My Frasier has had a Heart Murmur for a long time now. His lungs are clear, but he does cough off and on. He is taking Pimobendan for his heart, Benazepril for his blood pressure and Furisemide for the cough. The Furosemide is a Diuretic, so He ha to P more frequently. I also have him on a low salt diet. He, is just like yours, happy and eating and every so often chairing squirrels. He is being a dog. Did you say you were feeding her raw? Do you supplement vitamins and minerals? Send me an email and Iā€™ll send you some information. Maybe ask your vet about Pimobendan (this is the generic for Vetmendan)

Life Gold – Trusted Care for Cat Cancer

I donā€™t have kittyā€™s anymore….. but was looking on on line and found this web site. Lots of good reviews. Maybe this product will help you. I also read, and maybe you already know, that touching an infected kitty without washing you hands before touching a kitty that is not infected may pass the infection. I had not idea. Good luck with your kitty. I hope there is someone else out there that might be able even further. I had a dog with CHF he passed last year and his brother has a heart murmur that can turn into CHF. There is nothing we wouldnā€™t do for our furrbabies!

What brand did you pick up? Also, all packages have an expiration date on the bag.

Earthborn Holistics grain free large breed is what I started giving Douglas. This is my email… vmadair@gmail.com. Please contact me via email and I will give you all the information I found. Do you have a large breed dog? I have a large list of the companies that actually got back to me with the correct information. So frustrating when you ask them for something specifically and they give you something else. Looking forward to getting you the information you need!

    Thanks
    Vikki

Well, I wish you the best of luck! I must say, why would you even be on this forum if you do not read the reviews of the dog food you are giving written by who knows who? I myself believe the vets are in bed with these companies and that is why they promote them. Earthborn Holistic has no fillers and no recalls! Do your research just don’t take my word for it, or the vet for that matter! It is very clear what is good and not good based upon the ingredients.
Good luck to you and your furrbabies!

I just read an article from someone who flew to Texas and brought back two suitcases of dog food. Don’t know if it is legal? Through customs and all. Another person shipped the dog food to a PO box drove to pick it up and drove back. Again customs? Don’t know anything about that. Is he taking Vetmedin? or the generic? or any other medicine? Can the Petco special order for you? I wish you and your furrbaby lots of love and prayers! This is not an easy disease to deal with.

Can you purchase via shipping? My Douglas has CHF as well. The same moderate sodium restrictions. He needs to be between 45mg – 80mg sodium/100kcal. If you were to research the ingredients and look at the reviews from dog food advisor you will see there are better brands you can purchase for your little one. There is a list my cardioligist gave me with the sodium mg/100kcal broken down. Unfortunately there are several I would never use, however there are several good ones. I have this list if you are interested. Let me know.
Wellness if high on the list! Evo is another, Earthborn Holistic, one that I researched and got answers to and am currently feeding Doug.

The response by anon101 above is correct about the low sodium diets. % does not help in figuring out sodium mg/100kcal, at least when I compared the % list I received from a company to the list I received from the Cardiologist. The % looked ok, but was over what the recommendations were. My Lab has CHF and the Cardiologist recommended 45-80mg/100kcal of sodium. Doug is what they consider to be moderate sodium restriction.
