First of all, I wasn’t trying to be rude. All I was saying is that if someone doesn’t like a certain topic or whats being said in a certain topic that person can create their own or just sign off altogether. They don’t have to stay in that topic, they can change topics.

You people take things the wrong way. DON’T ASSUME THINGS, ask the person directly what they ment by that comment. Maybe you took it the wrong way.

Perhaps it is you who is rude!

After working at Petco for 3 years I did learn some secrets about many of these dog food brands. Sometimes they would clear the shelf of a product and not tell costumers why or they would make up excuses. Merrimack changes its formula every 5 years or so and has lots of silent recalls.

I’m not always rude, I just speak my mind. I try to be nice and even apologize but if no body reads those posts then I can’t help them. I’ve even tried to delete posts but that doesn’t work either. So if you have a problem with me please talk to me and not the world. Only scared people do that!

And besides dog food is a very touchy subject so no matter what there will always be conflict.

What is the big deal if someone who has paid to be a member of Editor’s Choice starts a topic that isn’t part of Editor’s Choice? They’ve paid to be a member and may need advice from a different group of people.

Merrick is a very questionable company and I agree with DieselJunki.

“With all these issues regarding Merrick as of late shouldnā€™t we re evaluate whether or not it should be on the Editorā€™s Choice list?”

You may want to try and stay away from red meat altogether. Duck, turkey, salmon, fish or maybe even chicken. My dog was on a chicken diet for awhile when I decided to change things up and go for a red meat diet. His skin turned red, itchy, bumpy and even bald in some spots. Now he’s on fish and he is much healthy.

    My dog was recently on Wellness Simple Salmon and Potato both dry and wet but what I found shocked me. There were pieces of bone in both the dry and wet food, some of the pieces were really big. In the past my dog has tried Wellness Complete Health Adult Whitefish and Sweet Potato dry and wet. As I went through the bag, after my dogs major vet bill, I found pieces of bone in there as well. I called the company and they denied the whole thing and told me to just switch flavors if my dog didn’t like it. No I don’t have any photographic evidence as of now but here is a video that I found;

She’s not on the Prescription Diet Dog Food now but she was on it when she was 2 years old because she had blood in her poop and digestion upsets. Her tummy makes lots of noise when she has eaten something bad.

After working at Petco for 3 years, I thought I knew everything that there is to know about dog food. I could sell the most expencive dog food in the store to a costumer with a very low income. People listened to me and believed everything that I said and the Petco that I worked at was proud of me.

and Iā€™m not a troll, Iā€™m just confused like the rest of the world. I ask people all the time ā€œhey what do you feed your dogā€ and they reply with something low quality. Iā€™ve saw a lady with a 21 year old Golden Retriever Mix and she had a beautiful coat. She had her dog on Pedigree her entire life so what am I supposed to think. My neighbor has 3 dogs on Taste of the Wild and they all look skinny, bad coats and just plain awful. Heā€™s had them on that their entire life and he even cooks for them. He goes to the store and buys real fruit and veggies and meat and cooks for them. So I am really confused, why does a low quality dog food give a beautiful look to on dog but a high quality dog food along with real fruit, veggies and meat give an awful appearance to another dog? How come with all the information that I’ve read and researched that I’m still confused and nothing is giving me an exact answer?

Iā€™m sorry for my posts last night.
Iā€™m a 26 year old married women who lives with her parents because I canā€™t afford to move out. My mom is anti-natural dog food and doesnā€™t believe that it can help with any of the dogs problems at all. I had 2 of my dogs die of cancer in the past and all of my dogs have skin issues. My cats are overweight, unhealthy and are very picky.
Iā€™ve gone and researched my butt off from books to the internet and even going to pet stores and reading the labels of each and every dog food out there. When it came to All Life Stages dog food I found lots of research and most of the answers came out to be both good and bad. My mom says to ā€œask the vetā€ he has all the answers but my vet is very old fashioned and when I asked him he said the ā€œall life stages dog food is bad for dogs and will end up killing dogs and even cats. So I got really scared and after loosing 2 dogs 2 cancer I wanted no part of it and would do my best to get people off All Life Stages dog food. Working at Petco for 3 years helped as well because you found out about the truth of these dog food companies and pet stores. They sell you anything that is on sale or has a deal with that company. While working there I would convince people to change their dogs all life stage dog food for something else and it worked. Please help me and tell me the truth of dog food.

in reply to: Why low ratings on senior dog foods? #43439 Report Abuse

Most “Senior” dog food is very low in protein and tends to be more of a weight-loss dog food then a dog food for senior dogs. If you read the AAFCO label on all “Senior” dog food, you’ll see that it is the same label as an “Adult” dog food. Your best bet would be to find either a really good “Adult” dog food or an “All-Life-Stages” dog food. Any of the brands listed on any of the lists on Editors Choice would make a good choice. If you have a concern with weight then Wellness CORE Reduced Fat is a fantastic dog food.

“Well, I feel like this is a very ignorant comment to make. Many people canā€™t afford dehydrated and/or raw. Just so you know, I feed my dog dehydrated and raw but I donā€™t condemn people for feeding kibble.”

I’m not condemning people for feeding kibble, I feed it myself, I’m condemning them for feeding All-Life-Stages dog kibble and not a specific life stage formula.
