The only thing I know about white potatoes is that it could contribute to inflammation in arthritis because it’s a nightshade vegetable. I have my dog on Earthborn Holistic. Some of their formulas have no white potato and no grain. Brothers a brand from Florida uses sweet potato which is a good substitute. Sweet potato believe it or not has less calories.
ennyMemberResearch Brothers dog food. They don’t have white potatoes. I was using it for my dogs arthritis problem. Somewhere I read that a Ft Lauderdale? canine unit cured their dogs allergies with this food. It comes from a Florida pet store and they UPS it to you if you don’t live nearby. I now use Earthborn Holistics which doesn’t use white potatoes in its Great Plains Feast (bison meat). Good Luck!
ennyMemberBrothers has a dog food which helped a police dept. canine unit in Florida clear up serious allergy problems. I’ve used another of their formulas which I liked alot. Do a little research about the Brothers brand. They’re rated 5 stars also.
ennyMemberI’ve heard that Nightshade vegetables are bad for Arthritis causing increased inflammation. White potatoes are a Nightshade vegetable. That’s why I think they’re not used in certain dog foods.
ennyMemberI am the original poster and as to any update there is none so far. As you can imagine ConsumerLab.com has to test hundreds of products from different manufacturers and pet products are not their priority. They do update but it usually takes quite a long time. One of the products that passed muster was the Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM combo from Nutramax Labs for joint relief for horses and canines. Pet Tabs Original Formula Vitamin-Mineral Supplement for dogs dist. by Virbac AH Inc. was the only multi. that passed. That’s about all I know at this time.
