Chris SParticipant
I was wondering how to get the dog to let you8 put the medicine under his tongue without squirming all over the place. I tried to use the Silicea as per another treatment & I couldn’t get him to stay still long enough to do it.
Also did you give your dog both medicines at the same time under their tongue?
I may try this.
Chris SParticipantAre you looking for the tablets or the powder? Amazon has it most of the time but they do run out every so often. You should Google it. I found it cheaper on another sight. But you don’t have to go tho the vet for it.
Chris SParticipantI only give freeze dried organ meats (livers) & chicken breasts. Purebites makes some great treats. There is no need for all of the other crap they put in treats. The dogs get enough of that in their food & supplements.
Chris SParticipantO yes! Any organ meat is great for your dog. I don’t give any treats except freeze dried livers. And if I have some hearts, livers, etc. I’ll cut them up & give them to him, all except gizzards, I get those (I really like them).
Chris SParticipantThat’s great! Thanks so much. I will check out the Endurance products as well. I think I will just give him one of my Omega-3 caps with one of his meals. I also have some Wild Salmon oil that I can put in his food too. But not both at the same time.
Thanks for sharing the info on the GNC. I was concerned that GNC had gotten so commercial that they may have been slacking on their ingredients.

Also I know my brothers dachshund was having some issues & they started feeding her green beans. So I will mix green beans in with Archie’s meals on occasion.
Thanks again!!
March 9, 2015 at 11:43 am in reply to: Natural dog food or supplements for heart murmur #68447 Report AbuseChris SParticipantOh yes, the Cavalier is about top of the list of breeds that get this heart problem. My dog, Archie, has held off any problems for about 7 years. So I am thankful for that.
I have read that both fish oil & Coq10 were both good for this, but can’t seem to find out dosages. And what brands of supplements are reliable & consistent.
I am looking for what foods would be helpful as well.
One question I have had for a long time is…why don’t the manufacturers make their food taste good to the dog. I have tried numerous 5 star dog foods & none seem to make an impression on Archie. This is just a short rant. Sorry.
Thanks for your response. It verifies what I have been reading.
Chris SParticipantI agree with much of what Betsy mentioned. One of the main reasons for dogs (& people) gaining weight is carbs & sugar. Fat isn’t the culprit. I have proven this for myself by going on a very low carb & sugar diet & eating just about all the fat I wanted. Result: in about 2 weeks I had lost over 5 lbs.
This is the same with dogs. Read the labels & look for items that contain carbs such as grains, fruits & vegetables containing sugar, etc. Sugar turns into body fat & carbs turn into sugar. Fat that is eaten rarely turns into body fat.
So get your dog off those “low fat” foods & replace them with high contents of real meat, fish, chicken, & organ parts, such as liver, hearts, gizzards, etc. Also be careful with those fruits & vegetables. Look them up to see what their sugar & carb content is & go with the lowest items.
Protein is just as important as fat. It will give a sense of fulness that lasts throughout the day, where sugar & carbs are digested very quickly causing hunger to return soon. Protein is very important in building body & muscle mass instead of fat. Your dog will loose the fat & replace it with a more solid & healthy body.
Chris SParticipantWhat’s the verdict on Greenies??
