I agree in part and when taurine is added one never really knows how much is being absorbed after processing. However I still maintain that grain free is not a “better” diet if dogs were eating their ancestral diet grain would be part of said diet. Curious what makes think that you are able to say that any dog who eats cereal isn’t healthy? Are you a dem or nutritionist scientist ?Seems to me the science is pointing in the other direction currently but either way that was a ridiculous statement for you to make We can agree to disagree and carry on. Do what feels right
    for your dog.

Anon101 just an fyi it’s not that a food is grain free it is the peas or legumes that are being linked potatoes as well including sweet potatoes. In the study done by ucdavis fromm did not do well which surprised me as I feed fromm. It seems about 50% of dogs on fromm had low taurine levels. I reached put to fromm they do add taurine to their food. The gold grain inclusive line appears to be better balanced. My head spins with all the new info coming out.

Hi lindsey sorry your baby isn’t feeling 100%. I have a newf who went through much of what you have described. We did all the recommended things from Id(which really is junk)to boiling chicken and rice. Remember what needs are breed for the diet they would thrive on if doing the job they were breed to do. For one of my girls it was indeed chicken causing her tummy issues. When we stopped all chicken things improved greatly. I used rice baby food it is predigesteted and her gut won’t have to work as hard to digest it. To that I added canned salmon or sardines in water it took about a week to completely resolve. I then put her on I then slowly and I mean 5 kibble at a time weaned her onto totw I am not a huge fan because it is a diamond product but as feeling sort of limited in my choices at the time. The calcium phos.% although not ideal was not horrible compared to some foods I had researched. I kept her on that for 1 year then decided as she was older and more able to try fromm again (which is what everyone else eats) I seriously added 5 kibble at a time over a period of weeks. She did great and to this day is good with fromm I use a little kibble lots of fish vit.c and fish oil I also boil a mix of different meats and freeze 30 days at a time worth with fruits and veggies added in. Newfs.are special they grow in 2 years what humans take a lifetime to reach so go easy and slow with everything. Most importantly is enjoy every second of puppy nonsense because they really do grow up much to quickly.

Along with benadryl I would also ask your vet who manufactured your last rabies vaccine and ask for a different manufacturer Pfizer might cause an issue but Merck will not as the can be preserved differently and it is often the preservative that causes an immediate reaction. Good luck!

I have found that rice is actually hard to digest for dogs with tummy upset however several years ago I started using baby food rice cereal instead it is predigested so I think it is easier for dogs to handle i do that with pumpkin and usually salmon as the add in for protein and probiotic if needed

Keep in mind that a Newfoundland primary diet is normally fish based they need the oils to have healthy coats and skin. Make sure you not only use a fish oil everyday but add in fish as well to the kibble I use salmon or sardines only In water also several times a week I add in 1200mg of fish oil daily. We had crappy skin with litte sores for awhile tried several different foods finally ended up on fromm gold lb and the above plus I use raw veggies as snacks no dog cookies at all and her skin is great and her coat is soft and shiney. Becareful not to over bath her newfs are waterdogs who have a natural oil in their coat which will dry out if over bathed with shampoos

There are already many issues with the pet smart chewy buy out. Many foods have pulled business dealings with chewy due to pet smarts involvement fromm is only 1 of them. Tuffys pet food has also ended all buisness with chewy as well as well as champion. I think if it works for you great but honestly I choose not not to support pet smart or chewy anymore. I have pulled most of my business at this point and am looking to find other suitable places to shop.

I am in the same boat we have been using fromm large breed puppy and now use the lb adult I can not find a food I like better. I did however find it on pet flow and am having it delivered. I have also called a few local small pet stores that carry fromm although they did not have lb in stock both were more than happy to order it for me! So definitely shop around and try pet flow so far it is ok they don’t have as much to choose from and I definitely like chewy web site better but willing to stick with it of it means not changing her food.

I reached out to chewy several times to find this out and after much dancing around my question was finally told they couldn’t tell me that information. Based on that I would not use it

I use sardines (a whole can ) 3 times a week the other days I will use salmon or a chicken duck or lamb protein I also add 1 fish oil capsule daily. I am currently using fromm large breed. Her coat looks amazing before the fish was added in it was very dull looking.

I use fromm gold large Breed puppy for my newfoundland it has been fantastic and she loves it. I also use a rotation of canned food and fish. I would definitely take him of purina you said your vet put him on an antibiotic and wormed him both of those things can cause loose stool. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria in the gut as well as the bad you can add a probiotic to his food and some all natural pumpkin for the next week or so if his stool is still loose. Good luck with fromm the LBP has an excellent rating the LBA has an ok rating although I am not sure why.

Food is her trigger the food you suggested has egg which also on the no list for a dog with chicken issues.
