If you don’t want to start with prescription until you know at least add water to his food. To the point that he has to slurp it up to get to the food. Increase water helps if it’s struvite crystals
Barbara MMemberI ordered from Amazon. But any pet online store has them too.
Barbara MMemberHey Sherrie J,
The only thing I would do differently is do all wet until the crystal clear up. And still add water to the wet (and dry) if you still prefer to use dry. My dog had the Crystals too.
Barbara MMemberI don’t see where the reviews reflect a change in formula for Solid Gold Berry Balance. It’s still a 4.5 out of 5 when I checked
Barbara MMember@Derek L the antibiotics was for the UTI not the crystals. The crystals require either a prescription for or wet food and increased water. I use solid gold berry supplement and someone recommended above Cranimals supplement. Nate I ise Blue Buffalo grain free turkey and potato I think the flavor is.
Barbara MMemberI read that people have rid Struvite with supplements alone, but I trust my vet and took his preferred course of action and then did my own research for after. That’s how I found Solid Gold. I started her on the solid gold right after the crystals dissolved. I believe the s/d food has a higher level off salt which is why they drink more and wet food has more water in it as well. Keep us posted Nate. You are a good pet parentnfor exploring what’s best and not what’s easy!
Barbara MMemberHey Nate. Here’s my take…as someone who PRIDES themselves in doing the best for my dog like I would a child, I know science diet is a crap food but crystals are painful for a dog. So I did the SD c/d (she would NOT eat the s/d) for a month. I even added water to it to ensure an increase in her water intake. Then I went back to her 5 star kibble. I home cook meat for her once a week and add it to her food with added water to increase he water. She hated the fountain so that’s back in the box. Lol. Just keep I mind that you dog is experiencing discomfort. Don’t wait too long. Let me know what you come up with if not the SD. Kisses to your little ones!!!
Barbara MMemberEllen I sent you an email. Thanks for all the info
Barbara MMemberYes. Supplements are after the fact and preventative.
Barbara MMemberCranberry supplement we are all speaking of is for overall unrinary health. I would never advise against your vet but I happen to trust my vet completely. But you would be on the right track to start a supplement. I use Solid Gold Berry Balance
Barbara MMemberHey Sarah. I use the same
Powder. My vet doesn’t believe in supplements and things of that nature. So there is when I’m on my own to do research and make the decisions I feel are best for me and my dog. So cool that your vet is on board! Love that.Barbara MMemberHi Michelle. My vet didn’t recommend supplements but I believe in doing my own researcher. Just like our human doctor practice western medicine and will treat you differently than a holistic doctor. So sometimes I do my own thing based on research and a holistic approach.
Barbara MMemberI was giving the prescription wet food AND adding water to it to insure increase water intake. I also now make her bone broth I add to every meal (dry kibble and boiled chicken. She also get her cranberry supplement twice a day in her meals.
Barbara MMemberThanks. I also ordered a fountain hoping the water noise will increase her intake.
Barbara MMemberHow can I increase my pups water intake? I already leave water out all day??
