May 6, 2026 — Albright’s Raw Pet Food of Fort Wayne, Indiana, announced a voluntary recall of one lot of its Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced due to potential contamination with Salmonella.
The potential contamination was identified after a routine sampling conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, during which product samples were tested for Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and Escherichia coli, with the lot identified above reported as positive for Salmonella species in 1 composite sample.
What products have been affected?
The affected products being recalled are sold as frozen 1 lb. bricks in clear vacuum packaging which are generally distributed in 30 lbs cases.

- No other lots or products are included in this recall.
- The level or load of the pathogen present has not been quantified
- Third-party confirmatory testing is still pending
The recalled Albright’s Raw Pet Food Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balance were distributed directly to consumers nationwide and to a small number of select retailers in:
- Massachusetts
- California
- South Carolina
- North Carolina
- Wisconsin
- New York
While some sales were made in physical stores, others were direct online sales.
Albright’s Raw says it is proceeding with this voluntary recall to ensure the highest level of safety and transparency.

About Salmonella
Pets infected with Salmonella may appear lethargic and may experience diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting, decreased appetite or abdominal pain. Some pets may be infected without showing symptoms and can spread the bacteria to other animals or humans.
People handling contaminated pet food may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever or abdominal cramping. In rare cases, Salmonella can lead to more serious conditions, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms. Anyone who develops symptoms after handling the product should contact a healthcare provider.
At the time of this announcement, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
What should you do if you have these foods?
Pet owners should stop feeding these products immediately and dispose of any remaining food in a sealed container where pets and wildlife cannot access it. Clean and disinfect all pet bowls, preparation surfaces, storage containers, bedding, floors, toys, and any area the food or pet may have contacted. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the food or cleaning contaminated areas.
If consumers have any product from the identified lots in their possession and desire a refund, they can submit a receipt and pictures of the product to [email protected] along with information on the place of purchase.
