I have just received word from the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine that it has released an update of its official Pet Food Recall List. The list is complete through October 20, 2009.
The new publication contains all 973 pet food products recalled by the U.S. government since January 1, 2006… even those made famous by the ill-fated pet food recall of 2007.
The Internet-based report includes…
- Dog Food
- Cat Food
- Horse Food
Remember, the report is “historical” in nature. That is, it contains both old and new items. Although there are some recent recalls on the list, most products have already been removed from the market.
A Few List-Reading Tips
What may be of greater importance here would be scanning for “repeat offenders” — looking for companies that may have made it onto the list more than once.
The FDA maintains a list of all FDA pet food and treat recall news releases dating back to December 19, 2008.
