Yorkies can certainly be sensitive to certain foods, and some owners prefer to avoid chicken-based diets due to allergies or other dietary concerns. Instead, you can choose a special diet that meets your pet’s nutritional needs. Here are two specialized formulas that may be suitable for Yorkies.

    Crystallized Formula:
This term is not commonly used in pet food jargon. However, you may be referring to freeze-dried or dehydrated formulas. These types of foods are minimally processed and can retain more nutrients compared to traditional kibble. They often contain a variety of protein sources, including beef, lamb, fish, and even exotic proteins such as venison and duck, which may be suitable for Yorkies who are sensitive to chicken.

    Limited Ingredient Diets (LID):
LID formulas typically contain a limited number of ingredients, making them ideal for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies. They often feature new sources of protein, such as lamb, duck or fish, and easily digestible carbohydrates, such as sweet potatoes or peas. The LID formula eliminates common allergens such as chicken, wheat, soy and dairy, reducing the risk of side effects in sensitive dogs like Yorkies.

When choosing a Yorkie-specific diet, it’s important to consider your Yorkie’s individual needs, preferences, and specific nutritional requirements recommended by your veterinarian. Additionally, always make sure the food you choose meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards for a complete and balanced diet to support your Yorkie’s overall health and well-being.
