I have switched my dogs from Orijen to Timberwolf Organics. They are doing great on it. I have read some complaints about their customer service but I have not experienced any problems. One draw back is they don’t sell it on Chewy. You have to buy it direct from their website unless you have a store near you that sells it. It is less expensive then the Orijen and I feel it is a great food for the price.

My 10 year old has been eating Orijen senior. I was happy with the food. Then we got a bag of Senior formula made in the USA. My dog is not picky so she ate it without issue, however, it gave her the nastiest smelling gas. It would clear the room and make me want to gag. Unbelievably bad. I had to switch her food.

My two younger dogs have done great on the Orijen Regional Red Canada formula. Anyway, I switched them all to Timberwolf Organics. I am very happy with the food. It is also a bit more economical which is always good. I have been happy with Orijen over the years and I hope that they work out whatever issues there are with the new US formulas.

I have not tried to Tundra yet but I am considering it.

I am feeding Regional Red with Primal Beef Nuggets as a topper to my Australian Shepards. My dogs are thriving, their stool is great (small and well formed) and their coats are shiny and beautiful. They lick their bowls clean and love the taste of the food. I realize it is expensive but worth is it to me because they do so well on it.

Thanks for the link! I have read that blog before and I like the scientific/no bs approach of the author. Maybe I will not get the Lyme vac anymore. One of my dogs had Lyme when I rescued her. She was skin and bones and in horrible condition. Because she had Lyme’s I gave her the vac and thought it was a good idea for my other 2 babies. Hmmm. Rethinking this now. 🙂

Thanks for the reply Anonymously. I did not know about the collar, I will look into it. I do get the lyme vaccination at the vet (not sure if that is good or not) each year. I will ask my vet about what to do for ticks.

Maybe it works for some but my 11 month old Australian Shepard had a seizure when I gave her Nexgard a couple months ago. I do give heartworm preventive for the warm months (not year round) here where I live. No more flea/tick pesticides for my dogs, I just don’t feel that it is worth the risk to their health.

About 2 months ago, I gave my 11 month old Australian Shepard Nexgard (correct dosage for weight) she had a major seizure and we ended up at the emergency vet. Previously, I have used Advantage and FrontLine. I am never giving my dogs any of these pesticides again. I am trying natural treatments this year with weekly flea baths and wipes. I am so torn on what to do, while I do not want an infestation of fleas, I can’t in good conscience give pesticides to my dogs anymore. I sure hope that I can keep the fleas/ticks under control.
