This is an older thread but Abady’s granular foods are the best ‘dry’ foods you can buy. 9/10 stores that carry these foods, the staff and owners of the store use them.

They are incredibly simple foods and not really processed at all except for mixing.

They just need to be mixed every so often and its best to keep them in a cool location.

Very few stores carry the large boxes, they need to be ordered but in my area if you call on a Monday, the food is delivered by an Abady truck by Wednesday. The food is generally only a week old when you get it.

You will notice in two weeks. Tiny stools, better coat and cleaner teeth. You will also notice how comfortable the dogs are eating the food and after they finish. The mass they eat is much less and the food is granular so it digests much more efficiently. There is no plant fiber in the food. The stools look like coyote of fox scat.

It is also the only company that will work with your vet and actually review blood work if needed. There is a Vet on staff at the company. I highly recommend the Classic version. I haven’t done the calculation but I suspect the calories from carbs is 10-12%, and just white rice.

Coconut oil at a certain level is a great laxative. It is not digested by pancreatic enzymes so much of the fat simply passes through the GI. That is why your dog had soft stools.

Don’t supplement any fat because you will just imbalance the Omegas. Too much Omega 3 can cause skin crud and can also deplete Vitamin E, even to a dangerous level. Despite what you read, Omega 6 is the best fat for coat quality anyway not Omega 3’s.

Just feed Dr. Tim’s or Abady and you don’t have to worry.

Food has no impact on bloat risk, none, nothing, not ever…soaking food will do nothing. It is just an amateurs myth.

OP, Stop giving your dog coconut oil, it has no benefit and can easily cause loose stools because it isn’t digested in the lower GI.

Don’t supplement a growing puppy with anything, nothing….

So what does soaking food in water prove? Nothing…..why do you even mention it.

How many professionals use Pro Plan??? How about nearly everyone….have you cared to look?

Try Pro Plan Sport and don’t get bullied by the so-called pet food experts into using a bunch of glamour foods. It is unusual to find undigested kibble but puppies have very immature and inefficient digestive systems.

I would speak to your vet about this. It has nothing to do with eating fast.

Virtually all dry food sold in the US is the same quality, with the same level of nutrition.

Marketing is the only thing that distinguishes dry food.

Annamaet is great food but the on-line prices are very high making it a bad value. You have a very large breed dog known for a big appetite. Locally here in the east those foods are much cheaper. $85 for a 30lb bag of food is crazy.

As for TOTW puppy, the foods are all peas and pea protein.

Personally, Dr. Tim’s Kinesis for six months then Dr. Tim’s Pursuit after that. Chewy.com ships out of Nevada so you will get your food very fast. Dr. Tim’s sled racing teams always win. Great food, maybe the best kibble being sold today.

Abady you will have to call to see the best place to get it If there are no stores carrying the food locally you can buy direct from them.

Abady is a dry food but not a kibble. It goes through very little processing and it is like coarse sand in texture. It has been on the market for about 45 years. It is superb food. In our area it is the choice of the store owner and staff for their own pets.

I don’t think there is any reason to mix foods. In terms of foods I would pick either Dr. Tim’s Kinesis, Annamaet Extra or Abady Granular.

It seems you are drinking the Grain Free Kool-Aid. TOTW is not appropriate for large breed puppies and the TOTW puppy foods are garbage.

If you have to buy Annamaet on-line due to local availability, then Dr. Tim’s is much better. It even comes in 44lb bags from Chewy.com and at a great price with free shipping and no sales tax. Annamaet is a rip-off online. Unless you live in the Northeast, Abady has to be purchased on-line.
