Hi everyone. I had no idea chewy.com was bought by Petsmart until I saw the email I got today and from Pitluv answering my feedback here on Dog Food Advisor. I guess I’ll be buying from another retailer that sells Fromm and keep using chewy.com for other things. This is what the response was by Fromm:

    Loyal Fromm Customer,

Thank you for reaching out to Fromm Family Foods. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and interest in the current situation with Chewy.

Fromm Family Foods has a history of selling our products to independent pet retailers. We are very disappointed that Chewy.com has been purchased by PetSmartĀ® and for this reason, Chewy.com is no longer an authorized retailer of Fromm products.

If you would like to find a local, authorized retailer, please use the following link:
    https://www.frommfamily.com/retailers/usa/

In addition, we have other Premier online retailers that you can purchase from, such as:

    http://www.gofromm.com
    http://www.petflow.com
    http://www.hollywoodfeed.com
    http://www.dogfooddirect.com
For an up to date list of online retailers, please visit: https://www.frommfamily.com/retailers/internet

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and for that reason, weā€™ve created a special offer for you. Please visit http://www.frommfamily.com/offer to get a free bag, as a thank you from our family to yours.

Please do not hesitate to reach back out if you have any further questions, we are more than happy to help.

Thanks Inked Marie. I’ve done some reading about the CoQ10/ ubiquinol and many say it’s helped their dogs. Right now, I’m not even sure if it would work or at least help my dog in the long run. Hope your dog feels better

Thanks anon and everyone who replied. I used to give him fish oil liquid from Grizzly or Grizzly bear. I guess I’ll have to buy some more. Thanks.

Once in a while he will hack up some foamy stuff. Other then that, he is his usual active self going up and down the stairs like he was the road runner. When he was a puppy, he tried to trip me several times going down the stairs. I think he was trying to kill me. LOLOL. I know about the meds that are available. The vet told me about them a few months ago when I brought him in for his wellness exam and vaccines. He eats Fromm Weight Management dry dog food that has fish in it. It has omega 3 and 6 in it.

Thanks everyone for your advice. He has no IBS or IBD. He does lick his paws, but they are not red or raw. He does scratch, but not to an extent. The more I read the comments, the more it seems to make sense that it could be environmental allergies. As of right now, I’m almost done with the transition from WEF GRAIN FREE HEALTHY WEIGHT to FROMM whitefish formula. Malaseb shampoo is something I’ve seen and heard of. I’ll have to check it out. VeRUS is something I’ll check out also. I do want him to have some variety when it comes to his dog food which is why I want him eat at least 2 other types of limited protein sources, like bison and venison or beef. I will also look into California naturals and Wellness.

Chris, I hope whatever you find for your dog works out too. I’ve ordered from chewy.com and they have great prices on dog and cat foods, but if you find something affordable near you, go for it.

I might try UNDER THE SUN which is made by CANNIDAE. For now, I’m transitioning from NBFD TO WEF HEALTHY WEIGHT. Both foods are affordable for my wallet.

I have major concerns about your dog food formulas now the Purina has bought MERRICK. One of my concerns is that you may change the ingredients in your food because Purina asked you to which will result in low quality food for our dogs. Another concern is Purina buying Nerrick out right and changing all the ingredients making whole earth foods and MERRICK not good for cats and dogs to eat. I’m sure you are aware of all the lawsuits against Purina because of there food. Please tell me that MERRICK and WHOLE EARTH FOODS are going to remain the same and not end up like Purina dog foods. Again, these are some of my concerns.

Email sent. Let’s see what they say. I’ll let you all know. In the meantime, it’s back to hunting for a good quality food for my pooch. I’m still looking at WEF.

Ah yes, those wonderful commercials. They would sell there product to you on tv and tell you how great and nutritious there product is. Well, people are wiser now.

I had no idea Eukanuba made Pedigree. I thought Pedigree was made by Purina. C4D, since you fed Iams to your dog many years ago, would you happen to remember at least a couple of the ingredients of the ?Iams of back then? Did it contain the ingredients of today? For many years, I always thought PEDIGREE, PURINA DOG CHOW AND PUPPY CHOW, KIBBLES N BITS, ALPO, THAT DOG FOOD THAT LOOKED LIKE HAMBURGER MEAT, that came in a box and each box had multiple pouches of it. It looked like it was made out of play dough, I thought all those foods were top of the line because of the ingredients Like corn and by products. Nowadays, I know there not.

Finding a food your pet loves and a food that fits into your budget are important. I do the same.

If Purina sources from the USA, why are there dog and cat foods so bad? You’d think they would put a little more effort into making there products better, but, nope.

Have you looked into Natural Balance Fat Dogs? It has only 7.5 % fat, 10% fiber and 250 calories per cup. It does have more carbs though. I feed it to my dog and his is at a very good weight. 3 more things to add….protein is 26%, it has a prebiotic in it but no probiotics and with all that fiber, they are going to poop a lot.

With Zukes treat company, I wonder if there is a clause in the contract that states Purina is not allowed to change the ingredients ever. Hopefully there is. Just glad to hear that MERRICK still has control over there brands and not Purina.

I’m glad to hear she is doing great. Dogs give us so much unconditional love throughout our lives. I’d rather have dogs around then most humans.

Dori that is absolutely wonderful that your Maltese will be 16 years old in a few months. Many blessings to her and too you for taking care of her all those years.

My dog currently eats Natural Balance Fat Dogs because he was slightly overweight. The food has about 7 grams of fat per cup and has about 250 kcal per cup. He has lost weight, but I was wondering if I should switch him to Blue Buffalo weight management. I’ve read several comments about Blue Buffalo that it gave there dogs gas or they won’t buy it anymore because of loose stools. What is your take on blue buffalo weight management for small breeds? My dog is about 23-24 pounds Pom poodle mix. He is neutered and is 6 years old. At what age should I switch him to senior dog food? What is there recall history?

    Thanks

I did speak with my vet. They said either a human grade probiotic would be fine or one made for dogs would be fine. I am also giving him yogurt, the Greek type called FAGE with his food. I also give him a chewable probiotic from VETRI science, but the chewable probiotic only has about 286 million live cultures in it. I know that is not enough and I need to find a probiotic that has more then that.

Should the probiotics be in the hundreds of millions range or billions range?
How good are the probiotic chews for dogs? I’ve seen great reviews on the Vetei science brand, but they have 286 million CFU’s. I’m a bit skeptical about giving my dog human grade probiotics because some say no cause it’s made for humans while others say you can give it to them it’s the same thing. I’m confused.
