Holistic Blend Grain-Free Marine 5 Fish All Life Stages Dry Dog Food. This is an excellent dry dog food made in Canada. My Collie, like so many other dogs, did not do well on the U.S. version of Origen after having been on the Canadian version.
I tried many brands of kibble before coming across Holistic Blend and found that my dog preferred the 5 Fish version. He is thriving on it. His coat is soft and is coming in thick once again. His allergies are improving, his weight is steady, his stools are compact and consistent and best of all, he loves this kibble.
I am more than pleased with Holistic Blend so far which is why I am recommending this food as a brand for Editor’s Choice!

I had no luck transitioning my dog from the Canadian version of Orijen to the U.S. version. Even with a slow transition my dog developed diarrhea. I tried more than one formula/recipe.
This was very frustrating because he had been doing remarkably well on the Canadian formula. Starting over and I am now trying various other foods including Holistic Blend.

I recently contacted Chewy and asked why Fromm and I think, Orijen, would no longer be available at Chewy’s. Chewy answered with a very honest response. They stated that since Chewy had become a subsidiary of Petsmart, Fromm, and possibly Orijen, decided to part ways with Chewy because these companies believe in promoting small businesses and Chewy, having become part of the Petsmart conglomeration, no longer fit their business model.

I had my adult Collie on the Orijen Red and Six Fish (Canadian version) and he thrived on that food. I was so impressed and so was my dog. I did try the U.S. version of Orijen and I hate to say it but initially my Collie refused to eat it and when he finally did he suffered from stomach cramps and diarrhea.

Fortunately, I had ordered Horizon Legacy in anticipation of problems with Orijen since I had read so many reviews where owners reported both vomiting and diarrhea. As soon as I switched him to the Horizon Legacy, with no transition, his digestive issues stopped and stools were firm. Plus he loves the food!

He’s been on Horizon Legacy for several months now and his coat is still shiny, soft, no yeast smell in the ears and his allergies have not re-emerged.

I’m very disappointed with Orijen but I am happy to have discovered a replacement that is working well for my Collie.
