I assume you have done a fecal and a fecal PCR to check for intestinal parasites (hooks, whips, giardia, coccidia, etc…).
I would ask your vet about Tylan (Tylasol).
In the meantime, ask your vet about a regime that includes an antacid, Sucralfate (coats the stomach), and Cerenia for vomiting.
Jennifer HMemberHi Lin,
One of our foster parents has a Yorkie with PLE. If you want to email me your email address I can forward it to her ask her to contact you to share what she has learned about dealing with the disease. I would also recommend checking Yorkie forums.
So very sorry,
Jennifer H.
Hart2heartrescue@gmail.comAugust 6, 2018 at 6:18 am in reply to: hookwork causing long term diarrhea even after treatment?? #119853 Report AbuseJennifer HMemberFor hookworms you should treat with Panacur for 5 days, then repeat at 3 weeks (for 5 days) and then 3 months (treat for 5 days) to catch the hatching cycle.
Jennifer HMemberI see that Susan recommended treating for Giardia which is what I recommend. Giardia is hard to find it in a stool sample. Giardia is becoming somewhat resistant to Metronidazole, but I would use it as Susan recommends and also add 5 days of Panacur.
I am not a fan of prescription diets, but every once in a while with a foster dog I will break down and feed ID and that has helped.
