ok, I won’t give him any anymore. I do have one other question. We walk 1-3 miles a day/night. I was informed by someone with other yorkies that I have to watch their blodd sugar since I walk him so much and said she gives her yorkies a few honey nut cheerios. So after our walk I give him a handful. Agree? Disagree?

He’s a yorkie. He’s almost 9 months. I just wanted to be able to give him my leftovers, instead of throwing them out, at night. 🙂

Every kibble I’ve tried feeding him except BB freedom gave him diarrhea. Now his poops are perfect to a little too hard on BB. But when I give him human food, some of it is loose. I’ll let him lick the top of my yogurt, or give him a penne noodle, or a little piece of a bagel bite, or a cheeto. Anything, I just make sure it’s a tiny tiny piece.

Oh, he can’t handle anything over 30%. I tried Origen and Acana (diarrhea) and Holistic Select (wouldn’t touch it) and Wellness Core (wouldn’t touch it) and BB, now I’m trying Go!. I wanted something with a few different flavors/protein choices so I can rotate within the same brand (I was told I wouldn’t have to transition then). The best poops he has is on BB chicken and rice puppy. But he doesn’t do well on the beef. And I was also told to not stick with one protein source b/c they can develop an allergy. So changing within the brand is ideal. It seems he does well around 27%. And with all the BB issues I just wanted something else. Researching I found that Origen/Acana was like the “best”, but that’s not an option for his tummy.

My dog is on Sentinel as well. So he got fleas, and the Parastar didn’t kill the adult fleas. But since I’m on Sentinel I have nothing to worry about because it’ll kill the eggs? Is that right? So I tried Frontline Plus. I waited 24 hours, and the next day we went outside for a short walk and came home. He laid down and started biting his paw. I jumped up and grabbed the flea and tick comb and he had a flea on him. But prior to that he’s been good for days without any fleas or flea dirt on him. He just got him from our short walk. He’s like a magnet. My friends don’t think that normal. I’m a little concerned. Should I be? I thought maybe it was me and putting the topical stuff on. Maybe I don’t do it well enough. Hence the research and finding a chewable alternative. He’s a yorkie. I get him groomed every 4 weeks and keep his hair short. It’s too short to separate to apply it, but at the same time it’s like long and it seems to just go all over his hair. That’s why my vet said to use the Seresto Flea and Tick Collar. He hated it and I didn’t care for it either. After a few days I went out and bought the frontline plus and put that on him.
At least it will be winter soon and I won’t have to worry about fleas.

I actually bought the Seresto collar! He has it on now, since I applied the Frontline Plus Sat and found a flea on him yesterday. I don’t prefer the collar and he isn’t much of a fan of it either. And the topical is so messy and I seem not to have any luck with it. A chew just seemed perfect. I came across Comforis, that seems pretty promising for fleas too. So if I were to get that, I would need to buy a topical for just ticks then, is that right? I live in PA. I’m preventing year long. He’s a flea magnet. I do everything I’m suppose to and they still find him.

No 🙁 It was like 3 days! I took him to the vet this morning. He said initially his digestion issue could be from the transition, but it’s because he was eating his poop! Of-course I don’t let him eat it! It’s just that it’s pure liquid, so it’s impossible to pick it all up. Then the next time we go out, he sniffs it out and gets a lick in before I’m fast enough to pull him back.
Plus for vacation we were at a friends house for a week (3 weeks ago) and they have 3 small dogs and a fenced in back yard. He literally went around and ate all their poop! Then later puked it up on their living room carpet! I went around and tried to pick it all up outside and kept him on a leash and walked him around after that. So maybe it was still in his system from then, and changing his food on top of that didn’t help!? The vet gave me an antibiotic and a probiotic and I switched his food to Holistic Select Adult/Puppy dry food and he absolutely loves it! It smells sooooo good too! So I think I’m sticking with that. I just want a firm normal poop now! Vet said to stop the chicken and rice and just give him that. They advertise it’s like yogurt for dogs. He’s the pickiest when it comes to food (didn’t care for but would eat BB, hated Wellness Core, loved Orijen), but he’ll eat any animals poop! “They” say he’ll outgrow it. idk? I tried those pills stool-no! Didn’t work.

He’s 9 pounds. I’ve been giving him about 3 tablespoons full of rice and about 3 tablespoons of chicken twice a day.

His orange poops are from the chicken and rice though. I didn’t go very slow with the transition 🙁

Thanks! Right now I have him on the chicken and rice diet, as of Thursday night. And his poop is liquid orange now! Maybe I’m feeding him too much? idk?

I noticed BB Freedom puppy is 27% protein and the BB Freedom small breed is 30% protein. My yorkie’s poops on the 27% were perfect and the 30% were a little soft. I recently switched him to Orijen and that’s 38% and he had major diarrhea. So would higher protein make softer poops? And some dogs just can’t handle it? I think I’m going to go back to BB on 27%. But if that’s not the case, I want Orijen….it’s like the best it seems!
