My 15-year-old does pretty well tho she occasionally seems to want something bland. I give her Dave’s Delicate Dinners (chicken and rice), which is canned and not chunky. She almost always likes that. Dave’s Pet Foods also makes several varieties of 95% meat food, which I’m using to narrow ingredients while she is recovering from yeast dermatitis. Good luck!
susan hMemberFor what it’s worth, you may wish to view some of Dr. Karen Becker’s videos on “yeasty dogs.”
I know it’s a daunting problem. Good luck!May 29, 2015 at 6:08 pm in reply to: 15 year old small mixed breed has lost lots of weight + yeast-allergy dermatitis #73339 Report Abusesusan hMemberThank you for the reference to Dr. Becker’s videos. I watched it through several times and made copious notes. Looks like I have my work cut out for me, but I do feel so much better informed by her video. My, the things I should have known or been advised of a couple of years ago! Could have sidelined this situation before we ever got to this point! Thanks again for the reference. Will also be giving consideration to the other responses on this forum…and to Dr. Becker’s video on coconut oil.
susan hMemberI have a 14.5 year old small mixed girl, who has been having some difficulties with appetite and vomiting up food. Switched her from kibble to canned food, which helped, but many canned foods didn’t seem to settle with her. Dave’s delicate dinners — chicken and rice — seems to be the best so far. I haven’t tried Annamaet, but may. As she’s gotten older, keeping weight on her is a challenge, as well as dealing with skin problems. I do add probiotics to her food regularly.
Guess this is why there are so many different dog foods!!! -
