I have used, and been using, homeopathy for years. Whether or not skeptics want to consider it as a possible treatment, it WORKS and has the ability to cure, but you have to know what you’re doing, size up the patient *as an individual* (the whole basis of holistic medicine!), and choose a specific remedy for that patient. A dog that has diarrhea and is irritable and edgy and hyperactive is going to get a completely different remedy than a dog that has diarrhea and is needy, clingy, and upset by it. A dog who has problems with chronic diarrhea will get a different remedy than a dog that has an acute case from whatever reason. I could say I have a headache, and take Pepto Bismol. Guess what–I still have a headache. The PB didn’t “work” because I chose the wrong remedy for the wrong situation. So would a sane person get on the internet, create a blog, and spend their lives bad mouthing Pepto Bismol, or would they maybe realize they chose the wrong fix for their specific problem?

I had a dog back off bones considerably as he aged, his problem as an adult dog was a stomach issue that’s since been resolved, but I lowered his bone intake considerably. At 5 months, I’d lean towards teething. What breed?
July 14, 2016 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Can Merricks Dry Food Substitute Joint Pills? #88155 Report AbuseAcroyaliMemberGood points about the nightshade vegetables, Marie, and this includes any kind of chronic inflammation from arthritis, to recurrent ear infections, to IBD.
Dog Gone Pain is excellent stuff and has helped many ailing dogs, but be warned that it’s not recommended for use in dogs with any kind of heart disease. So yes, hopefully Kyle will do a vet visit and get a good checkup and make his decision from there.July 14, 2016 at 6:49 pm in reply to: Can Merricks Dry Food Substitute Joint Pills? #88148 Report AbuseAcroyaliMemberWhat pills from the vet are you considering? Reason I ask is a lot of vets don’t sell supplements as much as pain medication for arthritis. They are very different things and it all depends on what your vet has available. I agree with C4D; in order to get enough glucosamine from the food, you’ve have to feed enough food to create an obese dog, which would defeat the purpose entirely. There are a lot of supplements out there, from over the counter G&C you can get at Wal-Mart, to tumeric, right down to feeding raw chicken feet (or boiling them, discarding the feet and pouring a bit of the stock onto their food.) I had an extremely arthritic dog for many years, and did all of the above and then some but what really seemed to help him was Arnica (homeopathic). Every dog is different. Best of luck.

Also, has this dog had a thyroid test done? -
