Ono problem Peggy. I do wish there was a private message option here. 🙂 Wonder if that will turn into a smiley?
InkedMarieMemberI’m in NH but never noticed unlabeled canned foods. I’ll look next time I’m there. Not sure I could buy n unlabeled food. If there was a problem, I’d have to know who to call.
InkedMarieMemberCurious about the glucosamine, Dori. Gemma gets a liquid glucosamine which has to go in her food, no other way for her to eat it.
December 18, 2014 at 3:53 pm in reply to: HELP! My JRT is getting fat on Blue Buffalo Basics! #60693 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberSheesh, I just asked a question. This forum has had things come & go, such as a “like” option. I thought maybe there was a private message option that I didnt see.
December 18, 2014 at 6:43 am in reply to: Best Grain Free Dog Food for Allergies #60581 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberWhere do you live? They may be itchy due to dry skin from heat being on. Have you checked for fleas? Itchy dogs don’t automatically say allergy to me.
InkedMarieMemberIf he’s still eating Beneful, it’s a crappy food.
December 17, 2014 at 9:41 am in reply to: HELP! My JRT is getting fat on Blue Buffalo Basics! #60482 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI’m curious….how did someone from here contact you? Did you post your email or is there some way of contacting people here that I don’t know of?

InkedMarieMemberKaren,
When potty training any dog, no matter the age, leash training is the way to go. I learned the hard way with this. A past dog followed the other two out the dog door we had in that house. I realized after he had struvite crystals & I started watching him that he wasn’t urinating when I assumed he was. The dog door got replaced with a regular door we could walk out. I now have a kennel inside a fenced in yard; dogs who aren’t housebroken or need a refresher course go in the kennel on leash. Schedule has nothing to do with it nor does neighborhood; just hook the leash to her and have her potty wherever she normally goes. You mentioned medical: I thought your vet already ruled out medical outside of the precursor to crystals?InkedMarieMemberI answered in your other thread.
InkedMarieMemberDoggie doors are hard when it comes to potty training. I’d treat her like a puppy, go out on leash only.
InkedMarieMemberDogObsessed: thank you! We have adopted three senior dogs: Emma was an 8 yr old American Foxhound, Katie an 11 yr old sheltie & our current sheltie, Gemma, who was 10 or 12 when we got her two years ago next month.
InkedMarieMemberI had quite a few shipments of canned only from Chewy and they arrived dent free.
InkedMarieMemberIt’s been forever since I’ve had only one dog but we adopt senior dogs so we’ve had dogs come & go often. We don’t prepare, we just have them meet in a neutral place (except our last dog, she’s just walked in & owned the place) and haven’t had any problems.
InkedMarieMemberI’m not surprised but to be honest, I don’t care. Never fed Blue, now I definitely. Never will.
InkedMarieMemberI order from Chewy.com, PetFlow.com, Wag.com and SportDogFood.com. In the past, I used Petfooddirect.com but shipping arrival was too inconsistent. Don’t order from doggie food.com, not recommended.
InkedMarieMemberLabs,
Mine usually go out every couple hours but since she peed (we think it’s her) right by the door, obviously we didn’t see her. Boone makes it obvious: he will sit at the door. If you don’t see him, he will run back & forth. If you miss that, he will nudge your hand. If you miss that, he’ll pee. Neither of the girls lets us know, unfortunately. Totally our fault. Thanks!InkedMarieMemberDog Obsessed: where in NH?
Dori: come back north east!
InkedMarieMemberYep, only tax on food at restaurants and hotel/lodging. We do have high vehicle registration to make up for it. Depending on where in maine, you’re close enough to shop here (offhand, live in Kittery/York, Lebannon/Sanford). Or, just move to NH. Its a beautiful state.
InkedMarieMemberYou should live in NH: no tax!
InkedMarieMemberI expected SoJo’s to rehydrate & get smushy or something. It’s kind of soft but just not what I expected. Wish I had bought the smaller bag.
InkedMarieMemberThanks for the info Judy! I get the Bug Off Garlic from SpringtimeInc.com.
InkedMarieMemberYou’re right, BC, just trying to figure out what’s going on. I can’t do anything til I know who’s even doing it. Sandy may be right aboutbAnnamaet the food change.
InkedMarieMemberThanks Sandy. I’m in NH; do I need to use something all winter?
BC: no bathing going on here; can’t do it in the tub & they’re too big for the sink. Do you have any other collars or powder to recommend beside what Sandy linked?
InkedMarieMemberI was stupid, listened to a pet store owner & my husband and got a bag of SoJos. This will be the last bag. I’ll stick with THK.
InkedMarieMemberI wouldn’t feed that at all. Brewers rice and the first ingredient? Corn gluten meal? Animal digest? These are the makings of a crap food. There are many supplements & drugs to use for joint issues. Grains are inflammatory, making this a poor choice.
InkedMarieMemberI judge my dogs treats as much as I their food. Treats I like are anything from The Honest Kitchen and Sojo’s and grainfree ones from Buddy Biscuits. I don’t feed much for treats so others are probably more helpful than me. Definitely not Milk Bones!
InkedMarieMemberI wonder why petite is in stars in my post above?
InkedMarieMemberThanks Laura!
InkedMarieMemberWire haired pointing griffon? Can you link us to his picture, please? I have a petit basset griffon vendeen!
InkedMarieMemberNaturella,
I’m still trying to wake up so maybe I’m not understanding what you were trying to do. Can you explain, one transaction at a time? Let me explain lol. IF you had sayThree $2.00 coupons off any bag of Wellness dry food, I do not think you can use more than one coupon per bag. Usually the bag says that.
IF you had a buy one bag get one free coupon, you *can* use a. $2.00 off of the one you buy but you cannot use a coupon off the free one. I’ve had these BOGO coupons and have argued with managers about using a coupon off of the one I’m paying for. I win. Always do lol.
This is non dog related but in the 80’s when my boys were small, Pizza Hut had a “get your pizza free if it’s not ready in 20 minutes” deal. We knew our local PH do we ordered a pizza with more toppings than we normally would have. Went to get it and our stopwTch was 20:36. The worker refused our free pizza, saying it was only 36 seconds over the 20. I ask where it said there was an X amount of a grace period. I ask for the manager. Maria comes out, says “hey Marie” lol. I explain, we get our pizza for free. Back then, Steve was sort of mortified that I challenged them. He’s grown since then!
December 5, 2014 at 6:41 am in reply to: heartworm meds year round in the north? #59396 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI’m in NH. I give the last dose in October & start up again in May. This is what my holistic vet recommends. She does yearly heartworm testing.
One of my regular vets tells me I can test every other year.
InkedMarieMemberI’m pro spay/neuter but ONLY if the owner is responsible. IMO, as someone who has never had an intact dog, while females are in heat, they must never, ever be outside alone. They must go out on leash and not tethered either. Unaltered male dogs have gone to great lengths to get to an unspayed dog.
InkedMarieMemberI know someone who didn’t spay their dog. Fenced in yard, she didn’t see the problem in leaving the dog into the yard, while in heat. Yeah, she spayed her after the puppies were born.
InkedMarieMemberIce on Ice is fantastic!
InkedMarieMemberI prefer meat based.
December 2, 2014 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Best food and suppliments for Senior dogs? #59184 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberRich, a relatively healthy senior dog needs more protein than younger dogs:
there is a good article to read. My seniors eat the same as the other dogs, they just get added supplements (I just posted in your other thread)
InkedMarieMembersome to look at: K9 Liquid health, Kan Essentials Benefits Hips & Knees, DGP (DogGonePain), Swanson vitamins Joint Mobility plus, Green Lipped mussel
InkedMarieMemberBarbara,
Up above, click the Dog Food Advisor banner, then type in “best dog foods” in the search. You’ll find links to click there.InkedMarieMemberGlad to know I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know. I only happened on the info while looking to see what online sites carry Annamaet!
InkedMarieMemberDr Tim’s makes a red meat but I think pork is in it too. It’s the “RPM”.
InkedMarieMemberYeast can be a tough issue. Any chance you can do raw? One of my dogs had yeast ear infections & when I put him on raw (no fruits or veggies, the sugar in them “feeds” yeast), they went away.
If you must feed kibble, look for one without white potato. In our forums here, look for my stickie on potato free foods. I think it’s in the dog food ingredients forum. I haven’t updated the list but it’s a good start.
November 27, 2014 at 11:16 am in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #58711 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberJakes Mom, where are you located? I’m in NH & my town got almost a foot & half of snow!
November 27, 2014 at 9:01 am in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #58702 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberHappy Thanksgiving, all!
for those of us who have to work or family members have to work, I’m really sorry. I wish everyone would think of the people who have to work so they can save money.
November 26, 2014 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Something entirely unrelated to dog food. #58653 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberNaturella: my son is a manager at Staples. He has to go in at 5 pm one Thanksgiving til 10pm. Drive 40 min home & be back to work at 5am.
I wish everyone would just f’n stay home on Thanksgiving so people wouldn’t have to work.
November 26, 2014 at 6:04 pm in reply to: What food to feed my 7 month old Cogie. #58636 Report AbuseInkedMarieMemberI second those bowls, aquariangt, I have two of them!
InkedMarieMemberYou have to decide if you want prey model (no fruits or veggies) or barf type, with them.
I don’t do fruits or veggies, I buy ground & scoop it out. Premades that are prey model are Vital Essentials & Primal. Pretty sure Primal is.Pre mades that have them are Stella & Chewys, Natures Variety (I don’t like them), Answers and Steve’s real food as well.moh and Darwins (available only from them).
InkedMarieMemberI was shocked when I hot the small bites too! I got it for Gemma (no teeth) but will try her on Gingers regular Farmina next.
InkedMarieMemberOh I understand now, Dori!
InkedMarieMemberCongrats!
InkedMarieMemberA raw diet would be best; it has the most moisture which is very important. Are you looking to do a pre made or are you doing your own?
