It would be great to substitute home-cooked food for canned, if you have the time to make it! If the toppers make up less than 20% of the diet, then you don’t have to worry about them being balanced. If they make up more than that, then you have to make sure it is a complete and balanced diet. Dogaware.com has some great recipes and resources for home-cooked food.
