My dog is eating Acana and not having problems.
Tammy CMemberJust curious, where did you get the info that your dog needs 311 calories a day? I have a 15 lb. terrier and he only needs 306 calories per day. Maybe your dachsunds are very active? Also, if they are not gaining or losing weight that is your best indicator for how much to feed, usually.
Tammy CMemberI donāt think I would blame the food, unless you think it has gotten old. Maybe get a second opinion from another vet if the one who did the surgery isnāt helping.
December 25, 2017 at 2:05 pm in reply to: Dog diagnosed with IBD and who also suffered from pancreatitis #109132 Report AbuseTammy CMemberWhen I measure my dogs food I never use cup. Most good dog foods will say on the bag how many grams they consider a cup to be. I have been very pleased with always measuring my dogs’ food in grams on a kitchen scale. My vet is happy because our dogs are not overweight. Measure a cup of food on a scale numerous times, filling it to what you think is about the same level each time you fill the cup and you will see a significant difference in actual grams. Best of luck, finally found a food for my lab after 5 yrs of searching!

Tammy CMemberWhat kind of protein/fat numbers are you looking for? Grain free or not? My apologies if you already posted this info, I don’t see it. A lot of GSD’s need lower fat, does yours?
