We give all 12 of our dogs Steadfast Canine. The big dogs get large breed, the little ones small breed. The vet had said several of ours would need luxating patella surgery. Since they were young we decided to try supplements first. All are now doing great! Theyā€™re pricey but worth it. http://www.arenus.com

I am so glad I saw these posts! I usually only give Best Brand odor free bully sticks to chew for a half hour to an hour. I saw the no hide ad and decided to try them. When they came, I started having second thoughts because they look just like rawhide to me. Thank God I didnā€™t give them before I saw this! Iā€™m throwing them away!

You sound like an awesome pet person with all you do for your dogs! We vary between Open Farm and Honest Kitchen and sometimes add their toppers. We always add a little warm water. We have 12 dogs. Two of them are picky eaters but one loves Honest Kitchen. The other loves Open Farm Turkey and Chicken grain free. Iā€™m keeping track of the research about grain free but theyā€™ve been on it a long time with no issues. Japanese Chin are also prone to luxating patella and the vet said a couple of them would require surgery. We had a rescue years ago that had permanently dislocated knees that we had put in place and his tibia needed moved. 12 weeks of cage rest and physical therapy three times daily. He did great! We decided since these two were young we would try supplements first. We bought Steadfast Canine supplements from Arenus.com. They love taking them and no more problems. We feed twice daily. If your pups get picky, you might check out http://www.openfarmpet.com I love the small size on the kibble too!

Google Zukes recall. Purina bought out the company a few years ago and I wonā€™t feed anything Purina. They just had a recall for mold in their treats. Thereā€™s a group on Facebook called Purina is Still Killing or Sickening Dogs and Cats.

What food is your mom currently feeding? I switched to Open Farm Grain Free Turkey and Chicken especially for my picky eaters and a few had bouts of diarrhea. They love it and are doing great. We have 12 dogs and they all love it. Sometimes I feed their Ancient Grains recipe and Iā€™ve also alternated with Honest Kitchen or added a topper with a little warm water added but I only use toppers from these two companies. http://www.openfarmpet.com I love Maltese! They are amazing dogs. Also, have you taken stool specimens to your vet, especially for the one with blood? Repeated steroid shots can cause serious health issues.

Kathy W: thanks for posting a response to Joan Shi. I asked why she was posting about the pen after several different posts. She never responded. Iā€™m here to see what people have to say about various dog foods only. Have a great day!

Michelle K: so far so good with Coast and Range small breed beef. My one picky eater loves it! The chicken I believe caused a little bit of loose stools though. Iā€™ve been trying to change him over slowly but he picks out the Coast and Range beef and leaves the other food. I just ordered 16 lbs and will change the other five little ones over too. I do wish they made bigger bags. Iā€™m getting several small ones to make the 16 lbs

Margo: thanks for posting. I had thought about that also. Now glad I didnā€™t buy it. Pretty bad they have no returns. Iā€™ve had food that didnā€™t work out and the company credited my account back and I donated food to animal control. Obviously this is not a reputable company.

I talked to the company several times before buying one bag to try. Just get ready to start one of our 12 dogs on it to see how she does. The person I talked to told me the food is made in Canada. Supposedly Canada has stricter regulations on dog food than the USA when I googled it. Iā€™m trying Pinto Canyon on a 65 lb German Shorthaired Pointer first. Iā€™m also trying Coast and Range food on the six small dogs. Will update later.

I am a nut case when it comes to anything I give our 12 dogs! After talking with the company, I ordered some sample packs of Coast and Range beef and chicken. I just slowly started changing the six little ones over and they seem to really like it so far. I will probably order one bigger bag just to keep them on it for a bit to see how it goes. This will sound odd but the smell is much better than other kibble Iā€™ve fed. I usually order 10 bags of food at a time from either Honest Kitchen or Open Farm but Iā€™m always researching foods for anything that might be better. Will update when I see how this goes. I was concerned, like several here, when I couldnā€™t find a rating on the food. Itā€™s even more expensive than Honest Kitchen so Iā€™ll probably leave the six big dogs on their current food.
