OK – I joined this section to get to the good foods ! Editors choice – Whole EarthFarms Grain Free Recipe Beef and Lamb – I just read reviews on the main site here – that there is a horrendous BAD smell – and people returning the product due to the smell being so bad and dogs getting sick. Foreign objects found in the canned food and apple seeds and bones. OK back to the drawing board – 🙁

In all the years of dealing with dogs getting sprayed by skunk – this is the first time I called the Vet and she told me about the “recipe” – the 1 quart Hydrogen Peroxide, cup of baking soda and little Dish Soap. Mix it together right before using it. Put dog in tub and put it all over – but not on face. Rub it him and wait a few minutes. It has a chemical reaction and in our case — completely neutralized the skunk spray. She told me to put a little vanilla extract on a cloth and rub his face – not near eyes ! And we were good to go.
A week later he was itchy and I bathed him in a oatmeal dog shampoo from Petco – took care of that problem too. Maybe his skin got dried out from the hydrogen peroxide recipe. It worked like a miracle – glad I found out about it

I got a rescue dog and brought him to the Vet immediately. She wormed him and vaccinated him. He had diarrhea, over the next several weeks. I brought a stool sample and asked it to be tested. It is not the normal protocol – and my vet is very good and thorough. The stool sample was positive for coccydia. This is an organism – not a worm. It needs a specific drug to kill it. We gave him the med, and then re-tested his stool – and he is clear of it. Many rescue dogs, especially from rural areas and farm areas get this organism – it caused diarrhea and can be deadly in some cases. I hope you get this test done ASAP.
