If you want 6 chickens and you buy 6 chicks, you can guarantee 2 will die. If you want 6 chickens and you buy 9 chicks because you already know that 1 out of 3 dies, they will all live.

I always raise chicks in the house because they don’t thermoregulate at all, but once they are old enough to go outside, they are one of the easiest pets. And they are true omnivores. They love all the table scraps that I won’t feed the dogs. They love just about all fruits and veggies. They eat all manner of nasty bugs, including ticks!!!
