You get the Activa light & fit, its sugar & fat FREE plain flavour, not the berry flavoured ones..it will still have its sugar/protein proportions that naturally occurs in milk but it wont have added sugars..

Shasta 220, Ive read that yogurt doesnt work on dogs unless the yogurt has live bacteria cultures, like Activia Yogurt owned by Dannon. some people mix their probiotic with 1 teaspoon of yogurt…

You have to be careful with alot of probiotics, many cheap probiotics are unstable & lose their beneficial properties in a dogs stomach before the probiotic can reach the intestine… google this [Dog Probiotics warning & reveiws] this site gives you names of good probiotics that will work on ur dogs…I use Protexin that’s used for horses…

Holistic Select- Dry Senior Health Chicken Meal & Rice Fiber-3.50% Fat-10%.. Wellness-Wet Complete Health Senior formula Fat 3%..Im using the Eukanuba Vet Prescription Intestinal, I think its Iams Sensitive Stomach in America. Fat-10% & Fiber 1.75%, there’s NO by-Product in the Eukanuba.. Ive found the senior foods seem to be the lowest in Fat & fiber..

Saiq, where in Australia do you live? I live Newcastle NSW..Thats pretty good Oct 14, I bought the Holistic Select Duck meal from Pet Barn & use by was Jun 14, I think it depends where u live & how many people buy that certain brand..I bought Patch his Eukanuba Intestinal Vet prescription diet from vets & use by date is Feb 15, so it must be being used alot..Maybe its a good thing, we have strict laws, Australian Nutro Natural Choice which I found was really good, there’s no corn, wheat, articial colours flavours or preservatives. The Chicken is hormone free from Tamworth, Lamb is from New Zealand, Salmon is from Tasmania, all Australian made & grown, I’d prefer Australian made as I know our hygiene laws are very strict & have you noticed the dog foods made in Australia have never had any recalls that I know of…also there’s Black Hawk another good Austrailain Made & Owned natural food sold at Pet Stock…Go on the Black Hawks web page look at all their 4 diferent kibbles, pick one u think will suit ur dog & email them asking for a sample & they’ll send you out this beautiful little ingraved tin box with the sample kibble inside there’s about 3 cups in the sample, also Pet Barn & Pet Stock has samples of the Nutro Natural choice, if u look up Nutro on the reviews our ingredients are different, Australian Nutro is much better then the American Nutro..

Yes, my boy is another gulper, So I sit with him & just give him one kibble at a time or u can devide the cup & just put a few to 1/4 of cup in her bowl wait then put another 1/4 of kibble in the bowl etc, Ive also been adding some water too soften the kibble, then I get out any water then giving it to Patch that way its half digested for him so if he swollows a kibble not chewed, it will break up in his tummy easier, I hand feed it may take 5 mins but he doesnt have his farts, burps & stomach pain after eating, once you get into a routine its not that bad, also he’s learnt his tricks with his kibble, Id make him sit, I taught him to chew the kibble. I also taught him patients to wait, then slowly, & also not to bite my fingers off, he’s more gentle now with his food, like Tabitha said you’ll bond with her more..I have my cuppa while feeding him now..

Hah, he’s got the stumpy tail, they call them Stumpy tail cattle dogs, they are born with the stumpy tail, they often call Blue Cattle dogs ‘Bluey’ or ‘Blue” or ‘Red’ for the red ones, they were used to round up the cattle & drive the cattle all over Australia in the olden days, they are a hardy dog that live out under the stars as Queensland the top end is very hot in summer & Queenslands winter are still very warm, but I see what u mean about the Blue merle colouring, He’d do real well in Agility Training, You should start up ur own little Agility course & charge a few dollars..He’s a good looking boy..

If Loki is the dog lying down next to the dog with the blue collar sitting in ur photo from the post “What part of the world is everyone from” I can see Australian Blue Cattle dog in him, he has the white grey & black on his head & white & sholders & the white front legs a colour that is very Cattle dog, These dogs are used in Australia as farm dogs & very smart. We call them Blue Heelers …I cant add a photo of the Australian Cattle dog, but if you google Australian Cattle dog or Blue Heeler u’ll see what I mean…

My boy has I.B.D & I too have him on the Eukanuba Intestinal, I think in America its called Iams Sensitive stomach, Ive tried other foods thinking that they’re more better but in the end we always go back to the Eukanuba Intestinal, Im finding high fat% kibbles are no good also high protein % & high fiber% is a no no also. Have you looked at the Holistic Select kibbles there’s the Adult health Duck Meal fat is 13% fiber is only 3.90% its also a single protein Duck being the only protein, so if he cant handle say fish or Lamb etc u know that there’s only Duck in this Kibble, sometimes its a meat or potatoes that can cause their diarrhea, Im going to try the Senior Chicken meal & rice as the fat% is the same as his Eukanuba 10% & fiber is only 3.50%..even though my boy is only 5yrs old the only thing difference in the Senior is that the Glucosomane is higher, but the fat% & fiber% are the lowest in the Holistic Select range, so I dont think it will matter that he’s not a senior at the moment, Im pretty sure WellPet make Wellness, Holistic Select & Eagle Pack….there’s the Complete Health Senoir in the Wellness but the fiber% was too high for my dog its 5% .. Look at the Guaranteed Analysis on ur Iams Sensitive stomach bag & look what the Fat%, Protein% & fiber% is & try to find a better kibble that is nilly the same in Fat% Protein% & fiber%, thats what Ive been trying to do..then see if he can cope.. also when you start a new kibble do it sooo slow I take 2 weeks, when I get to the second week thats when things start to happen that are going to happen with Patches Diarrhea…

The Adaptil collar isn’t a collar where u attached a dogs lead, it just goes around their neck & lets off phermones, they look like the red flea collars but are grey, you attached ur lead to his harness not the Adaptil collar, in America you may have a different name for these calming collars… Ive never used one but they are big in Australia instead of people using drugs..You still do their normal training & use the Adaptil collars as well to help ur dog with their anxieties, fear & phobias…

Have ur seen or heard about those collars that have Pheromones, Google (Adaptil collars) I was thinking of getting one for Patch, when he travels in the car he doesnt do to well, also at the dog park, he gets very very very excited if off lead, then he starts to play very very rough if there’s a ball involved causing his excitment to turn to aggression sometimes, when I saw the behavourist at the vets she told me about pheromones..Ive never tried them there’s a spray, a fuser for the house that u plug into power point & lets out pheromones helps too relax them & the collars.. I found I just keep Patch on a lead & he’s a little angel & everyone says, Oh aren’t u a good little boy, I think to myself, yeh right they haven’t seen him when he’s a nut case, running & doing everything at once, Im reading Cesar Millans book at the moment called ‘Short Guide to a Happy Dog’ 98 Tips & Techniqiues, that I just borrowed from the library.. It’s a good read…Good-Luck

My boys gulping started last December, finally Im working out what the problem is, its stomach acid reflux coming into his throat.. he manly was having it early hours of the morning 1am-6am, Ive found kibbles high in fat made him worst, At 8.30pm I give him a dry biscuit a human biscuit then Ive been giving him Zantac (Ranitidine) similar to Pepcid (Famotidine)…at 9pm, I wake him up & give him 1 third of a Zantac, this has helped so much.. I read ur post Bunny how ur giving Sulcrate (Carafate) this must be giving on an empty stomach 1 hour before foods as it coats the stomach & if there’s food in their stomach it will just coat the food, ur better off giving Pepcid or Zantac as this helps settle their acid after they have eaten, the meals before bed make sure they are very low in fats as fats cause stomach acid, I also try to have my dog sleeping with his head higher then his bottom, so he’s sleeping like a human with a small pillow under the head, this way the acid can’t wash into their mouths causing the burning in their throats, everything that u’d do for a human with GERDs, I do for my Patch… Its funny I suffer from GERDs & now Ive rescued a dog with the Gerds….

I thought that was high in Fat when I coverted it, so I’ve been cooking just in case, but most of the wet foods are 6-9% in fat….so 3% fat in the Wellness senior is the best I’ve found..

Wellness Complete Health-Senoir recipe Wet, its only 3% fat & 7% Protein, or there’s Nutro Natural Choice-Lite Lamb & rice, Fat-4% Protein-5%.. If you look at most of the senior foods they are normally low Fat & Protein, I have been boiling chicken breast, pumkin & sweet potatoes & freezing little meals, this seems to have helped my boys Pancreatitis, Ive found that when he has his Dry kibble he gets his pain..thats probably why ur Silky doesnt like the dry foods..

Something that is low in fat, Ive been looking & found Wellness Complete health Senior wet to have the lowest fat 4% or the Complete health senior dry 10% fat or Nutro Lite kibble 9% fat or wet 4% fat, also Holistic Select senior health Chicken Meal & rice, 10% fat, Vet told me keep the fat under 9% its a bit hard when alot of the kibbles are 14%-20% fat, so I found the Senior ones are lower in fat, the Weight Management kibbles are low in fat BUT the fiber is really high in some up to 10% fiber too high when they have stomach problems I think…Ive been cooking boiled chicken Pumkin & sweet potato & just giving that for breakfast & the kibble of a night I have my boy on the vet prescription diet Eukanuba Intestinal 10% fat, I think in America you have the Iams vet diets…but the ingredients have corn but the corn must help something cause his poos are excellent..

Oh OK, he’ll be 6 in November, I think 7 yrs old is the start to be a senior dog, as you’ll see 1-6yrs for aldult foods then 7+ for senior foods, Also the Ash in kibbles, what should it be around.. I see 7.5% 9.5% 11% should it be lower or higher & what does Ash do,

My boy has IBD, since I got him over 1 yr ago, the vets first put him on a hypoallergenic kibble Royal Canin + Metronidzole, this kibble was too hard & didnt digest he’d vomit it up 7 hours later still all formed, the only food so far that has helped him do excellent poos since August 2013 is Eukanuba ‘Intestinal’ Vet Prescrition Diet, its breaks up easliy, as its a low residue kibble, so its good on his tummy & the diarrhea stopped within 1-2 days of being on the Intestinal & he’s off the Metronidzole…there’s an Intestinal Plus also which has more fiber this wasnt good for my dog the Intestinal has only 1.75% crude fiber, where the Intestinal Plus has 4% crude fiber.. Ive also started cooking him boiled chicken breast with pumkin & some sweet potatos for breakfast only, I cook a weeks worth & freeze little meals, he loves it & his poos are a bit softer as you can see the brown poo which is nice & firm from the Intestinal kibble, then you see bright orange softer poop, from the chicken &pumkin, maybe I’ll put less pumkin in, but this is the only thing so far that has worked, Oh, he has a probiotic in the morning 1 heap teaspoon with 10ml water he loves it, I dont know why it doesnt smell like anything, maybe he knows it has helped him.. Ive tried a few different kibbles & he’s ended back on the Metronidzole, I always come back to the Eukanuba Intestinal…

No, Vet said I need a kibble that is 10% or under in fat, he said he likes 8% fat, for Pancreatitis, He showed me the Hills & Royal Canin vet diets & I dont like all the crap in them, its bad enough he’s on the Vet Diet Eukanuba Intestinal, but the Eukanuba seems a bit better then Hills & R/C so Ive been looking at all the kibbles & the weight loss kibbles are low in fat BUT the fiber is always high 7-10% so now Im looking at senior kibbles as the fat is normally low but Ive found that the Glucosamine is high in the Holistic Select its 750mg/kg. Im just woundering will it matter him being only 5 yrs old & having alot of Glucosamine…

My Rescue dog has skin allergies, I.B.D Colitis & now the new vet has said Pancreatitis & I.B.D, When I spoke to this new vet the other week, I said, I rescued Patch over 1 yr ago & have had nothing but problems with his skin, swollen feet, bowels & his stomach, I said the people who owned him before must of not cared for him properly to have all these health problems, they must of not feed him properly or gave him crap food & the vet said, No, he would of started to have his Irriatble bowel when he would of been around 1yr old, he would of inherited the skin allergies & bowel problems, I said, I thought it would of been from his past, then vet sad No, dogs illnesses start to come out around 1yr old..I know Labs are known to have stomach problems & weight problems, I dont think desexing would of contributed, it just happened probably, Ive also been asking questions, I think we want a normal dog & we look for answers & Im finding there’s no answers, we just have special dogs that are very very lucky to have found us..Good-Luck

Have you looked into Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth, Google S.I.B.O, in dogs then put him on the SIBO diets, if you feel he has most of the symtoms…My boy is on the Vet Prescription diet Eukanuba “Intestinal” Protein 23% Fat-10% crude fiber 1.75% Beet Pulp-3.3% it’s the only kibble that seems to work for him, His Sloppy poos are excellent now, his skin cleared up, ears also cleared up but come back sometimes after been on alot of bush walking, so I’d say he has allergies to pollen or grasses something in the enviorment..

He’s spoilt, LOL, when some dogs get a variety they become very picky, why eat yukky dog foods when mum can make me nice boiled chicken or salmon ur the boss not him, just put what u want him to eat in his bowl & walk away dont pick it up then give another food or add another food to the food that he wont eat, leave it then after 20mins put in fridge, if he seems hungry heat in micro wave & give him the same food that he turned down before, when he’s hungry he’ll eat it…or cook & freeze all his meals now that he’s tasted chicken & salmon he knows that there’s better foods then tin or kibble..he has u wraped around his little paw, maybe some tough love may help especially that he’s still a pup, it wont get any better, maybe talk to a dog behavourist they may be able to give you some ideas before he gets older & more picky with certain foods..

Have you tried the elimination diet where he just eat 1 food for 1 month like kangaroo or chicken or fish Etc then if that meat seems ok then after 1 month add something new here’s a diet for yeasty itchy skin
    1cup ground beef human
1/4 cup beef liver or kidney
    2 eggs scrambled or boiled
1/2 cup steamed or boiled broccoli
1/2 cup cooked yellow crookneck squash
    1/2 cup yogurt
serve meat cooked or raw combined with the cooked vegetables eggs & yogurt, If serving the meat cooked wait for it to cool before stirring in the yogurt..
intstead of the beef mince u can use chicken mince, pork mince or a tin of salmon or mackerel drained..
This was from this book called ‘Raw & Natural Nutrition for dogs’ The Definitive Guide to Homemade Meals by Lew Olson PhD… an excellent read explaining all health problems & what to feed dogs, there was more meals for skin problems, I just borrowed it from my Library…its raw & cooked Healthy meals, also a good shampoo is needed like Oatmeal shampoos..

The elimination diet is best, like Paddy said, home cooking then freeze meals… also what are you bathing him in, I found Dermcare Malaseb Medicated shampoo to be the best but its a Australian made shampoo, its excellent, I dont know if you can get the Malasab where u live I suppose u’d get it on the net, it removes scale, degrease the skin and kills cutaneous micro-organisms which can cause dermatitis..I bath my boy every 5 day as soon as I see him start to itch, also I have creams I put on him so the itch doesnt get out of control…u need to treat the inside & the outside, alot of people reconmend fish sardines etc have u tried a fish diet & nothing else.. Ive noticed when my boy eats a Jazz biscuit within 10-20 mins one of his paws swells up all red & he licks & licks it, I put a cold washer around it, so he must be allergic to wheat & whatever is in Jazz biscuits.. its hard but u’ll start to see & find out what makes his itch itcher..

I forgot to write the food Im going to try, Ive looked & looked for a low fat & low fiber & found this one ‘Holistic Select Senior Health’ Chicken Meal & Rice the fat is only -10% the fiber-3.50% & the protein-26% see my boy isnt use to a high protein being on the Eukanuba Intestinal it’s only 23% so going to 26% I’ll see if he can handle it slowing plus Ive bought the Holistic Select Duck Meal before & its not a hard kibble it digest easily.. I always boil the jug, I put boiling water in half a glass & drop a kibble in for 40sec then pull out put kibble inbetween 2 spoons & try to crush it, if it crushes easily I know it will be good for my boy to digest if I have to really apply pressure to crush a kibble I take the bag of kibble back to Pet Barn, its too hard for my dog.. Before I knew a little about kibbles my dog was on the R/C Hypoallergenic & Sensitivity control they were hard kibbles thats when my poor dog started having all his stomach problems & vomiting now the vet say Pancreatitis..The only thing Im worried about this Kibble is for dogs over 7 yrs old, my boy is only 5yrs old 6 in November & it has 750mg/kg Glucosamine… I dont know if that matters the Duck Meal & other Flavours Lamb etc the Glucosamine is 340mg/kg..

Hi Shasta, Ur drawing is mad so is ur cow what’s his name & how old is he, I love cows eyes they are so beautiful, have you ever drawn ur animals… My hobbies were gardening & doing Staffy rescue but since Ive rescued Patch he takes up all my time trying to find out how to fix his health problems & make him better, thats how I found this site, I love our walks everyday, trying to find a new place to go.. it looks like u live in the country, I love the country but I live on the East coast of Australia & there’s not much bush near the water, where I live, so we sometimes drive 20mins to the country, Patch loves bush walking probably cause he was from the country.. When I first got him I took him to the dog beach down the road he spun out watching all these dogs jumping in the ocean chasing a stick, he had never seen the ocean before, now he loves it, I have to keep him on a lead as I cant catch when we have to go home..

Im going thru this at the moment with my boy, looking for a good food for Pancreatitis, my vet told me just give him boiled chicken breast for 1 month, just chicken doesnt seem to fill my boy up & Im still giving him his Eukanuba Intestinal kibble for his dinner but then Patch has his pain after the kibble, May I ask what are Paltry Proteins??? as Im trying to learn everything on Dog Pancreatitis.. Ive read low fat, low fiber & low protein then Ive read a low fat & high protein diet…The vet showed me the R/C Low Fat & the Hills Z/D Ultra, does the R/C Low Fat Kibble break up easy or is it a real hard kibble, Ive tried the R/C Low Fat tins when my boy was real ill last yr, but his poos were too sloppy.

Thank-you Melissa & Aimee, Patch had a blood test 3 weeks after a flare up, I asked for one, He was on the Metronidzole last December for 2weeks, this stopped the fermenting smell that was coming out of his mouth & stopped the sloppy poos, now his mouth smells normal again, vet gave me a script if I run out.. I cant get the R/C Venison/Potato here is Australia I tried & rung R/C up when he was first ill, we just have the Low Fat, Sensitivity Control, or the Hypoallergengic..Ive tried the Hypoallergenic & the Sensitivity Control & they made him worst. He’s good at the moment he’s playing running, but all he has eaten is his toast for breaky, Ive just boiled a chicken breast, its cooling maybe thats why he’s running around he knows he’s having chicken, Ive tried this before boiled chicken, I’ll try it again & see how he goes this time, I need a kibble with No Fish Oil, no Flaxseed, nothing with oils, I dont think there are any, Oh, when I looked in the supermakets the real cheap kibbles have no fish oil or flax seed etc, maybe that mite work.. I did find a low fat 8% called ‘Opitmum’ invented by a vet here in Australia but it has Chicken By-Products, everytime I read the ingredients I put it back…But being a rescue dog I’d say he was feed a real crap diet, cheap diet… Ive never given him the supermarket kibbles, he mite do better on mostly grains he does good on toast..just gave him his chicken so far no pain yet or licking… I never gave him his Zantac either..How much chicken do I feed a 17kilo dog, I dont want him losing weight.

Ive read that dogs can digest animals fats, chicken fat etc, & they dont digest oils as well sunflower, canola, vegetable etc. this is saying the opposite that dogs digest vegetable & fish oils better then animal fats, which one is it, are animals fats better or are oils better for digestion when in a kibble, I’ve read when its a animal fat it must say the animal, chicken fat etc but not just say animal fat as u dont know what animal its from & could be diseased etc.. I thought chicken fat etc would be better then canola, sunflower oils etc..
Did anyone read about liver, it can become toxic to the body, my boy cant eat liver treats as he gets diarrhea…

Dander is doggy Dandruff, dry flaky skin, he needs more omega 3 in his diet, also instead of just giving his 1 sardine a week, give him 1 sardine a day, Oatmeal shampoo for dogs is best for dandruff, ur local pet store would sell it, when u shower him once a week shampoo & conditioner with the oatmeal shampoo & conditioner that way ur moisturizing his skin. The shampoo + condictioner ur using is probably drying out his skin..also brush him once a day this promotes oil production. he needs a good diet with vitamins & minerals including fatty acids which will help moisturize the skin & stop the flaking…

Change the food, or change the flavour with a few different ingredients & see if it still happening, there’s an ingredient thats either giving her stomach acid or making her feel un-well, something that wasnt in the Merrick, this has just happened with my boy, the poos a great but after eating he wants his grass, so I looked at the ingredients again & realized it has fish oil & rosemary extract in the kibble, so its either the fish oil or the Rosemary, I keep smelling fish on his breath after he’d burp.. I google side effects to fish oil & rosemary in dog & it said both can give acid reflux, direhhea etc, now I have look for a new kibble again, the thing is you’d think they wouldnt eat it after they feel off…

Hi Andrew, I too have a staffy with Cannie Atopy Demtosis, first as soon as u see her start to scratch stop her, as soon as Patch goes to scratch I say ‘no scratch’ & go & get his cream & apply where’s itchy also I bath him every 5 days in Malasab medicated shampoo, this is excellent, my boy also gets the yeast itchy ears when he has certin tin foods, ur dog needs a diet the she has never tried before eg..duck, kangaroo, venision, etc they say a hydrolized kibble.. Royal canin has the Hypoallergenic or Sensitive Control, The Hypoallergenic was OK with Patches itch BUT not with his red swollen paws that he’d get after some walks, In the end my boy was put on Eukanuba Intestinal this has cleared his skin cleared his paws as long as its not raining & he doesnt get his feet too wet, no more red swollen feet, but its a vet prescription & yes it has corn, but it seems to work for Patch.. People believe in the raw diet but my boy also has irritable bowel as well & vet said no to the raw as there’s to much bacteria…U’ll have to just keep trying different foods & start looking at the ingredients, & remembering what u’ve tried.. I write it all down.. Patch has a diary.. start to look for kibbles that dont have certain ingredients thats what Ive been doing, Like the carbs.. I was told potatoes are a NO NO. Most of these natural diets have the Patotes, Ive just Introduce the Nutro Natural Choice I think in America its the LID, Im in Australia, this so far has been Good, it has grounded rice, no potatoes or corn Poos are excellent he hasnt started the itching YET & has ears are good but its only been 2 weeks & Im still giving some of the Eukanuba Intestinal kibble with the Nutro, Eukanuba has the Dermatosis FP have you ever tried that I tried it but my boy got the runs from it cause of his IBD…. she may not have a real bad food allergy, it may be more the Pollens & grasses that affect her skin, Google ‘Cannie Atopy’ it will give you the 5 main things that cause skin allergies…but what may work for my dog wont work for ur girl… OH have u tried Antihistamine Tablets that humans take for allergies..My vet gave me a list that I can buy from my chemist when Patch gets the swollen lumps on his body again but so far he hasnt gotten them back this yr.. U’d be into spring now the worst time..Good Luck

Its just that everytime Ive wormed my dog he gets diarrhea thru the night & is not well the next day, cause we walk everywhere & go to dogs parks vets say I should worm him every 3 months but this time the vet said that we will just do a float test instead, its been 5 month now & I havn’t wormed him, there’s no worms in his poo but Ive read that I think its the hook or whip worm u cant see them unless under a micro scope..The vet said that Milbemax is a milder wormer we’ll try that one next time..

Not eaten same food after a couple of days is telling me he’s feeling off, Has he had a Endoscope down his throat to look at his stomach.. Ive had alot of problems with my 5 yr old rescued Staffy, vets thinking its Pancreastis then stomach ulcers then stomach bacteria then Small intestine overgrowth bacteria, He was put on Metronidazole for 2 weeks, this helped I think as he wasnt waking up thru the night while taking this med, my boy has pain on his right side under his rib cage he’ll have this for 2-3 days then he’s fine again, did blood test but they came back normal but the test was done when he was feeling Ok & eating, so next time I have to do blood test when he has his pain, some mornings has to eat his grass some mornings vomites yellow bile, then the vet wanted to open him up I said NO, In February after being up half the nite with Patch in pain uncomfortable couldnt sleep pain right side, I booked him for a Ultra Scan but they couldnt do the Ultra Scan for 4 days, the day before Ultra Scan was due he was all better, playing, so I cancelled the Ultra Scan just in case it come back normal like the blood test he had done last September, I gave him a third of a Zantac 1 hour before food every 12 hours there’s been no more vomiting 3 times a week, he’s being naughty, so he’s feeling good again but last Monday he had his pain under the rib cage again & was uncomfortable when sleeping it lasted 3 days again, now he’s good again, I have him on a low protein kibble 22% Fat-10% fiber-1.70% Eukanuba Intestinal, its easier to digest less work on their stomach, Im in the middle of changing his kibble to another Limited Ingredient kibble with low protein again, Patch also has trouble holding his weight.
I’d say after ur dog has eaten he’s having his pain so then he’s not interested in that food again as its made him unwell…Have you tried wet instead, I would but my boy gets diarrhea, next time he refuses to eat lay him on his left side so u can feel his right side & have him real relaxed then start pushing around & under his right rib cage where it starts to go around & see if he flinches, I googled a dogs anatomy to see whats there & its their Gall Bladder, Pancreas & Stomach is towards their spine more… there was something else Ive forgotten I think it was their sspleen…If only they could talk…

Yes, I just drove 15mins to a Pet Barn that has Air Con this morning as the Pet Barn just up the rd from my place is a big hot tin warehouse & it gets so hot there, I often think about all the dog & cat food in the heat, they even leave pallets of kibble in the sun all day that wouldn’t be good, It says on some bags must be store under 26 degrees..I never was a stress head about my dogs food until I adopted a sick dog with tummy issues…

I see, I didnt realise that after opening a bag of kibble the fats starts to oxidize from the air, I normally buy the 12-13kilo bag of kibble as it gets cheaper, I fill 2 containers for the kitchen 1 container holds 12 cups of kibble the other air tight container holds 40 cups kibble then I seal the bag & put in one of those real big plastic air tight containers, u find in junk shops & keep in a cool A/C room. ..I just thought the use by date said say Jan 2015 so I can take my time with that kibble, I have to buy a new bag today & I mite get the 3 kilo bag instead of the 7 kilo bag if it is fresher. It will take me 15 days to use a 3kilo bag as there’s 12 cups to a kilo, Thanx

To KATHY M, My beautiful Angie was a white Boxer, she had Mast Cell Tumors, In 2009 I noticed my boxer wasnt herself, didnt really want to go for her walks, always sleeping & tired she started vomiting sometimes of a morning, she just wasnt Angie so I took her to the RSPCA vet as that was her vet as I had bought her from them at 2 yrs old, 2002, I love boxers, she was like a human so gentle & never hurt any wild life, she’d come inside crying to tell me come outside & see this rat that was dying a neighbours cat didnt kill properly, she was my soul mate, anyway when I took her to the vets the vet said has she eaten this morning, I said no, she doesnt eat breakfast, then the vet said I want to operate & cut these tumors off they should of been done 1 yr ago when you first seen them, But I did go to a vet I told her the vet up the rd from my place, when I first seen 1 on the back of her leg, the stupid vet said, oh thats nothing its just an old ladys wort, she’ll be fine, she was 8 yrs old then, I let the RSPCA vet cut out any lumps that she found, when I saw Angie the next day she looked like a patched quilt, with stitches everywhere, the results came back high grade 2 cancer, back in 2009 I didnt have the internet or computer back then so I tried getting any info on mast cell tumors.. Id go to the library, I tried everthing.. after being cut open & all lumps removed about 5 months later more lumps popped up on her tummy, so they operated again & some of her nipples were removed, she seemed to get better but 1 yr later she went down hill again, black poos, vomiting blood then the vet thought stomach ulcers so I was refered to another vets that had the Endoscope & ultra Scan to look down her throat & Ultra scan her spleen & other organs the test come back all good no ulcers nothing, she was put on a steriod & Metronidole for her diarrhea the meds made her feel sick & Science diet Z/D this food seemed to make her worst at nites she’d cry 2am, Id cook her boiled chicken breast & rice she loved this but the new vet said she needs a proper diet thats how she ended up on the hill Z/D.. In the end I had her put down at home. it was as if she told me, I woke up one morning & I just knew today was the day…. I regrete going to the RSPCA vets as I just put her thru more pain having operations & tests. All I can advise is find a food that agrees with Daisy & makes her feel good, doesnt matter if its not a grain free or one of the supermaket foods, if something agrees with her, keep her on it.. all these vet prescription diets are crap.. I know this now, I just wish I knew it back in 2009 for my Angie. Just make Daisy as happy as you can, thats all that matters, that she feels good & has no pain & remember they feel if ur sad, so put on ur happy face & be happy even if u feel like crap, sometimes not have enough money for vets is a blessing in disguise….Good-Luck Kathy with Daisy…

I found my boy needs less fiber not more..He’s on the Eukanuba Intestinal vet prescription diet its 1.75% fiber.. it also has FOS…Eukanuba does make a Sensitive Digestion thats sold at pet shops its similar to the Intestinal, the fiber is 1.60%, but this food does have corn, his poos are perfect & only 2 a day, it’s the only kibble that has worked so far.. Im about to try Nutro Natural choice Chicken & Rice but the Australian made Nutro not Americian.. they have one for the Sensitive tummys but the fiber is 3.5%

I’d go vet & have a skin scrap to see that its not mites & see what type of skin problem it is, so it can be treated.. have you try washing Abby in Malaseb shampoo for skin problems, It could be seasonal from the new enviroment, the other 2 dogs may have just cleared up after you have bathed them or did something but Abby is a different breed of dog so she may need something more like creams to help clear her skin,

My boy has I.B.D & Colitis, His vet has told me over & over, keep Patch on the same food do not change it, at first I thought WHAT & i’d give Patch something different & it wouldnt happen straight away maybe 1 week later, the vet explained if their bowel is sensitive, foods will irritate the bowel linning causeing the diarrhea, I noticed my boy cant have cooked rice but if its grounded in a kibble he can eat that kibble, I have to keep the fiber down & I noticed he cant have high protein kibbles, Just start reading which kibble seems to be good & doesnt upset their tummys, see what the protein fat & fiber % was & stick with around that % & just stick with the same flavour & brand for 3-4 months then maybe try a different flavour in the same brand that there doing well on..my vet told me 1 yr I have to keep my boy on the Eukanuba Intestinal then I can very slowly try adding a new food, some dogs just dont do well when their feed gets changed..also put them on a Probiotic this has really helped my boy but make sure u get a good one as there’s a few dodgy ones getting around that do nothing. I use Protexin & it must be kept in the fridge..
