We just tried the ground Venison from Hare Today and one of my dogs that would never touch the Ground Rabbit , loves the Venison, she ate it so fast and then looked up at me wanting more. I have the beef and tripe mixture but have not tried it yet. Tracy is awesome to deal with and I love her ground mixes.

Yes the pooping is from the meal before that being pushed out. Nice morning topic

My 4 always poop right after a meal. Honestly CC doesn’t have enough protein for my crew. After on it for 1 week I noticed more chewing on their feet and legs and shedding got worse. No it is not detox because we do half Raw now and half kibble. So over all I wasn’t thrilled with this food.

Is their meat grass fed? It makes a huge difference for dogs that are intolerant to grains. They had no prices on their packages. Are they reasonably priced? Slankers has grass fed meat.

I wont even bother calling MPC because the one guy I spoke to last time couldn’t give me any answers about much. Guess my dogs either eat the rabbit by itself or they go hungry.

For what amount? I have been mixing 1 tablespoon of the tripe in with their ground Rabbit and it actually is making them eat all their meals. I do not want them to get Pancreatitis again so should I stop giving them the Tripe?

I just found out that the differences in certain tripes is how the animal is fed. Being it cattle or Bison…etc. some grass feed only and then others feed grains which in result makes a fatty cow..etc, makes perfect sense to me.

I did look at greentripe.com and I wondered. I am honestly getting frustrated with most Companies out there. Seriously why do they lie about the fat content? I am getting tired of wasting money and most of all putting my dogs through misery that should be avoided but who are we suppose to believe? I do not know which way to turn anymore when feeding my dogs.

Thanks once again HDM. Hopefully the tripe will not effect the one that ate it but she only ate a tablespoon full since it was still a bit frozen but now I am scared to feed it anymore.

I am glad to hear something positive about this particular food since I just ordered the CC Venison. I do not have the issues you have with your baby but mine do have yeasty smell to them and yeasty ears and itchy constantly. One of mine has something else going on that I am hoping it isn’t the same issue we had before. I think shes allergic to turkey and may be having intestinal allergies to it so we are switching.

Did you just do a switch over with your dog or did you mix with his previous kibble? Glad your baby is doing so well on CC 🙂

I am so sorry I am just seeing this, if you are still interested in the unopened bags you can shoot me an email at [email protected] and in the header just say see spot and I will know it is you wanting them . $20 for both and that is shipped as long as you are in the US.

Thanks HDM I will keep that in mind. I am hoping that CC works and if it does then I will be rotating through the proteins they have but I don’t think the Bison is out yet so if this Brand works hopefully the Bison will be out soon.

Thanks Bella, Yes it sure is very frustrating as I hate seeing my sweet girls so miserable.

Going to try canine caviar venison diet and see how things go. It got excellent reviews so maybe we just need to get away from turkey all together. Wish us luck because we are running out of options for a half kibble diet.

Yes HDM they got Salmonella from Raw and Pancreatitis. My shihtzu was hospitalized and had to be on IV fluids for 2 days. My vet handed me a stack of paperwork talking about the risk involved in feeding Raw. I know most vets are unless holistic vet are against feeding Raw and because they did not take courses in canine nutrition so they do not understand the Raw thing and simply do not agree with it. It scared me to death and I thought I was going to loose her because of something I chose to feed her. Now I am super careful what I choose to feed and it cannot be very high fat for sure. Dogs can also get Salmonella bacteria from kibble so I do take this all with a grain of salt. I am honestly more Leary of kibble these days than Raw.

I meant no other issues were found besides Pancreatitis and Salmonella bacteria through all the blood work and test she went through, my IPad wouldn’t let me edit the post. Thanks for any advice on a food you think she might can handle.

It can depend on the dog or dogs IMO. Two of my dogs got Pancreatitis and bad bacteria from Raw but two did fine. There are A LOT of factors to take into consideration when starting to feed a Raw diet. You have to learn what your dogs can handle fat wise and Protein wise. I have small dogs, 3 Chihuahuas and a Shihtzu. I believe in feeding an all Raw diet and I saw a huge improvement in my dogs teeth, breath and coats and over all activeness but we for sure paid the price with a $1300 vet bill with one of ours. Do lots of home work before you start it. I only feed mine a lower fat Raw such as Rabbit and Turkey but we have been off of Raw now and just on kibble for a couple of weeks now but we are about to start up the low fat Raw once again.

LOL well now that you bring up Rabbit, The Rabbit I get from Hare Today looked like chicken. It was the same color as chicken but it was tougher. Well I ordered the Vital Essentials from a local Company and when I got there to pick it up the patties were bright red and I thought to myself that it did not look right but I took it home and tried it with my dogs the next day after I thawed a patty over night and it was a Big no go with my dogs….none of them wanted to touch it. I took it back and told them what had happened and they said it was more red because the company adds in extra blood for more nutrients and I thought to myself well looks like some color was added too. I wasn’t impressed with it but the place where I took it back said it was one of the best Raw patties on the market.

Well I went to a different store but same chain store and the guy working there told me that Natures Variety Instinct was the best on the market but it has veggies added so its for sure a no go in this house. A lot of different advice out there.

I have not Patty, I did not think they needed it if just on Raw part time even though I did open one of the sardine packages that I got from Hare Today and only once I gave them a teaspoon of that each. Today I gave them all 1/2 sardine each out of the can and they loved it. I still got 3 packages of Raw sardines and the one package I opened I vacuum packed it and froze it again. So you think Sardines twice a week will be enough? I don’t want to over do it or under do it.

I had that happen too and I think. I over reacted too quickly and rushed mine to the vet. A good friend of mine has been feeding her Danes Raw for 12yrs and she said every now and then one of her Danes will throw up and she says it is common and just a case of mild Pancreatitis. It is scary though and freaks you out. I am one of those that is terrified of my dogs choking on raw bones. I am so stupid paranoid that I had ordered them raw rabbit chunks with bone and I cut the meat off away from the bone and threw the bone away. I am so weird.

What about supplementing with krill oil or some type of oil, maybe my dogs need more omega 3 and 6 in their diets. Which oil would be best and how much of it and can I just put it on their regular kibble? Patty you could be right, guess I will find out with the NV because it does not have it in there nor does it have carrot. There is for sure something they are missing in their diet or something that is not going over well with them for all 4 to be itching like crazy. I wish it was as simple as fleas but we have not ever had fleas but I could easily fix that issue. Ugh here we go again

Thanks HDM! I just ordered some off of wag.com, it should be here Tues. I know it isn’t the Raw making them itch and the only thing that someone that I trust pointed out in the turkey and egg that could possibly be the itchy culprit is carrot. My dogs are not flaky skin and no fleas or ticks but do once again itchy and the yeasty ears are back too.

I have 3 that will eat the Hare Today ground Rabbit and one that won’t touch it. I like it because it is not messy and easy to figure out each meal size. I just ordered 10 more lbs yesterday. I thaw it and then break it into 4 servings and then refreeze as Tracy suggested.

That is why it is best to space out each feeding by quite a bit. Like I feed Raw in the morning at about 5:30AM and then at around 6pm I feed kibble and I do add enzymes and probiotics. It woks for us because we spread each meal out to where the first meal is digested before we feed the 2nd meal.

The only time I had an issue is when I mixed kibble with Raw trying to do a switch over to Raw and now I know and have learned we can switch to certain Raw food with no issues but just no mixing in kibble with it.

Hare Today and My Pet Carnivore is what I am using now and I am almost out! With 4 dogs they went through the Hare Today very fast and I ordered 10 lbs. We have been feeding Rabbit and I am trying to find Rabbit of some kind locally but no one has it. I am afraid of Chickens high fat and Beef is one of the Top allergy proteins so I am a bit parinoid of it. I am looking at Bison or Rabbit. I need a red meat and a white meat in their diets.

We tried the Goat Milk before and it is sortof high in fat but it says to feed their meats with goats milk so I am thinking that is a no go for my crew. I wish there were more companies that did just the meat, organs and bone mixture without veggies. I like the ready portions because it is easier with 4 dogs and working away from home.

I did Rabbit chunks with no bone today so I added in See Spot Live Longer Dinner mixes and my dogs would not eat it so I ended up rinsing the stuff off.

I would react just like I did when my 2 got Pancreatitis and bad bacteria when on Darwin’s I immediately get them to the Vet. The food Company would not help after your pet gets sick….Honestly they do not care and feel like you are just blamming them and or their food so they blow you off. I can almost instantly read it in their voice. Yes I agree Customer service is important but it is certainly not there anymore these days from my experience. I am still trying to find the perfect Raw for my dogs that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to ship. I can get Vital Essentials and Primal and Natures Instinct but my problem with the Primal and Natures Instinct is the veggies and fruits they put in them. My dogs are doing good on the Rabbit from Hare Today and My Pet Carnivore but the $45 shipping is killing me. What if I feed Raw low fat meats just from the grocery and add in Steve’s mix? I just don’t want to do all kibble since I have not seen a huge improvement on it. It seems like I am fighting a never ending battle with my dogs are their diet these days. I am beginning to think it has nothing to do with food but the way man has bred dogs for the last years, The DNA code has been terribly messed up. I know dogs to this day that are fed Pedigree and thrive and have no health issues…I won’t feed cheap/grain food to my dogs and try to feed the best I can but it seriously back fires on me. I am to the point of buying my own meat and cooking the snot out of it and adding in supplements and maybe then I won’t have problems. Sorry just venting. I honestly do not know which way to turn in the food direction.

Basically and honestly the Customer service almost everywhere SUX so then what would we base our opinions on just customer service and not the food itself?? People hire individuals everyday some place that cannot answer my questions. If I strickly based my opinion on the unhelpful and unfriendly and unknowledgable hired help then my dogs would starve. My Moms dogs are doing fantastic on this food but she wants to try a different variety and I was considering it myself.

Why is the fat content higher than per say Hare Todays ground rabbit and bones and organ mix? Same for turkey?

I feed Raw in the morning and kibble in the evening and my dogs do fine that way. If your dog is yeasty then he would need to stay away from what Marie stated above but also any veggies and fruits in a kibble that may contain sugar, Sugar feeds yeast and even in very very small amounts if it is in the kibble you are using then that is why your dog is yeasty and not because of fleas even though he could also be allergic to fleas and then he could have flea dermatitis.

Double coated dogs are meant to have their fur to protect them from the sun. Shaving their fur off just exposes them to other things. After shaving a double coated dog several time you will notice his fur will not ever grow back properly. I try to tell people ahead of time at work but they never listen and feel they should shave the dog due to him or her walking around panting constantly but that is normal and how dogs release heat. shedding is also the reason why people do it so why not get a non shedding breed and leave dogs how mother nature intended them to be since they were born like that?

Turkey is not a known allergy in dogs and if it is then I would be rushing my one to the vet constantly. Beef on the other hand is a big allergy problem. Chicken and Lamb are also known allergy proteins. But this can also vary on each individual dog. I say with your dogs issues that I see every day at work ( I work for a vet) try the allery Turkey and Egg from Brothers, whats it going to hurt at this point? Actually I think you will see some improvement but possibly not all. You will never know if you do not try. ………..You may also want to add probiotics and Digestive Enzymes with her meals until she feels better. This could take a while but worth it IMO

Yes my dogs got Pancreatitis on the Duck from Darwins because Darwins told me and it states on their website that duck is lower in fat than Turkey. We were on their turkey meals for 6 weeks without any issues and then when we fed the duck meals BAM Pancreatitis. I am not saying that Darwins is a BAD Company and it may agree with some others dogs but trying the duck with 2 of mine caused Pancreatitis. I was only feeding Darwins and nothing else so I know it was the duck in their meals.
The customer service is not up to par and everytime I eventually got someone on the phone ( very rare) they were very short with me. When you own a business and want to sell your product you have to please the customer to some extent. If I call you and leave a message on your answering service I expect a call back and when I don’t get that then it is horrible customer service to me and then that proves to me that they are not in it for the animals but to make a damn buck.

Hare Today called me back the same day and even though she was busy she answered all my questions in a pleasant manner and to me this does matter when purchasing from a Company.

Today is our first Day trying Hare Todays Rabbit and so far no reactions except one of mine would not eat it but we are still going to do Raw part time and Brothers Turkey and egg part time and see where we go from there but we are in no rush.

The thing with Darwins is that the website is misleading or misprinted , its a known fact that Duck is higher in fat than turkey but thats not what they say on their website or on the phone. I have gone to 5 legit people asking them about duck being as lean as they say and no one agreed and this is why my dogs got Pancreatitis. Plus I am not a fan of veggies and fruits in a raw mixture, especially when you have yeast build up. But thats just my opinion and my unfortunate experience.

Hot spots are not caused from diet. It can be caused from fleas and also double coated dogs are prone to hot spots if you do not keep the under coat brushed out. Does he stay outside a lot?

I work for a vet and even if you decide to do the allergy testing it is not 100% accurate and cost at my vet is $270. There is no perfect kibble out there and with Raw from my expierence my dogs cannot handle high fat Raw so we are going to try low fat Raw meat such as Rabbit and Young beef but we will not be adding any veggies due to my dogs right now are smelling of yeast more so than they ever have and from what I have heard from a long time Raw feeder CO is that some veggies such as carrot have sugar in it and that just feeds yeast. Its all trial and error and just doing research and learning what your dogs can tollerate.

I totally missed the phone number on the site but Tracy called me this afternoon and told me what I needed to do. Shes very knowledgable on the Raw topic. I placed my order for ground Rabbit and Rabbits small chunks and some ground Sardines. She recommended no veggies or fruits. I think she is right on the fruits and veggies being that even some veggies have some amounts of sugar and when trying to clear up yeast issues it is best to stay clear of them and she said they are not a part of a wolves diet in the wild so same for dogs. The Rabbit was the lowest fat and next would be young beef which we will offer that at a later time. Tracy said a month at least on the Rabbit then slowly introduce beef and the other meats but she said my girls need to build up their systems on Lean raw before we offer other proteins.

You are correct Patty, Goat is not a low fat but it isn’t really high either. Tracy recommended Rabbit for now since it is a white meat and eventually we will need to feed a red meat. I just wonder if I can use Steve Browns mix with the Rabbit or would that be over kill? I bought 3 bags a while back and need to use them. They are in my freezer right now.
