MemberHello, I am new to the forum and need some help. About 4 months ago we switched our two dogs from Purina Pro Plan to Blue Buffalo Wilderness. We followed the guidelines for switching their food. Our dogs were gassy before the switch and we though switching to a better brand might help. Unfortunately it has made the problem MUCH worse. They are large dogs and it is making our house stink something awful. Do y’all have any suggestions on a different brand or a different line in Blue Buffalo? We are at a loss. We have tried adding digestive enzymes as well without much luck.

MemberIt could be an intolerance to something in the food. What blend of Pro Plan were you feeding? What blend of BB are you now feeding? They very well could have some sensitive stomachs

MemberStinky gas can be caused by anarobic bacteria digesting the protein in the food, so a good way to handle it is to add a good multistrain probiotic to the food, to rebalance the probiotics in the gut, and a digestive enzyme to help the dog get everything out of the food until the right balance of probiotics can pick up some of the slack.
Switching from Purina to BB Wilderness might have been too big a change in nutrient levels for your dog to handle. Maybe try something like NutriSource. It’s pretty well tolerated and easy to switch to.
