Reply To: Help with new cat litter!
Hey C4C-
Ya our space is insanely limited, so I’m trying to do my best for her with what I have to work with. Her pee generally is very normal. Sometimes I’ll see smaller than average clumps, but nothing as bad as my cat who passed away this past christmas when he had a UTI at 2 years old. I always think back to my experience with him when trying to decide if she could have a UTI. I saw something on one of Dr. Becker’s videos called D-Mannose and she said it was excellent for clearing up urinary infections that could end your cat at the vet otherwise and on anti-biotics. She also mentioned that while anti-biotics are not terrible to use they can often cause recurring UTIs after the first one. I know I would get a prescription for anti-biotics from my vet if I brought her and I’d really like to avoid it. Have you heard of or used D-Mannose before?
I was using something called Rescue Remedy for Pets in her food. I got it at Whole Foods for my deceased cat before we made the 31 hour drive from CT to Louisiana. It was all natural and not a sedative and recommended to me by my old vet. Im not really sure how it worked because I went to work. I think Im going to give it to her again tomorrow morning since I have the next 2 days off and see how it works for her. It worked great for my other cat. He was calm and slept for a lot of our move.
