Glad to hear you are finding things that work for him. There is a generic term white fish and there is a specific type whitefish. Whitefish is a white fish, but white fish are not necessarily whitefish. See? I never heard that sardines were a whitefish, they are considered oily fish and they are related to herring. There are white sardines, but they aren’t whitefish.
