I had the same problem with Merrick and other high protein dog foods a few months ago and have sense switched back to Science Diet
TJMemberI’m in the same boat, this past month our 1 yr old terrier has become super picky and will graze her food throughout the day now instead of eating it all at once. I’m not sure if it is an age thing or about the same time I started trying Merrick which she has turned up her nose too. Now going back to Science Diet she will eat it but super slow and will run around the house with a bites in her mouth. I think Im going to try a different brand like Fromm or Acana but it has been a frustrating experience trying to switch to healthier foods
TJMemberI was a little hesitant about the Ivermectin treatment at first but that killed the mites and then they went away completely after a couple months when her immune system matured
TJMemberHave you gone to the vet? Our puppy just recovered from mange a few months ago on her head and ears. She was given Ivermectin daily and a topical ointment.
TJMemberYes we are transitioning from Science Diet. Would the Merrick Classic dog food recipe be a good in-between food to use before moving to the grain free? It looked like it had 30% protein compared to SD 25% and Merrick Grain Free of 41%
TJMemberHey Cindy, I’m also transitioning from SD to Merrick Grain Free right now on week 2 and noticing the same problems.. We have a one yr old puppy and 3 yr old. Both are having pretty bad gas and 1 yr old has loose stools but has always been that way. I’ve tried canned pumpkin which works some of the time but isnt a permanent solution
TJMemberThats what I was afraid of as well, so would the 5 stars be too big of a jump in ingredients and overall richness which would upset their stomachs more. Has anyone experienced that? I was planning on buying a small bag of either one and slowly transitioning them over the course of a couple weeks off of SD completely
