Depending on the size of your dog, rule of thumb with Home Cooked diet is 1 to 1/2 tsp of either Rapeseed oil/ Canola oil per serving for EFA’s you can also use walnut oil or coconut oil as alternatives. If you would like any information on Home Cooking for your dog I’m a Canine Chef.
Sorry I may have missed the thread, are you home cooking your dogs food? Or is he on a commercial diet? Just wondered why you wanted a supplement?
Coconut oil is fantastic & cholesterol free, it has wonderful properties but I find it very expensive. I recommend 1tsp of Rapeseed/Canola oil per serving for EFA’s or Walnut oil 1/2 tsp of the walnut (depending on how large your dog is).
There has recently just been a programme aired in the UK called the truth about your dogs
food! Perhaps you could get him to watch the programme… It might get him thinking.
I’ve just written an article about this very subject on my FB page.Queeniechi Says Cook. Here’s the link if you want to see the what dogs can & can not eat.http://bit.ly/DOGGYDINDINS
