July 14 2023 — What the Raw is voluntarily recalling 184 containers of Single Dried Sardines packaged in shrink wrap due to potential Clostridium Botulinum contamination.
What caused the recall?
Neither the FDA nor What the Raw has issued a statement, however, you can see the Enforcement Report here.
It says that uneviscerated whole dried sardines used in raw pet food have been recalled to due potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that cause botulism.
There have been no confirmed illnesses linked to the ingestion of one of the products in question. No other What the Raw products are impacted by this recall.
What’s recalled?
In this case, the recalled product does not have labeling and is sold individually. A total of 184 containers have been recalled, containing the below lot numbers and expiration dates:

What to do?
If you have purchased a product with a lot code listed above, we recommend that you dispose of any impacted products immediately.
If your dog has consumed any of the affected products, monitor them for adverse symptoms such as an upset stomach, vomiting or diarrhea. Contact your vet if you witness any signs of illness in your dog and mention the information above during the consultation.
