Gold Star Distribution Recalls Multiple Products

December 26, 2025 — Gold Star Distribution has announced a voluntary recall of several FDA-regulated products, including pet foods, distributed in Minnesota, Indiana and North Dakota. The recall follows an FDA inspection that identified insanitary conditions at the facility, including evidence of rodent and avian contamination that could pose a risk to product safety.

Key Findings from FDA Inspection include

  • Insanitary facility conditions. The FDA inspection found rodent excreta, rodent urine and bird droppings in the areas where products were stored.
  • High contamination risk: The FDA determined these conditions posed a significant risk of contamination from filth and harmful microorganisms. Products stored under these conditions may be contaminated with bacteria, including Salmonella, which can cause serious illness.
  • Additional disease concerns: Rodents are known carriers of Leptospria

You can see a complete list of affected products here. At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products.

People handling contaminated pet food may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever or abdominal cramping. In rare cases, Salmonella can lead to more serious conditions, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms.
