Well, it doesn’t have meat by-products doesn’t have grain as the first ingredient–but it has corn in several forms, soybean meal, and no chelated minerals, so i personally wouldn’t touch it.
But for those who usually feed beneful or pedigree or something in that category, this is superior those by far… Not sure about that Heartland Farms one that is cheaper, but since it doesn’t say it’s “premium” and is a cheaper option than the Nature’s Menu, i’d bet it’s chock full of corn, wheat and soy–one most likely the majority ingredient. I’d also guess it has meat-by products.
