dog from a distance best (hey, even I don’t blame him for that LOL), but tonight the cat was starting games with him. Annoying games. Like, flat-out-sprint-across-the-house-and-see-if-the-dog-can-catch-him games. Omg I was ready to kill them both LOL

Anyways, I made room in the dog food cabinet for all this cat food. Before I started, I pulled out two bags of food to make room for the cans, went into the kitchen for a minute, and came back out to this…

I guess the dogs have a new item on their menu LOL

Anyways, I sorted out all the cat food so that he gets Friskies Special Diet every other day to every two days. There’s too many to spread it out more than that, but it should be ok, I think. Here’s my stash:

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/5040055C-2DCF-4C23-B06C-15605A8EA106_zpshzqnomrz.jpg

That can of Pedigree (sshhhhhhhhh), that’s it. Everything behind that is cat food. I could have stacked more, but I was trying to keep daily portions as separate as possible. This cat is set for a while, that’s for sure! Lol

Sooooo awesome that you’re from Australia!!! I’ve always wanted to go there!!!!! 😀

I’m on the Oregon coast (west USA). I have 3 dogs:
Cassy, 1/2 Lab 1/2 GSD (since the mother’s GSD didn’t show up in appearance, we just call her a lab), she’s 12
     photo image_zpsdcbc4750.jpg

Shasta (left) is a 6yr mutt. His dad was a lab/wolf, and his mom had some of everything. I know he has some hound and possibly border collie (he’s smart as a whip and has a great big sorrowful “bail”)
    Loki (right) is a 3-4yr Kelpie/Aussie.
     photo image_zpsc1840923.jpg

Then I have cats, chickens, ducks, a miniature pony, and my biggest puppy-dog, Inigo Montoya (he’s about 15mo), a Holstein steer. Nope! He is NOT beef! He’s my lawn-mower, companion, and future mount 🙂

Ok, so I’ve portioned out the cans so that he’s eating the recommended amounts off each can a day. The Sheba pate he only eats 3 cans of a day, which is awesome, but it’s pretty expensive, and Friskies is fed in the same amount, and they look pretty similar, other than the price (60 cents for a 3 oz can of Sheba vs $1 for a 13 oz can of Friskies. Just sayin’….). But anyways, I tried to work it out so that after he eats 5 cans of the Wellness, he only eats 3-4 cans of something else, then 4 cans of something else-else, and then back up to tons of wellness. Like, I work him up to the wellness, and them give his tummy a rest from all that food with just a little the next day. The biggest problem with this wellness is that it’s slices and not pate, which is why the calories per can is so low. Anyways, he gets a diffrent brand every day, rather than every meal like I was doing. It’s easier to keep track of how much he should be eating.

Alrighty! Got some stuffs for you guys. Well, stuffs for me, and stuffs to tell for you :p

Did a coupon trip, and got three 6 pound bags of Blue walnut litter for $8, and all of these:

    http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/Akari53/C2F9528D-560F-4630-94D8-59017FE43EC2_zps26oy4uae.jpg

For a whole 70 cents! 🙂 took bad it’s only 4 days worth. This stuff is so calorically inefficient it’s ridiculous! TWO of those big cans don’t even feed him for one day. Geesh! I may or may not go back for more. It’s such a good deal (97 cents per small can, plus an extra 25% off, PLUS $1 off each can coupon, or 1.37 for the big cans, plus 25% off, plus $1 off each can coupon– makes the big cans 97 cents a piece, before the coupon and tax!!), but at the same time, he’d need 18 oz of this food a day! We’ll see…. Lol
