Thank you much, crazy4cats for responding. Old vet, (since my pup wouldn’t even eat much, (a few kibbles) of the high quality dry foods, like Royal Canin, Nutrisource, and Wellness – too rich for her,) New Vet recommended I give her the Purina Pro-Plan SELECT Sensitive Stomach/SALMON. She has been eating this for awhile, however, the recently opened bag she has eaten from, the Vet determined was the cause of her issues. (Very Scarey, Vet thot renal failure). I will never feed her that anymore! All of the times she has transitioned to new dry food – did it very, very gradually. Am stymied, I don’t mind paying the price for a good quality dry food but don’t see any others for sensitive stomach. She loves boiled lean hamburg and rice but know she needs other nutrients. Am so very willing to make home made food, (am retired, so have the time) yet, having seen so many ‘recipes’, (many raw meat, which I won’t use) don’t even know where to begin. “Snowy” is such a cuddle bug, 1/2 Great Pyr, 1/2 St. Bernard. She is small for the mixed breed (both parents seen in person were small, too) weighing 80 lbs. Her only other med issue, (6 months ago) was a Seresto Collar making her very aggressive, which when removed, she was back to her loving self.

?????? Want to give her the best, but don’t know where to start. Thank you, crazy4cats!

Hi, hoping you can help – looking for sensitive stomach dry food. My 1 yr old puppy was on Purina Pro Plan Select for Sensitive Stomach and had a horrible experience with that causing bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Vet checked her creatinine levels in both blood, (high) and urine (SpGr) low …eating now boiled lean hamburg and rice, re-tested and both results normal. Vet determined it was the food..but need some good dry food to get her on. Any suggestions, help would be appreciated. Many Thanks.

To Rebeka R ..Yes, very scary, I know! I used a “Seresto” Flea/Tick collar on my 6 month old puppy – immediately over 3 days broke out into seizures. Once collar removed, seizure free. I am not trusting any of these flea/tick products. Living in New England we have plenty of deer ticks so was very concerned as to what I could use that was non-toxic to my dog. A dear vet friend turned me onto FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth. I rub this powder onto her fur throughout her body and NO FLEAS, NO TICKS, NO DEER Ticks. (pls avoid the eyes). MAKE SURE it is FOOD GRADE, or otherwise regular diatomaceous earth is very toxic/deadly to animals. I go right to the source and buy it from Wolf Creek Ranch on the web. I’ve found some ‘commercial’ pet stores, food/grain stores, on-line pet stores don’t have FOOD GRADE label on it and won’t take any chances. I do use Heartguard on my puppy with no side effects. Hope this helps!!! Woof-Woof and Happy Tails to you.

Yes, agreed – I don’t use any more of the Seresto Collar with severe sfx as well as any ‘topicals’. I use FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth, a natural tick (including deer tick) and flea prevention and rub into my dogs fur. Non-toxic and edible! WORKS GREAT!!!

theBCnut – Yes, I did let them know BUT they denied it at first. I did email the vet and let her know after seeing a Dog Behaviorist/Neurologist that the Seresto Collar was “the’ problem. Vet said she was going to contact Bayer but I don’t believe she did. Their office has called me once a month to see how Snowy is doing – it’s been almost 4 months now without the collar and NO ISSUES. They now ‘know’ whether they want to admit it or not …am so DONE with them, tis all I could do. Thanks for your asking.

Nancy C – Thank you for validating my experience with using a Seresto Collar. How did you get a refund from Bayer – did you purchase thru vet, pet store – did you have to submit documentation? I purchased it thru vet, (again Raving about it) with whom I’m no longer using. I called Bayer Corporate and they ‘blew me off’. Bayer told me that “by law they would report it to FDA” .. That was a lie. When I contacted FDA, they wrote me a very kind email back and said it has to be reported to EPA. Any suggestions as to how to get a refund? Won’t go back to old vet (she wanted to put my puppy down!!!) Of course, I REFUSED..

    Many Thanks, Melinda and Snowy

Oh, Victoria, I am so very sorry you and the poor dogs have been placed in this position. Is your local ASPCA ‘friendly’ ..can you ask them if they have a doc with no charge or little charge for those with limited income and can perhaps see the lab and recommend inexpensive and grain free food? Also, when my St. had hotspots vet recommended we use human benedryl tabs rolled into a bit of peanut butter. I know for our St. 120 lbs, we gave her one full tab. We were also given a spray to stop the itch, can’t remember the name. Hope this helps.

I, too, am very afraid of using topicals for fleas and ticks, especially with bad sdx from Seresto Collar. After much research, found FOOD GRADE and FOOD GRADE only stated on package: Diatomaceous Earth, which is also edible, (again make sure stated on package) – just rub into dogs and cats fur and will prevent fleas and even deer ticks …and will kill those already attached. Very easy to use – used a 1/2 cup of this powder on my large breed puppy rubbing it into coat, avoiding eyes. Just FYI. Hope this helps! Read package diligently as some DE has chemicals in it for other purposes.

Hello, All – has anybody used a Seresto flea and tick collar on their animals? At 6 months my large breed pup was per vet, given a Seresto collar to use. After 3 days of use and at 3 different times over a month, my pup would do a little dance in front of me, lunge at my face and ear trying to bite me and biting puncture wounds on my arms..Talking to my vet, she wanted to put my puppy down. I refused! Went to a specialist seeing if this was a behavioral or neurological issue, as my puppy always has been so very loving and gentle. It was deemed as Neurological. I removed the Seresto collar immediately and it’s been 3 months with NONE of these issues. I called Corporate, Bayer, as I had seen many posts regarding the same sfx. Bayer said they would report it to FDA..”had to as reported by Law” Corporate lied to me. I contacted FDA and they returned a very nice email and said, “Not covered by FDA, but EPA! I’ have tried to contact EPA with no luck. Any help or other comments would be appreciated! Thank you and Woof-Woof!
