I’ve heard that it’s because of undigested proteins in the stool, I’ve heard that natural flavors flavor the poop. I don’t know if any, all, or none of the stories i’ve heard are true, but I do know that for some dogs it seems to be a habit that nothing will break and for others it seems to be nutrition related. My dedicated poop eater stopped cold turkey when we changed him to a food that didn’t have “natural flavors” and added digestive enzymes, so I can’t say which one worked. But I do know that he didn’t all of a sudden get over his habit, because when we babysit a friends dog, he will always eat their dogs poop. So try a better food, try digestive enzymes, try anything, and pray it works.
