You need a new vet. Basically, your vet is telling you that he would rather dose your dog with antibiotics and steroids for life than simply have you change foods a few times to work out what your dog is reacting to. Reactions to foods also cause other problems, like ear infections, systemic candida, IBS, IBD, colitis, and on and on. It is never better to just treat the symptoms of a health problem, than to eliminate the problem.
