Thank you!
Marietta BMemberThanks Dori! The recipe itself hasn’t changed, right? It was removed because of the customer service issue?
Marietta BMemberI have a white Shih Tzu and the same thing happened once. The vet told me it was an allergic reaction. She prescribed steroids and antibiotics and it cleared right up. I probably wouldn’t go that route again, though. I try feed dehydrated or air dried “raw” food now and use natural products and it has never happened again.
Marietta BMemberI have been using it for over two years and have never seen a flea. I put it directly on my dog and I do it outside because it’s very dusty. I used to buy the food grade from a feed supply store, but now I just buy Only Natural Pet All In One Flea Remedy. It’s easier than buying a 50lb. bag from the feed store. My dog couldn’t tolerate any of the flea treatments from the vet. This has been a lifesaver!
Marietta BMemberOnly Natural Pet Easy Raw doesn’t have enough protein. I bought a sample packet from them and my dog wouldn’t eat it. I do buy their Max Meat dog food and my dog loves that.
September 13, 2014 at 12:09 pm in reply to: High protein-low fat canned food good for weight loss. #51826 Report AbuseMarietta BMemberI was also going to suggest the Weruva or Tiki dog. They’re both very high protein and very low fat. Plus, dogs go crazy for the stuff.
Marietta BMemberHere is a great article on heart worms. It also has the maps I was talking about. I try to follow this and not over medicate my dog. I have her tested for heart worms every year just to be sure.
Marietta BMemberMy mom uses Trifexis on her dog with no problems. I don’t use any chemical flea and tick medication on my dog, only natural. I have been using diatomaceous earth along with Ark Naturals Flea Flicker Tick Kicker for 2 years and my dog has never had fleas or ticks. When I was poisoning her with Frontline she had ticks all the time. As far as heart worm medication goes, I follow a map that I found on Dogs Naturally Magazines website. It shows the states that you live in and when to start and stop the medication. The temperature has to be above 57 degrees F for 14 days for it to be possible for a dog to get heart worms and if it falls below 57 F the cycle is broken and starts all over again. I will look for the article and put a link here. For the few months that I need to give heart worm meds, I give Heartguard. It does make my dog a little sick for a few days so I give it to her every 45 days. The strength of the medicine is still at 99% at 45 days.
Marietta BMemberI can’t remember how I got the picture to come up. Dumb luck, I guess. Maybe another poster on here can remember. I’m sorry.
Marietta BMemberZiwipeak air dried is high protein and low carbs and no sweet potatoes. It’s basically just meat. Dogs go nuts for it.
Marietta BMemberYou could try a premix and add your own protein. You can add cooked or raw. I have used Dr. Harvey’s veg to bowl, Honest Kitchen, Healthy Dogma and U-Stew.
Marietta BMemberNeezerfan, thank you for the coupon code! Dori, there are plenty of other great yeast free foods out there. Being a dog food nut like me, I’m sure you know that haha.
Marietta BMemberThank goodness I don’t like ice cream haha! I buy the air dried varieties and they keep for quite some time so you probably won’t need to freeze them. That should make the hubby happy ๐ The Only Natural Pet Store has sales on their foods from time to time and if you sign up for their emails they will give you the heads up. My email is filled daily with sales from online pet food distributors and the sad thing is I look forward to it!
Marietta BMemberHaha! I’m a dog food hoarder, too!!! I’m addicted to buying it. Good thing we have small dogs!
Marietta BMemberI had the same problem with all kibble giving Eggroll tears stains. She would get a bad smell, too. Her whole body would stink. No smell or stains with the brands she eats now. Air dried ziwipeak, primal, Stella and chewy’s, the real meat company and only natural pet max meat. Canned choices are Weruva or tiki dog. I rotate brands often.
Marietta BMemberI have the same problems with Eggroll’s beard. ๐
Marietta BMemberHaha Thank you!
Marietta BMemberYes, I can see it. What a cutie pie!
Marietta BMemberAwe thanks! Her name is Eggroll. She is a Japanese Chin/Shih Tzu mix and she will be 4 years old on July 1st. She’s the light of my life. I love seeing the pictures of all of your pets. They’re precious.
Marietta BMemberIt worked!!!
Marietta BMemberThank you, Hound Dog Mom ๐
Marietta BMemberI used to have a picky Shih Tzu. She would never eat and she always vomited bile from having an empty stomach. Then I discovered raw dehydrated food! She eats every day now and I’m guessing it’s been 3 years since I started feeding her the dehydrated raw. I alternate between Stella and Chewy’s, Primal and Ziwipeak. I also started feeding her Only Natural Pet Max Meat and the air dried variety of The Real Meat Company. Every time she finishes a bag I switch to another brand and protein and she never has digestive issues. I keep Tiki Dog and Weruva canned varieties on hand for days when I want her to have a special treat. Hang in there. You will eventually find some foods that your dog will love. Just try not to give in and offer treats because your dog will catch on quickly and will hold out for them.
Marietta BMemberI saw that deal from Petflow! I was shocked. They run great specials.
Marietta BMemberI purchase all of my dog food and treats online and I’ve had no problems at all. We have a vacation home in Florida and everything has arrived fine. I have found that it’s cheaper to buy online and I can find the “hard to find products” that local stores don’t carry. Chewy.com, wag.com and doggiefood.com are my favorite sites and they always have sales. Happy shopping!
April 30, 2014 at 12:15 pm in reply to: ALLERGIES -GRAIN FREE / POTATO FREE DOG FOOD OR EVEN JUST SUGGESTIONS TO FOODS #40647 Report AbuseMarietta BMemberI would go with Ziwipeak air dried or canned. My dog has allergies, too, and she does really well on this and it is on the Editor’s Choice list. You can also use an antibacterial rinse on your dog or use it as a foot soak. It’s 1 gallon water, 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup of peroxide. Don’t get it near the dogs eyes and don’t rinse it off. Never use an oatmeal bath or shampoo if you think your dog is itchy because of yeast. It will feed the yeast and make it worse. Don’t feed any starches at all like grains, potatoes or even peas. Don’t feed any sugar, either. I also started my dog on a steroid that is made from plants that is completely safe and natural. You can use Only Natural Pet Stores Immune Balance or buy the human grade plant steroid called Moducare. The only thing that helped my dog was steroids from the vet and I needed to get her off them and all of this is working. Good luck!
Marietta BMemberThanks for the info. It is a bit like Ziwipeak, but it’s bigger pieces and little harder to chew.
Marietta BMemberMy dog was having her anal glands expressed every few months. Along with anal gland problems, she had allergies. I never connected the two until I read an article in Dogs Naturally magazine. I finally found out that she was allergic to chicken and since removing chicken from her diet her anal gland problems are gone. It has been 8 months since she had them expressed.
